  • Ian Desmond collects two more hits in loss
Ian Desmond went 2-for-4 in Saturday's loss against the Cardinals.

Advice: Desmond extended his hitting streak to five games and he has hit safely in 13 of the past 15 outings. He missed most of the first month due to a hand injury, but he is back and hitting for a respectable .284 average. Desmond has lacked a bit of the power displayed last season in Texas, but you can expect it to return over time, especially in the rarefied air in Denver. Yesterday, 11:50 pm
  • John Jaso provides late heroics in win
John Jaso finished 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI in Saturday's win against the Mets.

Advice: Jaso came on as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and delivered an RBI single to force extra innings. He also singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th to send the Steel City crowd home happy. Jaso has picked up the pace with six hits over his past 15 at-bats, raising his average from .176 to .210 just since May 21. Yesterday, 10:49 pm
    5:08 pm vs NYM
  • Jay Bruce belts his 12th home run
Jay Bruce finished 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss at Pittsburgh.

Advice: Bruce appears to be over the back issue which forced him out of the lineup mid-week. He has hit safely in five straight games, his longest streak since a season-high seven-game run from April 8-14. Bruce has driven in six runs over the past six games and continues to produce despite a rough May average. Yesterday, 10:27 pm
  • Lucas Duda totals six bases on Saturday
Lucas Duda went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Saturday's game at Pittsburgh.

Advice: Duda has come alive with three straight multi-hit games, and four over his past five outings, raising his average from .206 to .267 just since May 21. He has four doubles, two homers and eight RBI over the past five outings, too, making up for lost time. Yesterday, 10:23 pm
  • Chase Utley turns back clock on Saturday
Chase Utley went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Saturday's win against the Cubs.

Advice: Utley has pieced together a modest three-game hitting streak and he has driven in at least one run (five total RBI) during the span. The veteran second baseman has driven in 12 runs over his past 15 games to re-emerge as a useful fantasy option in most NL-only leagues and some deeper mixed formats. Yesterday, 9:40 pm
    1:10 pm vs ChC
  • Another hitless game for Cody Bellinger
Cody Bellinger was 0-for-1 with three walks in Saturday's win against the Cubs.

Advice: Bellinger has hit a bit of a wall, going 8-for-41 (.195) with just two doubles, two homers and six RBI over the past 12 games to drop his average from .319 to .273 just since May 14. The rookie was putting up ridiculous numbers and he was due to cool off eventually. Yesterday, 9:37 pm
  • Hicks drills solo home run versus White Sox
John Hicks smacked a solo home run in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the White Sox.

Advice: His shot was the only run the Tigers got against starter Derek Holland, but they added three more against the bullpen to pull out a split in the doubleheader. Hicks was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Friday to serve as the backup catcher while James McCann is on the disabled list. He is batting .371/.389/.629 with two homers and nine RBI in 36 plate appearances in the majors this year. Yesterday, 7:22 pm
  • Aguilar belts fourth homer against D'backs
Jesus Aguilar homered and scored twice in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Augilar went yard against Diamondbacks starter Zack Grienke in the sixth inning for a solo shot, his fourth homer of the year. There was a time when a struggling Aguilar seemed destined for the minors or even possibly a DFA, but he's now hitting .288/.345/.575 through 80 at-bats. He's gotten more playing time in recent weeks with Eric Thames' injury issues, but when Thames is healthy the 26-year-old is relegated to a bench role. Yesterday, 5:06 pm
  • Joseph gets two key hits in win over Reds
Tommy Joseph hit a solo home run and delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: His single to center field scored Aaron Altherr with the winning run in dramatic fashion. He homered off veteran Bronson Arroyo earlier in the game. Joseph was brutally bad in the month of April but has turned his season around of late. For the season he is batting .255/.313/.476 with eight home runs and 24 RBI. That slash line is very close to the .257/.308/.505 line he yielded in his promising rookie campaign a year ago. Yesterday, 4:39 pm
  • Slumping Posey getting the night off Saturday
Buster Posey is not in the Giants' lineup Saturday against the Braves.

Advice: Posey is mired in a 3-for-23 slump so manager Bruce Bochy will give him a night to clear his head. Nick Hundley is behind the plate and batting seventh Saturday against Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz. Despite his recent struggles, Posey still carries the NL's fifth-highest batting average at .338. Yesterday, 4:17 pm
  • Moreland stays hot with two hits Saturday
Mitch Moreland chipped in with two hits Saturday in the Red Sox’s win over the Mariners.

