    Advice: Munoz's scoreless streak is up to six innings, and he allowed just one run over 13.1 innings in May while converting all seven of his save chances during the month. The closer is 12-for-13 in save chances this year. He's been hard to hit with a 1.42 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 35:8 K:BB over 25.1 innings as the Mariners' top ninth-inning option.     Andrés Muñoz fired a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts to pick up a save Friday against the Angels.

    Advice: Muñoz needed just 15 pitches to get through the outing with 11 of them going for strikes. The right-hander has been absolutely dominant as of late with a 1.42 ERA and 12 saves for his troubles. To say he’s not in danger of giving up his closing gig is quite the understatement.     Luke Weaver threw 1 2/3 scoreless frames in a relief appearance Friday against the Giants.

    Advice: Weaver allowed just one hit with one strikeout. The right-hander has become a big part of the New York bullpen with a 2.78 ERA and sparkling 0.73 WHIP while composing a K/BB of 39/7.   • Racks up eight punchouts
    Lopez (3-2) yielded a run on four hits and two walks over six innings Friday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Athletics.

    Advice: Lopez worked around some trouble throughout the contest and turned in one of his best starts of the year. He recorded a season-high eight strikeouts with 16 whiffs, including nine with his slider. It was the first time he recorded more than five punchouts in a start since April 30.   • Reynaldo López holds A’s to one run in victory
    Reynaldo López limited the A’s to one run in six innings and struck out eight in Atlanta’s 4-2 victory Friday.

    Advice: Another quality start moves him to 3-2 with a 1.73 ERA. That López has had a very light schedule has played some role in his success to date. His 10 starts have seen him face none of the league’s top five offenses by OPS yet each of the bottom four (the Mariners, Pirates, Marlins and White Sox).   • Edmundo Sosa powers Phillies past Cardinals
    Edmundo Sosa clobbered a two-run homer on Friday night, powering the Phillies to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Cardinals.

    Advice: The 28-year-old shortstop capped off a three-run rally in the second inning with his mammoth 439-foot (110.0 mph EV) two-run blast on the first pitch that he saw from Miles Mikolas. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the night.     Garrett earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, walking one batter in a perfect inning.

    Advice: Garrett walked the first batter he faced but managed to retire the next three Arizona hitters to nail down his third save. With Edwin Diaz (shoulder) on the injured list, Garrett appears to be the Mets' top option for ninth-inning work.     Reed Garrett hurled a scoreless ninth to get a save Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: Garrett has saved three games, and with Edwin Díaz out with a shoulder impingement, that number is likely to go up. Assuming New York wins games, of course.     Schmidt (lat) will be shut down for 4-to-6 weeks, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
