    • Picks up seventh win
Fried improved to 7-3 on the season in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Yankees, striking out four while allowing one run on six hits and no walks over six innings.

Advice: Fried kept the Yankees off the board until a solo run crossed in the sixth on an Anthony Volpe double. Three of the six hits Fried allowed came during the sixth, but a timely double play ended the inning and kept Fried in line for his seventh win. Fried has now turned in eight quality starts through 15 outing, and in seventh of those starts, he's gone at least six innings while allowing no more than one earned run. He's currently scheduled to next toe the rubber against Pittsburgh when the Pirates head to Atlanta for a weekend set. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:49 pm

    • Max Fried stellar against Yankees in win
Max Fried shut the Yankees out over six innings in a 3-1 win on Sunday. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Advice: Fried was great in this and kept the Yankees off-balance by mixing all five of his pitches. He didn’t throw one individual offering more than 30% of the time and was adept at varying his four-seam fastball, sinker, and curveball early in counts. He’s as steady and stable as they come. • Yu Darvish (groin) expected to return on Tuesday
Yu Darvish (groin) is expected to rejoin the Padres’ rotation on Tuesday.

Advice: The 37-year-old right-hander made it through a minor league rehab start at High-A Fort Wayne without any issues on Wednesday and will square off with the Nationals at home on Tuesday night. Before landing on the injured list in late May with a strained groin, Darvish had posted a 3.20 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 53/15 K/BB ratio over 56 1/3 innings through his first 11 starts on the season. • Expected to start Tuesday
Darvish (groin) is scheduled to return from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Nationals, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Darvish will come off the IL to make his first start for the Padres since May 29 after a sore left groin resulted in a three-plus-week stay on the shelf. The 37-year-old made a minor-league rehab start with High-A Fort Wayne this past Wednesday, but since he only got up to 49 pitches, he'll be operating under some sort of workload restriction against the Nationals. Across 11 starts, Darvish owns a 3.20 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP with 53 strikeouts in 56.1 innings. Rotowire.com Saturday, 2:49 pm

    • Next start will be in majors
Darvish (groin) is expected to come off the injured list to make his next start with San Diego, per MLB.com.

Advice: Darvish struggled in a minor-league rehab start with High-A Fort Wayne on Wednesday, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 3.1 innings. He threw only 49 pitches in that outing, but the Padres nonetheless appear intent on moving him back into the rotation for his next appearance. It hasn't yet been announced when Darvish will make that start, but given the typical time between outings, it's logical to expect Monday or Tuesday versus Washington to be the target date. • Yu Darvish ready to return next week for Padres
Padres manager Mike Shildt told reporters Yu Darvish (groin) will return next week.

Advice: No definitive date yet for Darvish to rejoin San Diego’s starting rotation, but he figures to take the ball at some point during their next series against the Nationals, most likely on Tuesday in place of rookie Adam Mazur. The 37-year-old veteran righty made it through Wednesday’s minor league rehab outing for High-A Fort Wayne without any issues and is on track to return next week. He’s been out since late May recovering from a groin strain. Rotoworld Thursday, 3:39 pm

    • Nearing mound work
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday that Rodriguez will likely begin throwing off a mound within the next week after the latest imaging on his left shoulder showed "almost 100 percent healing," Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Rodriguez has been out all season with a left shoulder strain, having hit a roadblock in April when he experienced renewed tightness. He's trending in a positive direction now, although he'll require a lengthy ramp-up period upon resuming mound work. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:50 am

    • Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) gets good news after MRI
Eduardo Rodriguez’s MRI over the weekend came back as hoped, and he could throw off a mound next week.

Advice: Rodriguez has been sidelined since the spring with a lat strain. The best-case scenario at this point is probably for a return shortly after the All-Star break. Rotoworld Wednesday, 11:46 am

    • Rebounds vs. San Diego
Nola didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Padres, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Nola held San Diego scoreless through his first five innings before ultimately allowing three runs in the sixth, including a pair on a Luis Campusano homer. Still, it was a solid bounce-back outing overall for the 31-year-old Nola, who was tagged for eight runs in his last start against the Red Sox. Nola's 8-3 on the year with a 3.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 84:25 K:BB across 15 starts (94 innings). He's currently lined up to face the Tigers on the road early next week in his next outing.
