    • Gray allows three in loss Thursday
      Sonny Gray allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Rockies on Thursday.



      Advice: Gray gave up two hits, walked four and struck out five. It was an uneven start for Gray, who threw 89 pitches. He had two wild pitches, one of which allowed a run to score. Gray also had a pitch clock violation. While his ERA increased to 3.21 on the year, his xFIP is much lower at 2.64.     • Evan Phillips allows three runs in non-save spot
      Evan Phillips was charged with three runs in the eighth inning on Thursday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

      Advice: Phillips got the call for his first appearance in nearly a week with the Dodgers leading by seven runs at the time and wound up surrendering four hits, including a three-run homer to Oneil Cruz. Fortunately, his struggles didn’t end up impacting the final result of the contest, but it certainly doesn’t do fantasy managers any favors in the ratio departments.     • Walker Buehler shaky in short outing vs. Pirates
      Walker Buehler was charged with four runs (three earned) over three innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

      Advice: Buehler was staked to a four-run lead before taking the mound at PNC Park, but it vanished by the third inning of this one as he was tagged for seven hits, including a two-run homer by Nick Gonzales. It wasn’t completely his fault as the Dodgers committed a pair of errors and weren’t able to make a couple catches on balls that ended up going for hits and drove up his pitch count in the process. He finished with three strikeouts and only issued one walk. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty holds a lackluster 4.82 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 27/8 K/BB ratio across 28 innings (six starts). He hasn’t quite returned to fantasy ace status yet, but it’s still early considering how much time he’s missed since undergoing his second Tommy John surgery.     • MRI reveals bone spur in Joe Musgrove’s elbow
      Joe Musgrove underwent an MRI that revealed a bone spur and contusion in his right elbow.

      Advice: Musgrove, who landed on the injured list last weekend with right elbow inflammation, received both a PRP and cortisone injections to address the issue and hopes to resume throwing in roughly two weeks. The 31-year-old righty told reporters arthroscopic surgery is possible if the issue doesn’t improve, but that’s not being considered as an option for now. He’ll go the rest-and-rehabilitation route in an effort to get back on the mound for San Diego in a couple weeks. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:45 pm

    • Diagnosed with bone spur
      Musgrove has been diagnosed with a bone spur and a bone bruise in his right elbow, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Musgrove got PRP and cortisone injections with the hope of resuming throwing in two weeks. However, there is also the caveat that surgery will be required if healing does not occur. That leaves Musgrove's potential timeline to return to the mound unclear, though it would be surprising to see him back on the mound prior to the All-Star break based on this most recent news.     • Kyle Bradish won’t make scheduled start on Friday
      Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that the entire rotation for the upcoming series against the Rays is “TBD,” meaning Kyle Bradish will have his start pushed back.

      Advice: Hyde was quick to say that “there are no health concerns for Kyle Bradish,” but the decision was “just about giving him extra rest.” The right-hander was hit hard in his last start against the Rays last week but has a strong 3.18 ERA in 28 1/3 innings since coming back from an elbow injury. There is no word yet on when Bradish will pitch, but if the Orioles decide to have him skip the entire series then he would face the Braves next week. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:13 am
       
    • No health concerns, but start TBD
      Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Thursday that the decision to push Bradish's next start back isn't related to health concerns, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

      Advice: Cade Povich was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to start Thursday versus the Blue Jays in what would have been Bradish's turn, but the move was designed simply to give Bradish extra rest. Hyde wasn't ready to commit to when Bradish would make his next start, however, as the Orioles haven't confirmed any of their four starters for their upcoming series with the Rays that begins Friday. Bradish could take the ball one of those days, but having his turn skipped entirely is also a possibility. The right-hander has been excellent overall since coming off the injured list in early May, but he stumbled his last time out, allowing five runs over just 2.2 innings in a no-decision against the Rays last Saturday.       Rodon (8-2) earned the win over Minnesota on Wednesday, allowing two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out nine batters.

      Advice: Rodon was staked to a 4-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back, keeping alive a perfect game until Carlos Santana homered with one out in the sixth frame. The left-handed hurler picked up his sixth consecutive win, and he's notched a quality start in each of those victories. Rodon also dominated with 18 swinging strikes Wednesday en route to a season-high nine punchouts. He's bounced back from a disastrous first year in New York last season to post a 3.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 71:20 K:BB through 73 innings during the current campaign.     • Carlos Rodón strikes out nine in win over Twins
      Carlos Rodón was terrific in Wednesday’s victory over the Twins, piling up nine strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

      Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He kept the Twins’ offense at bat completely through the first five frames until Carlos Santana slugged a solo homer in the sixth inning. The Twins also scratched out a run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Carlos Correa later in the inning. Rodón generated 18 swings and misses on 100 pitches on the night — eight of those on his heater — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. Now 8-2 on the season, Rodón will attempt to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 71/20 K/BB ratio (73 innings) into Monday’s tilt against the Royals in Kansas City.
