    • Alex Verdugo sits against left-hander on Friday
Alex Verdugo is not in the Yankees’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Braves.

Advice: While Verdugo started each of the team’s last two games against left-handed starters, he’ll get a breather with tough southpaw Chris Sale taking the hill for the Braves on Friday night. Verdugo is enjoying a solid season for the Bombers’, slashing .254/.309/.413 with nine homers and 41 RBI through his first 74 ballgames. Jahmai Jones will start in his place in left field and bat fifth for the Yankees on Friday evening in the Bronx. Rotoworld Friday, 1:10 pm

    • Sitting against lefty
Verdugo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Verdugo will dodge a matchup with southpaw Chris Sale on Friday. Instead, Jahmai Jones will bat fifth and fill left field. Rotowire.com Friday, 12:39 pm

    • Another multi-hit game
Mullins went 2-for-6 with a double, a two-run homer and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Yankees.

Advice: Mullins capitalized on a hanging slider from Luis Gil in the top of the second and sent it into the stands in right field for a two-run shot, giving the Orioles an early 3-1 lead. The outfielder would then add a double in the ninth before coming around to score for a third time, giving him back-to-back multi-hit games. Mullins has also scored multiple runs in two straight contests, while Thursday's home run marked his first long ball since April 26 against the Athletics. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:09 pm
    • Aims for baseball activities soon
Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that he's hopeful Tucker (shin) will be ready to begin baseball activities this weekend, Casey Drottar of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Tucker's recovery from a right shin contusion has come along more slowly than expected, but he seems to have made some progress in recent days. Because he's already missed more than two weeks, Tucker could require a brief rehab assignment before returning from the 10-day injured list. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:25 am

    • Espada: “Hopeful” Tucker start activities
Astros manager Joe Espada said he was “hopeful Kyle Tucker can begin doing baseball activities on the field this weekend.”

Advice: Tucker’s shin contusion has kept him out longer than most expected, but it’s nice to hear he may progress to working out on the field this weekend. If that goes well, he may require a few rehab games since he’s been out for almost two weeks, but we could see Tucker back in an Astros uniform by the end of next week if his shin responds well to these next steps. • Two hits, two steals in win
Mullins went 2-for-5 with one RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in a 7-6 win over the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Mullins singled, stole second base and scored on a Ramon Urias home run in the fifth inning. He then took over in the 10th frame, hitting an RBI single, stealing third and scoring on an errant throw. Mullins saw a five-game hitting streak come to an end Tuesday but responded with a big game that included his first RBI in the month of June. While his .193 batting average is obviously disappointing, Mullins has still managed to accumulate six home runs and 15 steals over 224 plate appearances in 2024. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:32 pm
    • Cedric Mullins with game-winning hit, two steals
Cedric Mullins went 2-for-5 with an RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases in the Orioles’ 7-6 win over the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Mullins played hero in this exciting game with a bloop single that gave Baltimore the lead in the 10th inning. He then came around to score after Jose Trevino sailed a throw into left field as Mullins stole third base. A weight seemed to lift off his shoulders as he crossed the plate, playing the hero in what’s been a disastrous season thus far. Mullins isn’t out of the woods yet, but this game was a welcome sight. • Settling back into reserve role
Julks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Julks is on the bench after he started in each of the White Sox's last three games, with the latter two coming against left-handed pitchers. Though he's served as a near-everyday player for much of his time with the White Sox since getting called up from Triple-A Charlotte on May 17, Julks appears set to lose out on regularly playing time moving forward following the recent returns of Andrew Benintendi and Tommy Pham from the injured list. • Kyle Tucker (shin) still not back to baseball activity
Kyle Tucker (shin) still hasn’t resumed baseball activities.

Advice: Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that there was optimism Tucker would be able to resume some baseball activities by this point, but that hasn’t happened. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar has been out since early June due to a right shin contusion. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:19 pm