Advice: Moreland singled in the sixth and later scored on a two-run blast by Jackie Bradley Jr. He also gave the Red Sox a lift with an RBI single in the eighth inning. Moreland’s first year in Boston has been full of peaks and valleys but he’s been on the upswing recently with 13 hits in his last 35 at-bats (.371). He also ranks third in the majors with 16 doubles this year. Yesterday, 3:52 pm
  • Todd Frazier sitting for Saturday's nightcap
Todd Frazier is not in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Advice: Frazier went 0-for-4 in the opener, dropping his season average to a dismal .184. Matt Davidson will man third base and bat fifth against Tigers starter Buck Farmer in the nightcap. Yesterday, 2:42 pm
  • Matt Carpenter absent from Saturday's lineup
Matt Carpenter is not in the Cardinals' lineup Saturday against the Rockies.

Advice: The slumping Carpenter has hit just .151 over his last eight games (5-for-33). Jedd Gyorko will fill in at first base and bat fifth Saturday against Rockies hurler Kyle Freeland. Yesterday, 2:40 pm
  • Romine goes 2-for-4 with a walk vs White Sox
Andrew Romine went 2-for-4 and worked a walk during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the White Sox.

Advice: His two singles represented half the hits his club could manage in the ballgame, so it is no surprise they failed to score. The veteran utility man has played every position except pitcher and catcher for the Tigers this year. He has a .228 batting average with two home runs, 18 runs scored and 11 RBI in 129 plate appearances. Yesterday, 2:27 pm

  • Eric Hosmer tossed for arguing check swing
Eric Hosmer was ejected from Saturday's game against the Indians for arguing a check swing.

Advice: Hosmer struck out on a check swing with the bases loaded in the first inning and gave home plate umpire Bill Welke a piece of his mind. Manager Ned Yost was also tossed after coming to Hosmer's defense. The ejection was the second of Hosmer's career. Cheslor Cuthbert is now in at first base. Yesterday, 1:38 pm
  • Holliday blasts two-run homer to lead Yankees
Matt Holliday blasted a two-run homer on Saturday, powering the Yankees to a 3-2 victory over the Athletics.

Advice: Holliday's two-run shot off of A's starter Jharel Coton broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3 and is now hitting .269/.365/.503 with nine long balls and 30 RBI on the season. Yesterday, 1:28 pm
  • Daniel Murphyvout of lineup due to illness
Daniel Murphy is out of the Nationals' lineup on Saturday due to a stomach illness.

Advice: That explains his absence from the lineup the last two days and is much more encouraging than hearing he's dealing with an injury. Wilmer Difo continues fill in at second base in his absence. Yesterday, 12:08 pm
    10:35 am vs SD
  • Wil Myers not in Padres lineup on Saturday
Wil Myers is not in the Padres' starting lineup for Saturday's showdown against Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals.

Advice: An already weak Padres lineup looks even worse without Myers in there. Look for him to be back in there on Sunday. Yesterday, 12:04 pm
  • Daniel Murphy remains out of Nationals lineup
Daniel Murphy is once again out of the Nationals' starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Acting manager Chris Speier indicated nothing was wrong physically on Friday, but it's a troubling sign that he's sitting out a second straight game. Wilmer Difo is starting in his place again and batting eighth for the Nationals on Saturday. Yesterday, 9:17 am
    10:35 am vs SD
  • Alonso could be available off bench Saturday
Yonder Alonso (wrist) will take batting practice prior to Saturday's game and could be available as a pinch-hitter.

Advice: Alonso remains out of the A's starting lineup but is getting closer to a return. He has been sidelined since being hit by a pitch during Tuesday's game. Yesterday, 8:20 am
    10:05 am @NYY
  • Jonathan Lucroy not in Rangers lineup
Jonathan Lucroy is not in the Rangers starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: It's just a routine day of rest for the hard-hitting backstop. Robinson Chirinos is starting in his place and batting cleanup. Yesterday, 7:24 am
  • Alex Avila blasts sixth homer in loss Friday
Alex Avila blasted his sixth home run of the season as the Tigers fell to the White Sox on Friday night in Chicago.

