    • Getting day off
Gurriel is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Gurriel will get a breather Friday after making five straight starts in left field. Jake McCarthy will slide to left while Randal Grichuk steps into right field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:28 pm
    • Returns to action
O'Neill started at designated hitter and went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in Thursday's 14-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: This was O'Neill's second game back after being reinstated from the injured list Wednesday. He played nine innings in right field Wednesday. The veteran outfielder hit safely in both games, going 4-for-7 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored. Given the blowout nature of Thursday's contest, Red Sox manager Alex Cora opted to pull O'Neill after six innings. Rotowire.com Today, 5:30 am

    • Doubles home go-ahead run
Friedl went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Cubs.

Advice: In a back-and-forth affair, Friedl produced the go-ahead run in the sixth inning with a two-out double off lefty reliever Luke Little. The double extended Friedl's hit streak to five games, during which he's 6-for-19 with three extra-base hits, seven RBI and six runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 4:33 am
    • Two steals in win
Witt went 1-for-4 with a walk and two stolen bases in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Guardians.

Advice: Witt has gone 13-for-31 (.419) with 10 RBI and three steals during his seven-game hitting streak. While he didn't score Thursday, he was active on the basepaths for his third multi-steal game of the season. The shortstop is up to a .317/.371/.560 slash line with 19 thefts, 11 home runs, 46 RBI and 54 runs scored through 63 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:30 pm

    • X-rays clean after HBP
X-rays on Stephenson's right hand came back clean Thursday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Stephenson was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning and remained in the game. He apparently had some lingering effects, however, as he got X-rays after the contest. The team may give him an extra day of rest during its weekend series against the Cubs, but Stephenson appears to have avoided serious injury. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:53 pm
    • India drives in two in win against Cubs Thursday
Jonathan India went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: India had an RBI single in the sixth inning and walked with the bases loaded in the seventh inning. He was dropped in the order after a slow start to the season, but India has picked it up going 22-for-76 (.289) with 16 walks in his last 24 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:00 pm

    • Bobby Witt Jr. steals two bags in win over CLE
Bobby Witt Jr. reached twice while stealing two bases in a 4-3 win for the Royals over the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: Witt Jr. is now up to 19 thefts on the year. The speedy superstar is playing at an MVP level with a .317/.371/.560 slash, and has picked up hits in each game thus far in June. If 2025 drafts were held now — and they are decidedly not — it’d be hard to argue that he wouldn’t be the first pick in the overwhelming majority of leagues. Scary to think he’s still only 23, too. • Getting breather
Smith is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh.

Advice: Smith started the first two games of the series, going 3-for-7 with a double, a walk and an RBI. He will yield to Austin Barnes for the series finale as the Dodgers try to avoid a sweep. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:09 pm

    • Reds send Graham Ashcraft to Triple-A
Reds optioned RHP Graham Ashcarft to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Despite ranking high on Stuff+ leaderboards, it has simply never happened for Ashcraft. He has a 5.05 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 62 1/3 innings this season and a career 4.86 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 313 innings. He has a great slider, but the rest of his pitch mix seems to lag behind and the efforts to correct some of his issues against right-handed hitters have fallen short. He’ll try to work things out in the minors but unless he changes his pitch mix, it’s hard to see it happening. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:35 am
