    • Catching bullpen session
Moreno (thumb) will catch Zac Gallen's (hamstring) bullpen session Thursday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: A sprained left thumb forced Moreno onto the injured list Saturday, and Wednesday's bullpen session will allow him to get a feel for how his thumb feels in his glove after a few days of recovery. Assuming all goes well, there is a strong possibility that the 24-year-old backstop will be able to return from the injured list when eligible next Tuesday. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

    • Back from IL, as expected
The Blue Jays activated Bichette (calf) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bichette will skip a rehab assignment and rejoin the floundering Blue Jays following a minimum 10-day stay on the IL. He'll bat leadoff Tuesday against the Red Sox. Isiah Kiner-Falefa had been handling shortstop while Bichette was on the shelf but now will slide back to third base. Rotowire.com Today, 12:30 pm

    • Blue Jays activate Bo Bichette for Tuesday return
Blue Jays activated SS Bo Bichette from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: As expected, Bichette is ready to go after missing the minimum amount of time while dealing with his calf strain. He’ll go back to his role as the everyday shortstop, and has been bumped up to the leadoff spot for Tuesday’s showdown against the sizzling-hot Red Sox at Fenway Park. Rotoworld Today, 12:29 pm

    • Yet to resume throwing
Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Verlander (neck) has yet to resume throwing, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Verlander has been shut down for more than a week with neck discomfort and continues to progress more slowly than expected. The veteran right-hander is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list Monday, but it's too early at this point to know whether he will be ready to go on that day. Houston currently has just four members in its rotation, but it will need to add a fifth if Verlander's injury continues to linger. Rotowire.com Today, 10:55 am

    • Justin Verlander (neck) still not ready to throw
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Tuesday that Justin Verlander (neck) is still making slower progress than anticipated.

Advice: Espada reiterated that this issue isn’t a shoulder, elbow or arm problem; but strictly issues with neck stiffness. The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with the issue, and at this point, it seems unlikely that we see Verlander back until the middle of July — possibly after the All-Star break. That’s just speculation, however, and there’s no concrete timetable for Verlander rejoining the rotation. Rotoworld Today, 10:49 am

    • Coughs up five runs
Falter (3-6) yielded five runs (four earned) on five hits and a walk over four innings Monday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Reds.

Advice: Falter kept Cincinnati off the board for three innings before giving up five runs in the fourth. It was the third time in his last four outings that he was pulled after just four frames. During that span, he's produced an ugly 6.63 ERA, raising his season mark to 4.00 through 83.1 frames. Falter has lost each of his four starts this month and hasn't won since May 24. His next start is currently projected to be at home against the Cardinals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:18 pm
    • Bailey Falter gives up five runs in loss to Reds
Bailey Falter was lit up for five runs (four earned) over four innings on Monday in a loss to the Reds.

Advice: Falter didn’t fare as well this time out in a rematch against the Reds after limiting Cincinnati to just a pair of runs over seven frames last week. He was tagged for five hits and needed 79 pitches (57 strikes) to complete four frames. He finished with two strikeouts and only issued one walk. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh’s bullpen didn’t help matters as they were lit up for six runs over the final five innings, which was enough to ensure he got stuck with another loss. He’ll bring a pedestrian 4.00 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 54/22 K/BB ratio across 83 1/3 innings (15 starts) into a tough road matchup on Sunday against the Braves. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:17 pm
    • Blake Snell (groin) to make second rehab start
Blake Snell, combing back from a groin strain, will make another rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

Advice: Snell struggled in his first outing, giving up two earned runs and walking three in 1 2/3 innings. If he’s better Friday, he could be activated next time through the rotation. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:33 pm

    • Next rehab start coming Friday
Snell (groin) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday and make another rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Snell showed signs of rust during his first rehab appearance with Sacramento on Sunday, and as expected, he'll make at least one more start in the minors before the club considers activating him from the 15-day injured list. The southpaw fired 51 pitches Sunday and will continue to build toward a full workload in his upcoming appearance as he makes his way back from a left groin strain. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:10 pm
