• Shelved with forearm injury
The Blue Jays placed Francis on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right forearm extensor tendinitis.

Advice: Since making his last start April 7, Francis has made his subsequent three appearances as a piggyback reliever behind starter Yariel Rodriguez. Francis scooped up wins in 2.1- and two-inning outings April 13 and 19, but he didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Royals after tossing two scoreless frames once Rodriguez exited the contest. Though he didn't appear to be nursing any sort of injury during the relief outing, Francis was apparently diagnosed with the forearm issue when he was evaluated afterward. He won't be eligible to rejoin Toronto until May 10 after landing on the IL. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago
  • Blue Jays recall Brendon Little from Triple-A
Blue Jays recalled LHP Brendon Little from Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: The 27-year-old reliever will join the Blue Jays as an extra arm as Bowden Francis heads to the injured list. Little has posted a 2.89 ERA, 1.61 WHIP with a 16/8 K/BB ratio in 9 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago
  • Blue Jays place Bowden Francis on 15-day IL
Blue Jays placed RHP Bowden Francis on the 15-day injured list with right forearm extensor tendinitis.

Advice: Francis will be sidelined for at least the next two weeks to get back to full strength. The 28-year-old hasn’t had the best start to the season as he’s allowed 14 earned runs in his 14 2/3 innings. It’s more likely than not that when he returns, he’s in a relief role rather than a part of the Blue Jays’ starting rotation. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago
  • Heads back to Triple-A
The Rangers optioned Anderson to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

Advice: Anderson's latest stint in the majors lasted just one day, and he struck out two in a scoreless inning in Wednesday's win over the Mariners. He's being replaced in the bullpen by Josh Sborz (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago
  • Returns from IL
The Rangers activated Sborz (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Sborz made one rehab appearance with Double-A Frisco on Tuesday, and that was enough to convince the Rangers he was ready to go. The reliever had three scoreless outings for the Rangers earlier this month before going down with a rotator cuff strain. Sborz should regain his high-leverage relief role immediately. • Royals recall Will Klein
Royals recalled RHP Will Klein from Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: The 24-year-old has made nine appearances at the Triple-A level where he’s collected three saves and hasn’t allowed a run in his 11 innings pitched. He’s shown major improvement compared to last season when he posted a 5.66 ERA, 1.86 WHIP across 35 innings with Omaha. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago
  • Rangers option Grant Anderson to Triple-A
Rangers optioned RHP Grant Anderson to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: With Josh Sborz back with the Rangers, the team will send down Anderson who didn’t put have his best stuff when his number was called while with the Rangers. The 26-year-old finished with a 12.00 ERA in his three innings of work with Texas. He’ll continue to develop at the Triple-A level and could get called up again if there’s a need of a fresh arm in the bullpen. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
  • Rangers activate Josh Sborz from 15-day IL
Rangers activated RHP Josh Sborz (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Sborz will join the Rangers’ active roster after spending a little over two weeks on the injured list. The 30-year-old should come back and be plugged in as a set up reliever and has done well early on this season with zero earned runs allowed across 2 2/3 innings. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
  • Will make rehab start
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Pivetta (elbow) will make at least one rehab start before rejoining the rotation, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: The initial hope was that Pivetta could return from a right elbow flexor strain following a minimum stint on the injured list. That hasn't happened, as he's already missed more than 15 days. However, the right-hander has resumed throwing off a mound and could be sent out on a rehab assignment soon. A return in early May for Pivetta looks doable. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago
