• Not starting again in Game 2
Vazquez is absent from the lineup Wednesday for Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Vazquez and Ryan Jeffers basically alternated starts at catcher during the regular season, but it's been Jeffers behind the plate for each of the first two games of the postseason. The only tweak the Twins made in their lineup from Game 1 to Game 2 was flip-flopping Jeffers and Matt Wallner in the batting order, with the former moving down to eighth and the latter up to seventh. • Out of lineup again Wednesday
Bethancourt is not in the lineup Wednesday for Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Rangers.

Advice: Bethancourt also began Game 1 on the bench, although he did enter at catcher late after Rene Pinto was lifted for a pinch-hitter. The Rays began leaning toward Pinto over Bethancourt behind the plate in September and that has carried over into the playoffs. Rotowire.com Today, 1:41 am
  • Enters lineup for Game 2
Lowe is starting in right field and batting cleanup Wednesday in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Rangers.

Advice: Lowe was not in the lineup for Game 1, although he did come off the bench to draw a walk as a pinch-hitter. He'll not only enter the batting order for Game 2 but do so as the cleanup hitter, pushing Manuel Margot over to center field and Jose Siri to the bench. Rotowire.com Today, 1:37 am

  • Sitting out Game 2
Siri is not in the lineup Wednesday for Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series versus the Rangers.

Advice: Siri had a rough Game 1 in his first action back from a hand injury, going 0-for-3 at the plate and making an error in the field. He'll begin this one on the bench as Manuel Margot slides over to center field and Josh Lowe handles right. Rotowire.com Today, 1:32 am

  • Absent from lineup again
Garver is not in the lineup Wednesday for Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Rays.

Advice: The Rangers are sticking with the exact same lineup that produced a Game 1 victory. That means Garver is again sitting out in favor of Robbie Grossman at designated hitter even as Grossman went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Tuesday (though he did draw a walk). • Claims first postseason win
Lopez earned the win in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series, allowing one run on five hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Lopez had a solid outing in his second career postseason start, mainly relying upon the defense behind him to take care of a bevy of outs on contact. Things began to break down a bit for the right-hander in the sixth inning after allowing an RBI single to Kevin Kiermaier but he was pulled with the lead intact. He had a 3.68 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 38 strikeouts across 29.1 innings in September heading into the contest. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:03 pm
  • Smacks two home runs in win
Lewis went 2-for-3 with two home runs and a walk in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series.

Advice: Lewis provided all the offense in this contest, as he had Kevin Gausman's number from the start and made sure to take advantage in both the first and third innings. The rookie third baseman had been on a power binge of sorts heading into the postseason, with five home runs in his 15 games to close out the regular season. During that span, he slashed .315/.422/.630 with 12 runs and 19 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:59 pm

  • Punches out two in save
Duran closed out the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series, allowing one walk in a scoreless inning. He struck out two.

Advice: The young right-hander led the team with 27 saves in 59 regular-season games and the Twins unsurprisingly turned to him again in the ninth inning to close out Tuesday's win. Duran was making his first career appearance as a closer in the postseason. Also foreseeable were his two strikeouts, as Duran carried a 12.1 K/9 across 62.1 innings during the season. • Allows three runs in loss
Gausman took the loss after giving up three runs on three hits and three walks across five innings in Tuesday's 3-1 defeat against the Twins in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series. He struck out five.

Advice: Gausman entered the postseason with a 2.43 ERA across 29.2 innings in September, but he was unable to keep it rolling in Tuesday's loss. His weak spot proved to be Royce Lewis, to whom Gausman conceded two home runs in the first and third innings. The team ultimately decided to hand things over to the bullpen after only 73 pitches, which may leave the right-hander available if needed to cover a few outs later in the series. Gausman now has a 4.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 25.2 career postseason innings with 30 strikeouts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:44 am
