• Brenton Doyle leaves game with finger contusion
Brenton Doyle was removed from Sunday’s game against the Giants in the third inning due to a finger contusion.

Advice: The 26-year-old outfielder wanted to express his frustration after striking out in the first inning on Sunday and angrily threw a towel against a training kit in the dugout. The training kit fought back though as Doyle hit his finger against it in the incident and suffered a contusion. He stayed in the game another inning but ultimately realized that he couldn’t grip a bat or a baseball which is why he was removed. It doesn’t sound like a long-term thing, so Doyle should be considered day-to-day for the time being. Rotoworld Sunday, 6:29 pm

  • Luis Garcia locks down save against Athletics
Luis Garcia locked down the first save chance following the Angels’ trade of Carlos Estevez, working a scoreless ninth inning against the Athletics on Sunday.

Advice: The 37-year-old right-hander was tasked with protecting a two-run lead on Sunday after Ben Joyce shut the A’s down in the seventh and eighth inning. He made it look easy, getting Tyler Nevin on a ground ball to second, Max Schuemann on a fly ball to center and Lawrence Butler on a ground ball to third to end it. If he’s not moved prior to the trade deadline, anticipate that Garcia will continue to get looks in the ninth inning. If he is moved, as is expected, Joyce is the leading candidate to earn saves for the Halos. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:32 pm

  • Dealing with finger injury
Doyle exited Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Giants in the bottom of the third inning with an apparent right index finger contusion, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Advice: Doyle left the game early Sunday after injuring the finger when he threw a towel in the dugout in frustration after a first-inning strikeout and accidentally hit the digit on a training kit. The outfielder is considered day-to-day heading into the Rockies' upcoming series with the Angels, which begins Tuesday. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:13 pm

  • Garrett Crochet pulled after three innings
Garrett Crochet surrendered six hits and five runs, three earned, in three innings against the Mariners on Sunday. He struck out three and walked one in a loss.

Advice: Crochet did not seem like himself in this one. The Mariners tacked on runs in each of the first two innings and an error by Paul DeJong put two more on the board in the third. He has not pitched past the fourth inning since June 30th and likely will not have the same workload he had early for the rest of the season unless he’s traded and signed to an extension, per his agent. • Kevin Kiermaier leaves game with hip contusion
Kevin Kiermaier was removed from Sunday afternoon’s battle against the Rangers due to a left hip contusion.

Advice: The 34-year-old outfielder sustained the injury as he crashed into the center field wall. Fortunately, he appears to have avoid any significant injuries and should be considered day-to-day. Expect him to return to action at some point early next week. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:43 pm

  • Managing bruised hip
Kiermaier was diagnosed with a left hip contusion after leaving Sunday's game against the Rangers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The veteran outfielder suffered the injury during the sixth inning when he had a hard collision with the outfield wall. Kiermaier appears to have avoided a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's doubleheader at Baltimore. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:37 pm

  • Leaves after wall collison
Kiermaier was removed from Sunday's game against the Rangers after colliding with the wall in the outfield, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Kiermaier suffered the injury during the top of the sixth inning and initially remained in the contest, but he was lifted in the bottom of the frame after he recorded a two-out single. The veteran outfielder should be considered day-to-day until more information is available. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:49 pm

  • Stepping in as closer
Angels manager Ron Washington said Sunday that Garcia will take over as the club's primary closer, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The departure of Carlos Estevez leaves the Halos with a hole in the ninth inning, and Garcia will receive the first look as the team's new closer. Garcia has three saves and 12 holds with a 3.80 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB across 44 appearances this year. The veteran right-hander is also a candidate to be traded ahead of Tuesday's deadline given his expiring contact, in which case Ben Joyce would likely see most of those opportunities. • Drives in two in win
Canha went 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Twins.

Advice: Canha batted cleanup and helped lead Detroit to a comfortable win. The veteran has been solid lately, as he's batting .310 over his last 10 games with one home run, five RBI and six runs scored. Canha is a potential trade candidate before Tuesday's deadline, as he's on the last year of his contract, and he would give a contending team a proven MLB hitter who batted .260 or better each of the last two seasons, though he's slumped a bit this year with a .233 average overall.
