    Advice: Gore struggled against the team that drafted him, as the Padres put up multiple runs in the first and fifth innings. The southpaw has lost three of his five starts in June, giving up 18 runs (17 earned) over 26.1 innings. He's now at a 3.81 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 99:28 K:BB through 85 innings across 16 starts on the year. Gore is projected to make his next start at home versus the Mets.     Profar went 1-for-3 with a grand slam, a hit-by-pitch and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

    Advice: Profar gave the Padres the extra cushion they ultimately needed when he slugged a grand slam in the sixth inning. The Nationals attempted a comeback but fell short. After a brief absence with a knee injury over the weekend, Profar has resumed his hot hitting --he's 10-for-36 (.278) with nine RBI during his nine-game hitting streak.     Suarez allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out one over one inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

    Advice: Suarez has converted his last three save chances after a blown save June 18 versus the Phillies. He's now at 20 saves on the year, and he's the fifth pitcher in the majors to reach that milestone in 2024. Of those top-tier closers, Suarez's 1.09 ERA is second only to Cleveland's Emmanuel Clase (0.70). Suarez has also maintained a 0.79 WHIP and 30:6 K:BB over 33 innings this season.     Advice: Diaz led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, continuing his excellent run of recent production. He has gone deep three times in his last six starts and also has at least one RBI in seven straight games. Diaz also extended his hitting streak to 18 games, during which he's hit .358.     Jurickson Profar hit a grand slam Tuesday in the Padres’ 9-7 takedown of the Nationals.

    Advice: This game had a little bit of everything, including a benches-clearing incident, a manager ejection, some extended player admiration of home runs, ugly defense, boneheaded baserunning and 16 runs in all. What it didn’t have was strikeouts; the teams totaled just five, and Nationals hitters went the first eight innings without any at all. Profar, coming off a walkoff hit Monday, was involved in the early confrontation that emptied the dugouts and then immediately was hit by a pitch after warnings were issued. Immediately after that, he scored on a Manny Machado homer. His slam, a line-drive homer down the right field line, was the fourth of his career.   • Robert Suarez picks up 20th save for Padres
    Robert Suarez recorded his 20th save after allowing an unearned run in the ninth Tuesday against the Nationals.

  • MacKenzie Gore gives up five runs, loses to Padres
    MacKenzie Gore surrendered five runs in five innings Tuesday in a loss to the Padres.

    Advice: Gore was lucky not to be tossed at the beginning of this one, as he hit Jurickson Profar in the back leg with a pitch right after warnings were issued because of some thoroughly unnecessary jawing and a benches-clearing incident. Gore’s pitch, though, didn’t seem to be intentional. It did lead to an ejection anyway, as Padres manager Mike Shildt was ejected for taking issue with Gore not being tossed.   • Nabs two bags in loss
    Garcia went 0-for-2 with two steals, two walks and one run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins.

    Advice: Garcia drew a second consecutive start at the keystone and stole two bases in the first inning after leading off with a walk. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in June as he entered the contest slashing .145/.211/.169 with no homers and four steals across 90 plate appearances. The Kansas City infield became more crowded with CJ Alexander debuting and Michael Massey (back) returning from the injured list Monday, so Garcia will have to start producing at the plate and on the basepaths to maintain a starting role.     Henderson went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in a 10-8 loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.

    Advice: Henderson hit a two-run home run in the first inning then walked and scored in the third. He later singled and scored in the seventh frame and added another walk in the eighth. Henderson registered his seventh-multi hit game in June and is now slashing .333/.436/.667 with seven home runs and 14 RBI this month.
