• Luis Severino shuts out Marlins over six in win
Luis Severino tossed six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Severino opened the second half with an excellent start against the Marlins, holding them scoreless over six frames. He scattered two hits and three walks while striking out seven batters on 12 whiffs. The 30-year-old right-hander will take a 3.58 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and an 88/40 K/BB ratio across 115 2/3 innings into a start against the Braves in New York on Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 3:51 pm
  • Swipes sixth bag
Kwan went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 7-0 win over the Padres.

Advice: MLB's batting average leader at .354 -- 26 points ahead of second-place Bobby Witt -- Kwan came flying out of the All-Star break with his first multi-hit performance since July 9. The 26-year-old outfielder only has six steals in 10 attempts this season, a disappointing showing after he went 21-for-24 on the basepaths in 2023, but he has successfully swiped bags in back-to-back games and could make an impact in the category in the second half. • Resumes baseball activity
Rengifo (wrist) began throwing, fielding groundballs and hitting off a tee Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Rengifo landed on the injured list July 5 due to right wrist inflammation, and the increased activity is a good indication that he'll be back in action soon. It remains unclear if the Angels will send him for a brief rehab assignment before reinstating him from the IL. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:36 pm

  • Luis Rengifo (wrist) doing baseball activities
Luis Rengifo (wrist) was able to take ground balls, throw and hit off of a tee on Friday without any issues.

Advice: Updates on Rengifo’s status have been few and far between since he landed on the injured list on July 4 with inflammation in his right wrist. It’s unclear if he’ll need a minor league rehab assignment before he’s cleared to rejoin the Angels’ roster, but he sounds like he’s trending in the right direction. The last hurdle to clear may be facing live pitching. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:26 pm

  • Shohei Ohtani goes deep in Midsummer Classic
Shohei Ohtani walloped a three-run homer during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

Advice: Ohtani connected on a center-cut heater from Red Sox starter Tanner Houck, launching a colossal 400-foot no-doubter to right field, putting the National League ahead in the early stages of the Midsummer Classic. The 30-year-old two-way superstar became the first Dodger to homer in the All-Star Game since Mike Piazza back in 1996. It’s yet another signature moment for his end-of-career highlight reel. • MJ Melendez heads to IL with left ankle sprain
Royals placed OF MJ Melendez on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 15, with a left ankle sprain.

Advice: Melendez suffered the ailment during Sunday’s first-half finale against the Red Sox and is most likely going to wind up missing a couple weeks coming out of the All-Star break. The 25-year-old corner outfielder posted an underwhelming .642 OPs with 11 homers, 29 RBI and two steals in 85 games prior to the Midsummer Classic. Rotoworld Tuesday, 12:31 pm

  • On 10-day IL
The Royals placed Melendez on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Melendez suffered a sprained left ankle during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox and will miss at least the Royals' first six games coming out of the All-Star break before he's eligible for activation July 26. While Melendez is sidelined, Dairon Blanco and Garrett Hampson should see action in left field. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:22 pm

  • Ohtani says Derby absence a ‘load issue’
Shohei Ohtani said decided to sit out the Home Run Derby as a “load issue,” and that he could participate next year.

Advice: Ohtani has been taking less batting practice than usual this year as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery. Taking a whole bunch of home run cuts tonight probably wasn’t in his best interests. Rotoworld Monday, 1:22 pm

  • Aaron Judge to bat cleanup for AL All-Stars
Aaron Judge will bat cleanup for the American League in Tuesday’s All-Star Game.

Advice: It seems Bruce Bochy disagrees with Aaron Boone in using Judge as a No. 2 hitter. He has Judge batting behind Steven Kwan, Gunnar Henderson and Juan Soto on Tuesday, so unless someone gets on base, we’ll miss out on a Paul Skenes-Judge matchup. Rounding out the lineup behind Judge will be Yordan Alvarez, José Ramírez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Adley Rutschman and Marcus Semien. Rotoworld Monday, 1:12 pm