Advice: Avila's solo shot off of Mike Pelfrey in the fifth inning pulled the Tigers to within a run at 3-2, but that would be as close as they would get. Avila has been a monster at the plate this season, slashing .354/.475/.659 with six homers and 20 RBI. With James McCann on the disabled list, he'll continue to see regular run behind the plate. Friday, 11:48 pm
  • Adrian Gonzalez finally belts first home run
Adrian Gonzalez finished 1-for-4 with a two-run home run off of Cubs starter Jake Arrieta in Friday's victory.

Advice: Gonzalez only had four home runs at this point last season and he ended up with 18 homers and 90 RBI, so he isn't that far behind last year's production. He heats up as the weather gets warmer and he still possesses the ability to post clouts and RBI in bunches. Friday, 10:44 pm
  • Mark Reynolds homers, knocks in three
Mark Reynolds went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI against the Cardinals on Friday.

Advice: Reynolds sat out a couple of games in favor of Gerardo Parra earlier this week, even though he has about 300 points of OPS on Parra. He's already starting to fade some and he should continue to decline from here, but he's still a better bet than Parra going forward. Friday, 9:58 pm
  • Logan Morrison hits two-run homer
Logan Morrison had a two-run homer and a walk against the Twins on Friday.

Advice: Morrison got off to a strong start for once, so he's even playing against southpaws at the moment and he homered off one in Hector Santiago tonight. He has eight homers and 20 RBI in 23 games this month. Friday, 9:51 pm
  • Bour slugs three-run homer vs. Angels
Justin Bour had another big night at the plate Friday, finishing 2-for-3 with a three-run homer against the Angels.

Advice: Bour extended the Marlins’ lead when he took lefty Jose Alvarez deep in the sixth inning. It’s worth noting that Angels manager Mike Scioscia elected to intentionally walk Marcell Ozuna to pitch to Bour in that situation. Ouch. The 28-year-old now has nine home runs over his last 14 games, including four homers off southpaws. He’s regularly been benched against lefties in the past, so he has the potential to be a lot more interesting in fantasy leagues if he has figured something out here. Friday, 9:06 pm
  • Duda doubles twice, knocks in a pair vs. PIT
Lucas Duda went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, a walk, and a run scored Friday versus the Pirates.

Advice: Duda now has three multi-hit games in his last four. He walked three times in the one game where he didn’t have at least two hits, so he has been an on-base machine recently. The 31-year-old quietly owns a .926 OPS with five homers and 14 RBI through 26 games. He deserves more attention in mixed fantasy leagues. Friday, 7:13 pm
  • Yonder Alonso (wrist) remains out of lineup
Yonder Alonso (wrist) remained out of the Athletics' lineup Friday.

Advice: Alonso is still sore after being hit on the right wrist by a pitch Tuesday, but he did hit off a tee and will attempt to throw an do defensive work pregame on Friday. He's played just one game over the last week due to a sore knee and now sore wrist. The A's have Ryon Healy at first base and Mark Canha in the designated hitter spot. Daily Slant: This will surely surprise some people, but the Athletics actually lead all of baseball in ISO against RHP this season. While Alonso is one of the biggest reasons why, his absence still doesn't take them out of play as a sneaky against-the-grain stack. They have one of the lower team totals on the board, but Masahiro Tanaka has been all over the map lately and packaging a few of the A's bats together makes it easier to pay up for Max Scherzer. Friday, 12:55 pm
    10:05 am @NYY
  • Murphy, Zimmerman get days off for Nats
Daniel Murphy is not in the Nationals' lineup Friday.

Advice: Ryan Zimmerman is also getting a day off. The Nats are going with Wilmer Difo at second base and Adam Lind at first. Friday, 12:05 pm
    10:35 am vs SD
  • Utley launches first homer of season in win
Chase Utley went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Utley had not hit a home run entering action on Thursday, but he finally got that monkey off his back when he socked a solo shot off Michael Wacha in the second inning. The veteran second baseman acts as a nice clubhouse presence, but not so much with the bat, as he is slashing a mere .204/.292/.312 on the season. Thursday, 10:23 pm
    1:10 pm vs ChC
  • Tigers call up John Hicks from AAA Toledo
Tigers recalled C/1B John Hicks from Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: The Tigers needed a backup catcher with James McCann (hand) headed to the disabled list. Hicks and Alex Avila will share catching duties during McCann's absence. Thursday, 9:07 pm
  • Duda homers, drives in two against Padres
Lucas Duda went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Padres.

