    • Still in holding pattern
Munoz (back) says he is feeling better and remains optimistic he'll avoid the injured list, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The results of the right-hander's MRI are still pending, but Munoz appears confident the flare-up that caused his removal from Tuesday's appearance is temporary. Munoz revealed Wednesday he'd actually been dealing with his back strain since the second game of the season and has been managing it with treatment and other pain management remedies. Consequently, the collision with the Athletics' Max Schuemann in Tuesday's game wasn't the actual culprit, as Munoz added he'd already been feeling back tightness when warming up in the bullpen that night. Munoz's MRI results could be the ultimate determinant of whether he avoids an IL stint, with those results likely to be available at some point Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 9:10 am
    • Getting break from rehab stint
Cavalli (elbow) hasn't pitched since May 30, but the Nationals are simply giving him some rest before the final push in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. "Just giving himself a little break, a little breather," manager Dave Martinez said Wednesday. "He's been pushing himself pretty hard. We're still ahead of the game a little bit. We just want to ease up a little bit."

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander underwent the procedure in March 2023, and the organization is making sure he'll be fully recovered when he finally comes off IL. Cavalli has struck out 10 batters in 5.1 innings over his first two rehab appearances, one in the Florida Complex League and one with High-A Wilmington, but the Nats have yet to set a date for his next start. He's expected to join the big-league rotation before the end of the month. Rotowire.com Today, 9:06 am

    • No health concerns, but start TBD
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Thursday that the decision to push Bradish's next start back isn't related to health concerns, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Cade Povich was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to start Thursday versus the Blue Jays in what would have been Bradish's turn, but the move was designed simply to give Bradish extra rest. Hyde wasn't ready to commit to when Bradish would make his next start, however, as the Orioles haven't confirmed any of their four starters for their upcoming series with the Rays that begins Friday. Bradish could take the ball one of those days, but having his turn skipped entirely is also a possibility. The right-hander has been excellent overall since coming off the injured list in early May, but he stumbled his last time out, allowing five runs over just 2.2 innings in a no-decision against the Rays last Saturday. • Drives in three against Nats
Bader went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.

Advice: The 30-year-old brought home Tyrone Taylor with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning before knocking a two-run double in the sixth. Bader has produced multiple RBI in three straight games, and on the season he carries a .272/.317/.376 slash line with three homers, eight steals, 21 runs and 23 RBI in 55 contests. • Clubs homer No. 10
Lindor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.

Advice: The shortstop produced his fourth multi-hit performance in the last seven games as he continues to heat up. Lindor has hit safely in 14 of the last 15 contests, slashing .359/.406/.594 over that stretch with three homers, three steals, seven runs and nine RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 8:48 am
    • Set to catch on consecutive days
Alvarez (thumb) will be behind the plate for Triple-A Syracuse on both Friday and Saturday before DHing on Sunday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The young catcher is on track to return from a fractured left thumb early next week when the Mets return from London, but the organization will put him through his paces this weekend to make sure he's ready. Alvarez caught a combined no-hitter with High-A Brooklyn on Tuesday, and he's drawn praise from coaches for the work he's putting in during his rehab assignment. While his thumb will remain in a splint for a while yet, he should immediately slot back in as New York's starting catcher when he returns, although his backup -- whether that's Tomas Nido or Luis Torrens -- could still see a bigger workload in the short term as Alvarez gets eased back into action. • Takes another step in recovery
Santos (lat) threw a limited bullpen session before Tuesday's game against the Athletics, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: The right-hander remains without a timetable for his season debut, but Santos could be looking at a post-All-Star-break return at this point considering he'll presumably need a fairly lengthy rehab assignment. Santos was a versatile relief asset for the White Sox last season while recording two wins, six holds and five saves, and once healthy, he could eventually prove to be a viable sixth- or seventh-inning option in his new Seattle digs. • Plays catch Thursday
Mateo (concussion) played catch on the field at Rogers Centre in Toronto on Thursday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Mateo was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list Monday after his teammate, Cedric Mullins, inadvertently hit him with the bat in the back of the helmet while on the on-deck circle. It's not clear yet whether Mateo will have a chance to return when first eligible on June 10, but him being able to travel with the team and take part in some baseball activities is a good sign. • Nabs second win
Garcia (2-0) picked up the win Wednesday over the Orioles, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: The right-hander needed only 10 pitches (eight strikes) to dispatch Baltimore's 6-7-8 hitters in the ninth, and Garcia got rewarded when Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the frame. Garcia has recorded a win (one), save (one) or hold (five) in seven of 10 appearances over the last month, posting a 2.53 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB in 10.2 innings during that stretch. He'll continue to serve as the Blue Jays' primary closer until Jordan Romano (elbow) returns from the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 8:32 am
