    • Rangers add Grant Anderson to bullpen mix
Rangers recalled RHP Grant Anderson from Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Anderson got the call to rejoin the Rangers’ bullpen mix prior to Thursday contest against the Padres. The 27-year-old righty has made 16 relief appearances this season in the majors. Rotoworld Today, 1:11 pm
    • Frankie Montas holds Yankees to two runs in victory
Frankie Montas gave up two runs over five innings to pick up a win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Montas struck out four while walking three and allowing four hits. The right-hander held the Yankees scoreless for the first four frames before allowing a pair of homers in the fifth. The results have been much better as of late for Montas, and while he isn’t missing a ton of bats, he’s allowed no more than two runs in three-straight starts. He’s scheduled to face the Rockies on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 1:10 pm

    • Starting bullpen game Friday
Dubin will start Friday's game in Minnesota, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: It had been the expectation, but the Astros were holding off officially announcing it in case Dubin was needed in relief before then. The 28-year-old threw 55 pitches over 3.1 innings in a start against the Mets over the weekend, but that was his first start in either the majors or minors this season. It will be a bullpen game for Houston. Rotowire.com Today, 1:09 pm
    • Sharp in no-decision
Perez pitched 7.1 innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing one unearned run on six hits while striking out two and walking one.

Advice: Perez pitched into the seventh inning for the second time this season, but he's come away with a no-decision on both of those occasions. The 33-year-old lefty bounced back well Thursday after giving up six runs in his first start back from the injured list last week. Perez has fared much better at home this season with a 3.65 ERA in seven starts, compared to a 5.97 ERA in six road starts. Rotowire.com Today, 1:01 pm

    • Ben Lively gets win after allowing three over six
Ben Lively allowed three runs over six innings to pick up a win against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Lively scattered six hits while striking out six and walking one. The right-hander threw 93 pitches in the outing while landing 65 of them for strikes. He held Chicago to just one run through the first five before allowing a two-run blast to Paul DeJong to turn a strong outing into a fine one, all things considered. Lively has registered a 3.14 ERA and will be back on the bump next week against the Tigers. Rotoworld Today, 12:59 pm

    • Jared Shuster allows two over two against Guardians
Jared Shuster gave up two runs in two innings of work Thursday against the Guardians.

Advice: Shuster wasn’t expected to go more than a couple of innings in his start, and he didn’t “disappoint.” The southpaw went into the third, but was pulled after giving up a homer to Stephen Kwan without getting an out. Shuster has been effective in his relief role, but he doesn’t have the stuff to be a competent starter. Rotoworld Today, 12:59 pm

    • Josh Hader works around hit to pick up save
Josh Hader allowed a hit but no runs while picking up a save Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hader gave up the hit, but worked around it while picking up his 14th save for the surging Astros. The left-hander needed just nine pitches to get through the inning, and six of those went for strikes. There’s every reason to believe Hader will be one of the best closers in baseball during the second half of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm

    • Strong outing in no-decision
Pallante came away with a no-decision in Thursday's win over the Pirates. He allowed one run in seven innings, giving up four hits and striking out five.

Advice: The right-hander gave up a solo home run to Bryan Reynolds in the fourth, which turned out to be Pallante's only hiccup Thursday. For the third time in his career and the first this season, he went at least seven innings in a start. He's been a dependable option for the Cardinals since being inserted into the rotation in May, pitching to a 3.34 ERA over seven starts. Outside of his starts versus the Astros and Giants, in which he gave up a combined 11 earned runs, Pallante has only given up two earned runs in his other five starts this season. • Martín Pérez allows just unearned run vs. Cards
Martín Pérez allowed just an unearned run over 7 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: The run Pérez allowed was unearned, but it was his fault since it was his error that created it. That being said, it was an excellent outing for the southpaw even without many missed bats, as he scattered six hits while issuing just one walk. Even with the quality start — literally and figuratively — Pérez still has a 4.74 ERA, and he’d be a risky streamer for his scheduled start against Milwaukee on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 12:32 pm
