• Paul Skenes fans 11 over seven no-hit innings
Paul Skenes didn’t allow a hit over seven innings while striking out 11 against the Brewers on Thursday to get a win in a 1-0 victory for the Pirates.

Advice: Spectacular. Skenes was pulled despite allowing just a walk over his seven innings after throwing 99 pitches — 65 of them for strikes. Colin Holderman immediately allowed a hit after Skenes left the outing to prevent the combined no-no. It would be almost impossible to overstate how impressive the 22-year-old has been since being promoted to Pittsburgh, and a 1.90 ERA and 89/12 K/BB over 11 starts will do the talking for us. Skenes very well could start the All-Star game on Tuesday, and you’d have to hate the city of Pittsburgh very much to suggest he’s undeserving of such an honor. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:34 pm
  • Brandon Nimmo drives in three versus Nationals
Brandon Nimmo drove in three runs in a blowout win Thursday over the Nationals.

Advice: With the score tied at 0-0, Nimmo opened the floodgates with a three-run double off MacKenzie Gore to make it 3-0, and that was all the offense the Mets would need. They scored four more runs, anyway, but still true. Nimmo is already up to 62 RBI on the season, and is enjoying a solid first half of 2024 with a line of .252/.365/.466. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:05 pm
  • David Hamilton back in the lineup vs RHP
David Hamilton is back in the lineup with the Red Sox facing right-hander Luis Medina.

Advice: Hamilton will start at second base and hit second, which is typical for him against righties. Wilyer Abreu and Dominic Smith are also back in the lineup after sitting out on Wednesday against a left-handed pitcher. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:53 am

  • Bowden: Phillies linked to Jazz, Robert Jr., more
According to The Athletic’s Jim Bowden, the Phillies “have made center field a priority” and are interested in several high-profile targets.

Advice: Bowden claims the Phillies “have been linked to Luis Robert Jr. of the White Sox, Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the Marlins, Cody Bellinger of the Cubs, Jake McCarthy of the Diamondbacks, and Jacob Young of the Nationals, among others.” McCarthy and Young would likely cost the least to acquire, but the Marlins have expressed a willingness to deal Chisholm during his first fully healthy season, so the Phillies could look to gamble there. Bowden believes it would be “surprising” if the Phillies didn’t land a new centerfielder at the deadline. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:56 am
  • Another homer, four RBI in win
Clement went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Clement smacked a three-run shot off Logan Webb in the fifth to put Toronto on top 3-2 and then added an RBI single his next at-bat to extend the lead. The 28-year-old finished the night with three hits for only the second time on the campaign, and he's now homered in back-to-back games. Clement has also hit safely in three straight, going 5-for-13 (.384) over that stretch with seven RBI and three runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:50 am

  • Cleared to start Thursday
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said that Pfaadt (ankle) will start Thursday's game against Atlanta at Chase Field, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Pfaadt's most recent start Saturday against the Padres was cut short when he was struck on the left ankle by a comebacker, but he was diagnosed with nothing more than a bruise after X-rays returned negative. The right-hander was able to complete his between-starts bullpen session with no apparent discomfort, so he shouldn't face any restrictions when he takes the hill Thursday on his typical four days' rest. • Nabs 12th save
Sewald pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save over Atlanta on Wednesday.

Advice: Sewald entered the contest with a two-run lead in the ninth and needed only eight pitches to retire the side for his 12th save of the campaign. It was a nice bounce-back effort for the closer, who had allowed multiple runs and blown a save in his previous three outings. It was also Sewald's third appearance in which he didn't allow any hits or walks over his last six. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:17 am

  • Goes deep in win
Suarez went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-5 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Suarez launched a no-doubt, two-run home run to left field in the second inning to tie the game. He later delivered a run with a seventh-inning double. It's a small sample size, but Suarez may be emerging from a season-long slump. He was batting .192 with a .584 OPS as recently as June 23, but the third baseman has posted a .298 average and .942 OPS in the 14 games since, including two home runs and nine RBI over the last four contests. • Homers again Wednesday
Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-2 victory versus the Nationals on Wednesday.

Advice: Nimmo got New York off to a strong start with a 440-foot solo blast in the first inning. It was his third straight game with a long ball and his fourth straight contest with at least one RBI. Nimmo logged career-best marks with 24 homers and 68 RBI last season, and he is on pace to surpass both totals in 2024 with 16 home runs and 59 RBI through 380 plate appearances.
