Craig Kimbrel struck out the side and walked one batter on Wednesday to nail down the save against the Guardians.
Advice: Kimbrel continues to drink from the fountain of youth. His 17th save to break the Orioles losing streak and he has his highest strikeout rate since 2021. He is locked in as the closer in Baltimore. RotoworldToday, 6:12 pm
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Ortiz was removed from Wednesday's win over the Rangers due to a neck injury, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Advice: The injury apparently surfaced during last week's series against the Angels, and it prompted his removal from Wednesday's contest in the sixth inning after going 0-for-2. Ortiz's ability to play through the issue indicates it isn't a serious concern, so he could be back in action Friday versus the Cubs following Thursday's team off day. Rotowire.comToday, 2:29 pm
Willson Contreras winds up 0-for-5 against Rangers
William Contreras went 0-for-5 on Wednesday, dropping his OPS back under .800.
Advice: Contreras has not been getting results for a good month now, but things might be starting to turn around some. He had doubles on both Monday and Tuesday. Today, his four balls in play, one of which left the bat at 107.5 mph, had xBAs of .870, .480, .470 and .260. RotoworldToday, 2:17 pm
Marcus Semien finished 0-for-5 on Wednesday and is in a 4-for-41 slump in his last 10 games.
Advice: Semien started off well enough in April, but he’s been treading water for about two months now, and particularly unfortunate for fantasy leaguers is that he’s attempted just four steals this season, converting three of them. Semien figures to improve from here, but it remains to be seen if he’ll get back to stealing bases at all. RotoworldToday, 2:16 pm
Joey Ortiz leaves game due to neck issue Wednesday
Joey Ortiz was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Rangers due to a neck issue.
Advice: Brewers’ skipper Pat Murphy said after the game that Ortiz has been battling the neck injury for a while now, and that it didn’t occur when he ran into the tarp while chasing a foul ball on Wednesday. It’s unclear if he’s going to ultimately require a trip to the injured list, or if the Brewers will continue to take things on a day-to-day basis. RotoworldToday, 2:15 pm
Yandy Díaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday in the Rays’ loss to the Mariners.
Advice: Díaz kicked off the scoring with a run-scoring single off Mariners starter George Kirby in the third inning, marking his eighth consecutive contest with an RBI since June 19. The 32-year-old on-base machine has caught fire over the last few weeks, batting .353 (24-for-68) with three homers and 11 RBI over his last 15 games. RotoworldToday, 1:22 pm
Ortiz was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth inning with an apparent injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He went hitless in two at-bats before leaving the game.
Advice: Ortiz ran into the tarp while chasing after a pop-up in the top of the sixth, and though he initially stayed in the game, he was lifted in favor of a pinch hitter in the bottom of the frame. It's not clear yet what injury Ortiz might be dealing with, but the Brewers should offer more clarity soon. Rotowire.comToday, 1:03 pm
Diaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Mariners.
Advice: With his first-inning single off George Kirby, Diaz extended his streak to 19 games and tied the franchise record in the process. He's been a great tone-setter, with 40 RBI out of the leadoff spot this season, one of five players to reach that mark thus far. The 32-year-old has been on a tear in June, hitting .343 with three homers and 15 RBI. Rotowire.comToday, 1:01 pm
Joey Ortiz left Wednesday’s game in the sixth inning with an apparent injury.
Advice: Ortiz might have gotten hurt running into the tarp while running after a foul ball. He finished the half-inning, but Andruw Monasterio then pinch-hit for him. RotoworldToday, 12:55 pm