Advice: Duda was the only Mets hitter capable of doing much of anything against rookie starter Dinelson Lamet and company, homering off the right-hander in the second inning and adding an RBI single in the eighth. The home run was his fifth of the season. Overall, the first baseman is hitting .244/.392/.500 in 25 games. Thursday, 8:13 pm
  • Tigers to call up C/OF John Hicks on Friday
John Wagner of the Toledo Blade reports John Hicks will be called up from Triple-A Toledo for Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Advice: Teams are allowed to carry an extra player for doubleheaders but the Tigers are already bringing up Buck Farmer to start Game 1. That means a roster move must be coming. James McCann left Thursday night's game with a hand laceration and could be headed to the disabled list. This will be Hicks' third stint with the Tigers this year. Thursday, 7:00 pm
  • Tommy Joseph leads Phillies to win
Tommy Joseph had a homer in the seventh and a walkoff single in the 11th to give the Phillies a 2-1 victory over the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Aaron Altherr has been the Phillies' best hitter this year, but Joseph has been the best his month; he's hitting .329 with six homer in May. It makes one wonder why he was hitting sixth today behind three hitters with OPSs in the .600s. Thursday, 2:18 pm
  • Mark Reynolds goes hitless against Phillies
Mark Reynolds, who was out of the lineup the last two games, went 0-for-4 before being removed from Thursday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: No injuries were reported for Reynolds, but the Rockies used Gerardo Parra over him in back-to-back games before returning him to the lineup today. Reynolds is without an extra-base hit in his last 10 games, though he's still driven in eight runs with nine hits during that span. His OPS, which was as high as 1.092 on May 10, is down to .948 now. Thursday, 1:59 pm
  • Bruce (back) returns to Mets' lineup Thurs.
Jay Bruce (back) is in the Mets' starting lineup on Thursday night against the Padres.

Advice: Bruce sat out Wednesday after making an early exit Tuesday with stiffness in his back. It clearly wasn't anything serious. The veteran outfielder is hitting .250/.331/.513 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI in 41 games this season. Thursday, 12:58 pm
  • Myers goes 2-for-5 with two RBI vs Mets
Wil Myers went 2-for-5 and drove in two runs against the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: His seventh-inning single plated Chase d'Arnaud and Matt Szczur to tie the game at 5-5. Myers also doubled in the game. He is batting .275/.319/.529 with 11 home runs and 29 RBI in 48 games. Wednesday, 9:53 pm
  • Jay Bruce (back) out again Wednesday
Jay Bruce (back) is absent from the Mets' starting lineup on Wednesday versus the Padres.

Advice: Bruce made an early exit Tuesday night after experiencing stiffness in his back. He told reporters Wednesday that it's nothing serious. Wednesday, 12:34 pm
  • Alonso (wrist) not in A's lineup on Wednesday
Yonder Alonso (wrist) is out of the Athletics' starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Marlins.

Advice: Alonso suffered a bruised right wrist Tuesday when he was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning. X-rays turned up negative and he will probably be available off the bench for the A's in their series finale versus the Fish. Ryon Healy is starting at first base and Khris Davis is serving as Oakland's designated hitter on Wednesday. Wednesday, 10:17 am
    10:05 am @NYY
  • Justin Bour records four hits in road win
Justin Bour finished 4-for-5 with a double, solo home run, four runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's win in Oakland.

Advice: Bour has hit safely in a season-high six consecutive games, raising his average to his highest mark of the season at .280. He has also driven in at least one run in five straight outings to make him a must-start in deeper mixed leagues while also serving as a mid-tier value in DFS play. Wednesday, 12:02 am
  • Todd Frazier reaches the seats in Arizona
Todd Frazier finished 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's game at Arizona.

Advice: It was just the fifth homer of the season for Frazier, who has been a bit of a disappointment since coming over from the Reds after the 2015 season. While he belted a career-high 40 homers last year on the south side, he posted a career-worst .225. This season he is hitting a paltry .192, although he is showing signs of life with eight hits over his past 30 hits (.267). Tuesday, 10:55 pm
  • X-rays on Yonder Alonso's wrist are negative
X-rays on Yonder Alonso's right wrist came back negative.

