    • Homers in three-hit game
Smith went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Smith has hit safely in his last seven games, going 11-for-30 (.367) in that span. His homer Tuesday, a first-inning blast off Roansy Contreras, was Smith's first long ball since June 23. The 26-year-old is up to eight homers, 36 RBI, 42 runs scored, four stolen bases and a .296/.384/.457 slash line over 86 contests this season. Smith's maintained a strong batting average, but he's a bit lacking in over-the-fence power, though he's managed 19 doubles to lead the Rangers in two-baggers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:34 pm

    • Jake Cronenworth hits 13th homer in defeat
Jake Cronenworth hit his 13th homer Tuesday in a losing cause against the Mariners.

Advice: We wonder how Cronenworth feels about the Padres essentially taking him out of the mix for an All-Star nod by listing him at first base and Luis Arraez at second base on the ballot. Arraez went on to make the team at the much weaker position, and Cronenworth is staying home despite being the better hitter of the two this year and easily the more valuable defender. That’s not to say Cronenworth necessarily would have made the team at second — Brice Turang probably had the better argument behind starter Ketel Marte — but he certainly wasn’t going to as a first baseman. • Josh Smith goes 3-for-4, homers in Rangers’ win
Josh Smith went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI as the Rangers edged the Angels 5-4 on Tuesday.

Advice: Statcast still thinks Smith’s success is a mirage, but he’s been a big reason the Rangers are still in the race at all this season. He’s batting .296/.384/.457 in 322 plate appearances, and there’s little doubt he’ll keep playing regularly after Josh Jung returns. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:41 pm

    • Resumes baseball activity
Kiner-Falefa (knee) began doing some light running and throwing Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Tuesday marks the first time Kiner-Falefa has participated in any sort of baseball activity since he landed on the injured list last week due to a sprained left knee. He still has a few boxes to check off before being cleared to return to game action and may also require a minor-league rehab assignment, but the 29-year-old seems to be trending in the right direction. • Goes deep in win
Happ went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-2 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Happ stayed hot at the dish as he singled, walked and then crushed a three-run blast in his first three at-bats on Tuesday. It was Happ's 14th homer of the season, but more importantly, his eighth and 25th RBI over his last 22 games. For the season, the 29-year-old is hitting .244/.358/.455 and continues to be an everyday lock in the middle of the Cubs lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:08 pm

    • Ben Rice homers in loss to Rays
Ben Rice went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: The left-handed Rice hit his home run off left-handed reliever Colin Poche, which is always nice to see. It was Rice’s fifth home run on the season and while it was his only hit on the day, the rookie has shown a tremendous eye at the plate, which has given him the on-base skills to force the Yankees to move him to the lead-off spot. Right now, he’s also giving them no reason to take him out of the spot, which gives him solid fantasy value hitting ahead of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:07 pm

    • Hits big home run in win
Happ went 2-for-4 with a walk, a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-2 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Happ continues to enjoy the month of July, as he's batting ,417 since the calendar turned with three home runs and 11 RBI across seven games, pushing him to 14 long balls and 55 RBI overall. The veteran is still batting just .244 for the season, but based on the recent hot streak, that figure could rise quickly in the next few weeks. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:44 pm

    • Happ stays hot with two hits, HR in big win
Ian Happ went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

Advice: Happ swatted a 395-foot three-run home run off of Dean Kremer in the fourth inning for his 14th home run of the season. He also added a 105.3 mph single earlier in the game. Over his last 20 games, Happ is 21-for-66 (.318) with seven home runs and 22 RBI. He’s absolutely on fire and needs to be in all lineups at this point. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:30 pm

    • Making rehab start Saturday
Kershaw (shoulder) will make his next rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Kershaw played in a rehab game June 19 at Single-A, but soreness in his shoulder forced him to pause his rehab assignment. He has since built back up to throwing two innings in a simulated game, and the goal will be to get him up to three frames in his return to minor-league action. He will likely require another two or three rehab starts beyond Saturday before returning to Los Angeles. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:31 pm
