    • Allows two homers in no-decision
Morton did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing four runs on five hits over 6.1 innings while striking out five.

Advice: Most of the damage against Morton came in the second and third innings when the veteran surrendered home runs to Eugenio Suarez and Ketel Marte. The right-hander would then cruise through the next three frames before being relieved by Pierce Johnson with one out in the seventh, though the former would end up being charged with a fourth run after departing the mound. Morton has now allowed two home runs in back-to-back starts and has given up at least three runs in four of his last six outings. However, he's also tallied five or more strikeouts in three consecutive starts. Rotowire.com Today, 5:12 am
    • Drives in three
Diaz went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Diaz opened and closed the scoring Wednesday, delivering an RBI single in the first inning and a two-run single in the sixth. This was his seventh three-hit game over his last 15 contests, a span in which he's batting .406 (26-for-64). The catcher is up to a .286/.312/.415 slash line with seven home runs, 48 RBI, 38 runs scored, 15 doubles, two triples and one stolen base over 81 games this season. Diaz isn't a high-end defensive catcher, but his place in the lineup is secure when he's swinging the bat as well as he has lately. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:26 pm

    • Charlie Morton gives up four runs in no-decision
Charlie Morton allowed four runs with five strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Advice: Three of the four runs scored against Morton came on the long ball. Eugenio Suárez took him deep for a two-run shot in the second inning. Ketel Marte followed with a solo homer in the third. Morton would toss four more scoreless innings before leaving with one out and one runner on in the seventh. The inherited runner came in to score. The 40-year-old right-hander ends the first half with a 4.07 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 97/38 K/BB ratio across 97 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:12 pm
    • Notches pair of saves Wednesday
McArthur earned a save in both games of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, pitching two total innings during which he gave up one run on three hits while striking out two batters.

Advice: McArthur gave up a Paul Goldschmidt solo homer and a Nolan Arenado single in the first game of the twin bill but managed to get through the ninth frame in 15 pitches. That left him fresh enough to be called upon again in the ninth inning of Game 2, and he finished off that contest in 19 pitches without yielding a run. McArthur thus became the first Kansas City pitcher with two saves in one day since Greg Holland in 2013. McArthur went through an over-two-week stretch between June 7 and June 23 during which he didn't record a single save (or get a single save opportunity), but since then he's registered five saves while giving up just one run over 7.2 frames. • Exits with calf soreness
Bichette was removed from Wednesday's game versus San Francisco due to right calf soreness.

Advice: The severity of Bichette's injury remains unclear, but it was apparently bothering him enough to warrant his removal from Wednesday's contest in the fourth inning. Leo Jimenez entered as Bichette's replacement at shortstop and would likely be the next man up to start should the 26-year-old's calf cause him to miss any amount of time. • Diaz totals three RBI in three-hit night vs. MIA
Yainer Diaz went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Wednesday’s win over the Marlins.

Advice: Diaz drove in the Astros’ first run of the night when an RBI single brought home Jose Altuve. The star catcher would later drive in two more runs on an RBI single in the sixth, pushing his RBI total to seven in the month of July. Diaz has been hot as of late, going 9-for-21 (.429) in his last five games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm

    • Tallies two hits in win
Hoerner went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Hoerner extended his hitting streak to six games as he tries to build some momentum heading into the All-Star break. The infielder is batting just .248 for the season, though he's hitting .333 during the recent hot streak. Hoerner batted .281 or better each of the last three seasons, which provides some optimism that a big second half is in store. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:39 pm

    • Ryan Mountcastle tallies three hits in O’s loss
Ryan Mountcastle went 3-for-5 on Wednesday in the Orioles’ shutout loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Mountcastle was the lone Orioles batter to record multiple hits during Wednesday’s shutout loss at the hands of the Cubs as they were completely stifled by lefty Shota Imanaga for six frames to open the contest before a trio of relievers came on to slam the door. Baltimore’s offense had plenty of opportunities, but went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on-base. Not great. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:20 pm
    • Yordan Alvarez exits game with right hip tightness
Yordan Alvarez was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Marlins due to right hip tightness.

Advice: No word yet on the severity of the injury. It’s also unclear when the injury occurred, though it could have been while Alvarez slid into second base while picking up his fifth stolen base of the year in the first inning, or when he slid into home as he was cut down at the plate attempting to score on a ball off the bat of Yainer Diaz. He’ll presumably head for further evaluation and the Astros should have an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:54 pm