Advice: Alonso was lifted from Tuesday's game after being hit by a pitch, but he's managed to escape with just a bruise. He'll probably still be sore for a bit, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him sit out a game or two. Alonso just returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing time with a knee injury. Tuesday, 10:49 pm
    10:05 am @NYY
  • Alonso pulled from game after HBP on wrist
Yonder Alonso was removed from Tuesday's game against the Marlins after getting hit in the right wrist by a pitch.

Advice: Alonso stayed in to run, but Mark Canha replaced him at first base to open the top of the seventh inning. Alonso homered in the bottom of the second -- his 13th home run of the year -- before leaving after the HBP in the bottom of the sixth. He had just missed a handful of games with a knee sprain. The first baseman is probably headed for X-rays. Tuesday, 9:58 pm
    10:05 am @NYY
  • Lucas Duda knocks in three for Mets
Lucas Duda finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI against the Padres on Tuesday.

Advice: Duda had been just 4-for-26 with no RBI in nine games since returning from the disabled list. Maybe this one will get him started. Tuesday, 7:39 pm
  • Jay Bruce exits game due to back tightness
Jay Bruce left Tuesday's game against the Padres due to back tightness.

Advice: Bruce was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two strikeouts before getting replaced in the sixth inning by Juan Lagares. It's probably going to be a day-to-day thing. Tuesday, 6:09 pm
  • Yonder Alonso (knee) back in Oakland lineup
Yonder Alonso (knee) is back in the Athletics' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Advice: Alonso will start at first base and bat fifth against Marlins right-hander Jose Urena after missing close to a week with a bruised left knee. Hopefully the 30-year-old slugger can pick up where he left off. He boasts a .991 OPS (173 OPS+) with 12 home runs and 29 RBI through 38 games this season with the A's. Tuesday, 3:26 pm
    10:05 am @NYY
  • Reynolds getting the night off Tuesday
Mark Reynolds is getting the night off Tuesday versus the Phillies.

Advice: Ian Desmond will start at first base and bat fifth versus Philadelphia right-hander Zach Eflin. Gerardo Parra is in left field and batting sixth. Tuesday, 12:57 pm
  • John Hicks optioned to Triple-A
Tigers optioned C/1B John Hicks to Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Hicks was up for the weekend while Victor Martinez was on paternity leave. He's hit .423/.444/.654 in seven games with the big club this season. Monday, 2:24 pm
  • Ian Desmond not in Monday's lineup
Ian Desmond is not in the Rockies' lineup Monday.

Advice: He's just getting a day off. Gerardo Parra is in left field and Mark Reynolds is at first base. Monday, 1:19 pm
  • Jonathan Lucroy plates two in win on Sunday
Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI as the Rangers topped the Tigers on Sunday night in Detroit.

Advice: Lucroy got the Rangers on the board with an RBI single in the first inning, then he capped off the scoring with an RBI double in the ninth. His bat has started to heat up after his move to the cleanup spot in the lineup, and he's now hitting .277/.320/.412 with three long balls and 12 RBI. Sunday, 8:51 pm
  • Moreland homers in third consecutive game
Mitch Moreland went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the A's.

Advice: Moreland connected for a two-run home run off Andrew Triggs in the sixth inning, his fifth of the season and his third in as many days. He has driven in five runs in that three-game space and now owns a .250/.352/.454 triple-slash over the course of 152 at-bats. Sunday, 4:55 pm
  • Adrian Gonzalez notches two-run double
Adrian Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a two-run double in Sunday's win over the Marlins.

Advice: Gonzalez handed Brandon McCarthy an early 2-0 lead with his two-run double off Vance Worley in the first inning. He later picked up a single and another double to finish with three hits on the afternoon. Since being activated from the disabled list on May 18 after missing the bulk of the month due to back and elbow injuries, the veteran first baseman has picked up four hits over 12 at-bats. He is still searching for his first home run. Sunday, 4:29 pm
  • Justin Bour socks late homer in loss to LAD
Justin Bour went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Bour hit a leadoff home run against Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning to draw the Marlins to within 6-3. While that kept matters at least vaguely interesting, Bour's squad was unable to creep any closer, as that score held as the final. The 27-year-old first baseman is as locked in as any hitter in the game right now, having swatted six home runs in his last 10 games. He has cracked 11 homers and driven in 28 runs for the season as a whole. Sunday, 4:27 pm
  • Daniel Murphy powers Nationals past Braves
Daniel Murphy blasted his ninth home run of the season on Sunday, powering the Nationals to a 3-2 victory over the Braves in Atlanta.

