Herz (1-3) took the loss Sunday against the Cardinals. He allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits, two walks and four strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

Advice: Herz pitched a clean first and third inning but ran into trouble the rest of the time before getting pulled in the fifth. His rollercoaster rookie campaign continues as he's scattered impressive starts, like the two with double-digit strikeouts, with rough outings like the one on Sunday. The 23-year-old has a 5.17 ERA with 41 strikeouts over 31.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:56 pm

    • DJ Herz yanked in fifth inning against Cardinals
DJ Herz allowed four earned runs in 4 1/3 innings on Sunday against the Cardinals. He walked two, struck out four, and took the loss.

Advice: There was a lot to like from this start by Herz despite a rather innocuous box score. He threw his second hardest pitch of the season at 96.0 MPH and missed plenty of bats with his fastball. He also spotted some excellent changeups against right-handed batters. He struggled to command his slider and cutter though and was inefficient as a result. There was also some bad luck involved as the Cardinals’ first rally was spurned by a bloop in front of James Woods that turned into a Nolan Gorman RBI double. Still, Herz is a fun pitcher who could be a tweak or two away from going on a run. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:47 pm

    • Graham Ashcraft inefficient in loss
Graham Ashcraft was pulled after 4 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Tigers after allowing six hits and one earned run. He struck out two and walked three.

Advice: This was a classic Ashcraft start with a heap of foul balls, long counts, and traffic on the bases. Fascinatingly, he’s almost completely taken his sinker out of his repertoire since reentering the Reds’ rotation two weeks ago and threw just two total on Sunday. He has never been able to take the stop forward many hoped he would because he can’t find a way to add more pitches to his repertoire. Rather, it’s just non-stop cutters and sinkers which produce laborious starts like his on Sunday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:07 pm

    • Promoted for MLB debut
The Dodgers selected Wrobleski's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City, and he'll start Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: The 23-year-old lefty is one of the organization's top prospects and will make his way to the majors after being at the Triple-A level for less than a month. Wrobleski posted a 3.06 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over 13 starts for Double-A Tulsa to earn the promotion, and he allowed five earned runs with a 17:3 K:BB over his two outings with Oklahoma City. • Reaches base five times in win
Ohtani went 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple, two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-3 win over Milwaukee. He also drew two walks and was hit by a pitch.

Advice: Ohtani drew a leadoff walk in his first trip to the plate before coming home on a Will Smith home run in the following at-bat. The superstar slugger then swiped his 18th bag of the season in the second inning after being hit by a pitch and later added a 430-foot home run of his own to extend the Dodgers' lead to two runs in the eighth. The long ball was his 28th on the campaign, good for second in the majors behind Aaron Judge. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:15 am

    • Takes loss in spot start
Hancock (3-4) took the loss against Toronto on Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four batters over four innings.

Advice: Hancock was called up from the minors to make his first start since June 13 (and his second since May 7). He couldn't give the Mariners much length, though, needing 93 pitches to get through four frames. Hancock could be sent back down to the minors in short order if Bryan Woo (hamstring) is able to return to the big-league rotation next week. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:32 pm
    • Shohei Ohtani fills up box score in win Saturday
Shohei Ohtani homered, tripled, walked twice, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored a run as the Dodgers triumphed over the Brewers on Saturday evening in Los Angeles.

Advice: Ohtani started the home half of the first inning by working a walk off of Freddy Peralta. He then rode home on Will Smith’s two-run blast. The 30-year-old superstar was hit by a pitch with two outs in the second inning and swiped second base, but the Dodgers were unable to cash him in. He then crushed a two-out triple off of Bryse Wilson in the sixth inning but was stranded there. Ohtani also crushed a 430-foot (109.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Bryan Hudson in the eighth inning that extended the Dodgers’ lead to 5-3. He finished the night 2-for-2 officially and is now hitting .316/.402/.643 with 28 homers, 65 RBI and 18 stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:16 pm

    • Emerson Hancock allows two over four-plus vs. TOR
Emerson Hancock gave up two runs in four-plus innings against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: Hancock gave up six hits with two walks — he also hit a batter — while striking out four. The right-hander dealt with plenty of traffic, but only one run was scored while he was in the game, and there were some decent moments for the 25-year-old. Hancock isn’t scheduled to make another start for Seattle, but is worth streaming consideration when he does get the ball against mediocre or worse lineups. Rotoworld Saturday, 4:07 pm
    • Recalled ahead of start
The Mariners recalled Hancock from Triple-A Tacoma to start Saturday's game against Toronto.

Advice: Hancock last pitched for the Mariners on June 13, and he has since thrown 9.1 scoreless innings over two starts in Triple-A. He'll be called upon to get the M's through Saturday's contest, though his time in Seattle's rotation may only last one start with Bryan Woo (hamstring) nearing a return from the IL. Seby Zavala was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:59 am
