    • Giancarlo Stanton carries Yankees against Orioles
Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-4 with a home run, walk, and four RBI against the Orioles on Wednesday.

Advice: Stanton single-handedly brought the Yankees back in this one. First, his three-run home run off Yennier Cano cut the Orioles’ lead to 5-4 and then his ninth inning single off Craig Kimbrel sent this game to extra innings. The homer was his 18th in what’s been a tremendous bounce back season for the aging power hitter. Rotoworld Today, 8:14 pm

    • Abraham Toro (shoulder) not in lineup Wednesday
Abraham Toro (shoulder) is not in the Athletics’ starting lineup on Wednesday.

Advice: Toro has apparently been battling a sore shoulder since Sunday’s doubleheader. The Athletics are hopeful that he’ll be able to avoid a stint on the injured list, but if this goes on for another couple of days they may need to change their stance. Tyler Nevin will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat fifth for the A’s against Cole Ragans and the Royals on Wednesday evening. Rotoworld Today, 6:15 pm

    • Battling sore shoulder
Toro has been dealing with shoulder soreness ever since Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Toro's shoulder injury helps explain why he will be missing his second consecutive game Wednesday versus the Royals. The Athletics are still optimistic that the 27-year-old infielder will be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, but he will see a doctor Wednesday in order to determine the best way to approach his injury. Tyler Nevin figures to operate as Oakland's main third baseman while Toro recovers. Rotowire.com Today, 4:17 pm

    • Sitting second straight
Toro isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Although Toro has slashed .309/.338/.456 against left-handed pitchers this season, the Athletics will give Tyler Nevin another start at third base versus southpaw Cole Ragans. Rotowire.com Today, 2:48 pm

    • Kyle Bradish undergoes Tommy John surgery
The Orioles announced on Wednesday that Kyle Bradish underwent successful Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery with an internal brace procedure on Wednesday in Dallas.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander will obviously miss the remainder of the 2024 season and will miss at least the first half of the 2025 campaign as well while recovering from the surgery. Fantasy managers in season-long leagues can safely cut bait now. He finishes the 2024 season with a 2.75 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 53/15 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings in his eight starts. • Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Orioles general manager Mike Elias announced that Bradish (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery with an internal brace Wednesday, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Bradish was first diagnosed with a partial UCL tear in his elbow in mid-February, and while his initial rehab was successful -- he posted a 2.75 ERA and 53:15 K:BB over 39.1 innings covering eight starts -- he suffered a setback coming out of his most recent outing last Friday. After having his elbow re-examined, Bradish made the decision to have the surgery. Elias said Wednesday that he expects Bradish to miss 12-to-18 months, leaving the right-hander's availability for the entire 2025 season in doubt. Rotowire.com Today, 2:06 pm

    • Logan Webb settles for no-decision against Cubs
Logan Webb allowed two runs over seven innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: Webb coughed up a two-run homer to Dansby Swanson in the second inning on Tuesday evening at Wrigley Field, but managed to keep Chicago’s potent lineup off the scoreboard into the late stages of this one. He struck out five and only issued one walk. The 27-year-old righty has completed six frames in eight consecutive starts since May 10. He’ll bring a solid 2.99 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 82/21 K/BB ratio across 99 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a rematch on Monday against the Cubs back at Oracle Park. Rotoworld Today, 2:55 am
    • Secures save Tuesday
Miller struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Royals.

Advice: Miller took a blown save in his last outing, though it was because he allowed an inherited runner to score. He's struggled a bit lately, allowing nine runs (six earned) with a 16:7 K:BB across 12.1 innings over his last 10 appearances. He's still performing quite well in the closer role for the Athletics, pitching to a 2.20 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 57:12 K:BB over 32.2 innings while going 13-for-15 in save chances this year. • Sharp in hard-luck loss
Falter (3-5) took the loss Tuesday against Cincinnati, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Santiago Espinal's two-run homer in the fifth inning accounted for the only runs against Falter on Tuesday, though it proved to be enough to stick the left-hander with the loss in a 2-1 pitcher's duel. Still, it was a nice bounce-back effort from Falter, who lasted just four innings in each of his previous two starts, allowing eight runs in that span. His ERA now sits at 3.74 on the year with a 1.12 WHIP and 52:21 K:BB across 79.1 innings. Falter's currently in line for a rematch with the Reds early next week in his next outing.