Advice: Murphy got the scoring started in the ballgame, taking Braves' starter Jaime Garcia deep for a solo shot in the second inning. He also singled in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 2-for-4. He's enjoying another terrific season offensively, slashing .327/.387/.576 with nine homers and 33 RBI. Sunday, 1:36 pm
    10:35 am vs SD
  • Yonder Alonso (knee) held out again Sunday
Yonder Alonso (knee) remained out of the Athletics' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Alonso hasn't played since Wednesday due to a bruised left knee. He's available off the bench, though, and is expected back in the lineup Tuesday after Monday's off day. Oakland has Ryon Healy at first base, Jed Lowrie in the designated hitter spot and Chad Pinder at second Sunday. Sunday, 10:45 am
    10:05 am @NYY
  • Buster Posey getting a day off Sunday
Buster Posey is not in the Giants' lineup Sunday.

Advice: He's getting a breather after Saturday's extra-innings game. Nick Hundley will do the catching. Sunday, 8:50 am
  • Tommy Joseph not in Sunday's lineup
Tommy Joseph is not in the Phillies' lineup Sunday.

Advice: It's a routine day off. The Phillies are also resting Cameron Rupp, as they have Brock Stassi at first base and Andrew Knapp at catcher. Sunday, 7:05 am
  • Cody Bellinger continues to roll along
Cody Bellinger finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Saturday's loss against the Marlins.

Advice: Bellinger has homers in back-to-back games and at least one RBI in four straight outings. The rookie is showing no signs of slowing down and will continue to play every day with several injuries to Dodger Blue regulars. Bellinger has emerged as a must-start fantasy option across all formats. Sunday, 1:13 am
  • Alex Avila pushes average to .382
Alex Avila finished 3-for-3 with a double, a solo home run, a walk, two runs scored and three RBI in Saturday's win against the Rangers.

Advice: Avila continues to scorch at the plate, driving in nine runs across 10 games in the month of May. He continues to hit for high average and he is slashing an amazing .382/.488/.706 overall on the season. Avila has a .243 career average and .751 OPS, so this type of production isn't likely to be sustainable. Avila is a great sell-high candidate in most fantasy formats. Saturday, 8:28 pm
  • Jonathan Lucroy reaches the seats
Jonathan Lucroy belted a solo home run in four trips to the plate Saturday in Detroit.

Advice: Lucroy has hit safely in a season-high eight straight games, as he continues to tear it up in the month of May. He is hitting a robust .353 (18-for-51) with four doubles, two homers, six RBI and a .926 OPS while striking out just two times. Lucroy also has an RBI in four consecutive outings. Saturday, 8:08 pm
  • Yonder Alonso (knee) sits again on Saturday
Yonder Alonso (knee) remains out of the Athletics' starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: A's skipper Bob Melvin said Friday that Alonso could be held out until Tuesday and it's looking more and more like that will be the case. Ryon Healy is getting another start in his place at first base while Chad Pinder functions as the designated hitter. Saturday, 10:11 am
    10:05 am @NYY
  • Tigers recall John Hicks from Triple-A Toledo
Tigers recalled 1B John Hicks from Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: With Miguel Cabrera banged up and Victor Martinez away on paternity leave, Hicks will add an extra bat for the Tigers. He hit .423 with seven RBI in his seven games with the big league club this season. Saturday, 8:57 am
  • Cody Bellinger hits eighth homer
Cody Bellinger hit his eighth homer Friday off the Marlins' A.J. Ramos.

Advice: The Dodgers were up 5-0 at the time, so maybe Ramos wasn't trying his absolute hardest in this one. Still, he's not an easy guy to homer off of. Bellinger's eighth homer came in his 23rd career game. He's still right at an RBI per game. Friday, 11:39 pm
  • Murphy homers in second straight game
Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday’s loss to the Braves.

Mitch Moreland went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the A's.

Advice: Moreland temporarily knotted up the score at 3-3 with his solo home run off Sonny Gray in the fourth inning, but the A's would come right back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame to take a lead that would not be relinquished. He went 1-for-2 in those attempts, with the successful one counting as his second of the season. While the veteran infielder has picked up hits in three of his last four games, he sports an uninspiring .216/.314/.311 triple-slash overall. Thursday, 10:49 pm
