    • Starts rehab assignment
Campusano (thumb) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in his first rehab game with Single-A Lake Elsinore on Monday.

Advice: Campusano has missed just over a week of action with a thumb injury, so he shouldn't need too many rehab at-bats before being activated. Kyle Higashioka is coming off an eight-homer June, so it's possible Campusano -- who has just a .588 OPS since May 1 -- will play second fiddle at catcher for the Padres upon his activation. • Cracks 10th homer
Contreras went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Monday's loss at Colorado.

Advice: The 26-year-old drew the start at designated hitter and reached double-digit homers for the third consecutive season with a solo shot off Austin Gomber. Contreras also collected his team-leading 20th double of the season. Overall, the Milwaukee star is now slashing .296/.355/.451 with 51 RBI and 59 runs scored across 369 plate appearances. • Hunter Goodman sits for Rockies on Monday
Hunter Goodman is back on the bench Monday after making his first start in four games Sunday.

Advice: It’s like the Rockies stopped viewing Goodman as an option at first base and in right field after Elias Díaz got hurt last month and still haven’t changed that mindset, even though Díaz is back now. Goodman last started at a position other than catcher on June 10. Obviously, Jake Cave is just too good to sit. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:38 pm

    • Transferred to emergency list
The Reds transferred Stephenson (personal) from the paternity list to the family medical emergency list Monday.

Advice: Stephenson had been away for the last three games while on the paternity list. By rule, players can miss 3-to-7 days while on the family medical emergency list, whereas he would have to be activated ahead of Tuesday's game against the Yankees had he remained on the paternity list. Luke Maile and Austin Wynns will handle catching duties for Cincinnati while Stephenson is away. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:06 pm
    • Playing time trending down
Goodman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: From June 15 through June 25, Goodman made nine starts at either catcher or designated hitter over a 10-game stretch and slashed .310/.333/.862 with five home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs. Despite his recent success, Goodman's avenue to regular playing time at either spot now appears to be blocked with the returns Elias Diaz and Charlie Blackmon from the injured list over the weekend. Goodman will take a seat for the fourth time in five games, and his starting opportunities could be largely limited to left-handed pitching moving forward now that the Rockies have regained health. • Released by Miami
The Marlins released Bethancourt on June 27.

Advice: Bethancourt had been outrighted off the 40-man roster after clearing waivers but has now been cut loose. The owner of a career .226/.257/.355 batting line over parts of eight seasons, Bethancourt might have to settle for a minor-league contract with his new organization. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:24 am
    • Getting start Monday sans Jansen
Kirk will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Kirk should be in store for at least two starts in the four-game series with the Astros while top backstop Danny Jansen likely misses the maximum three games after being placed on the paternity list Monday. Even though Jansen remains atop the depth chart, Kirk had been making a case for more playing time by going 4-for-12 with two doubles, two RBI and a run over his last three starts. • Blue Jays promote Brian Serven to active roster
Blue Jays recalled Brian Serven from Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: With Danny Jansen going on the paternity list, Serven will be called up to backup Alejandro Kirk. The 29-year-old is hitting .270/.396/.391 with three home runs in 34 games in Triple-A, but he should only be up for a few days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 am

    • Rehab assignment put on pause
Davis had his rehab assignment with Double-A Altoona put on hold over the weekend after he experienced recurring concussion symptoms, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Initially placed on the 7-day injured list June 15 after experiencing concussion-like symptoms a day earlier in the Pirates' win over the Rockies, Davis was cleared to begin his rehab assignment last Wednesday. However, after appearing in two games with Altoona, Davis suffered an apparent setback and is now without a clear timeline to resume the assignment. With Joey Bart beating Davis back from the 10-day IL on Sunday, the Pirates may not have room for Davis on the big-league roster once his concussion symptoms subside and he's cleared to return from the 7-day IL.
