• Picks up win
Manaea (3-1) earned the win Sunday against Miami, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Manaea allowed three or fewer runs for his sixth straight appearance, but he did yield his second homer of the campaign when Dane Myers hit a two-run blast in the second inning. Although Manaea hasn't gone deeper than six innings this year, he owns a solid 3.11 ERA with 41 strikeouts across 46.1 innings. He's on track for a home start against the Giants next Sunday. • Impressive in return to closer role
Kimbrel pitched a clean ninth inning, striking out two to pick up a save Sunday against the Mariners.

Advice: It appears Kimbrel has found his groove again, and he was rewarded with a save opportunity while posting his fourth consecutive appearance without allowing a hit or a walk. It was the first save since May 3 for Kimbrel, who had posted a 16.20 ERA and 4.50 WHIP over 3.1 innings in the six outings prior to this most recent four-game stretch. • Cruises until fifth inning
Hudson (1-7) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Giants.

Advice: Hudson had a good start going until the fifth inning, as the Giants found success against him the third time through the order. Hudson has completed six innings just twice in nine starts, and he's failed to complete five frames in three of his last five outings. The right-hander has a poor 5.89 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 26:27 K:BB over 44.1 innings this season. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Phillies, which could be a recipe for disaster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
  • Locks down eighth save
Doval struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Doval extended his scoreless streak to 4.1 innings. He needed 17 pitches (10 strikes) Sunday, but he was able to emerge with his eighth save in as many chances this season. The closer has a 3.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB over 18 innings and has also posted a 2-0 record this season. The Giants haven't generated a ton of save opportunities, but Doval has been strong when called upon. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:04 pm
  • Pitches through illness
Hicks (4-1) allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out one over five innings to earn the win Sunday over the Rockies.

Advice: Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports Hicks threw up his pregame meal. The right-hander also experienced diminished velocity -- all of his pitches were down between 2.4 and 3.6 mph from his season averages in Sunday's start, so it's obvious he wasn't at full strength. He still landed 49 of 72 pitches for strikes and gave up just a first-inning home run to Ryan McMahon, while the Giants' bullpen picked him up with four hitless innings. Hicks has gone past five innings in just three of his 10 starts this year, but he's done well with a 2.38 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB over 53 innings. It's not odd that the Giants may be managing his innings carefully since he's never exceeded 77.2 innings in a major-league campaign. There's no reason to worry about Hicks missing his next projected start -- on the road versus the Mets -- at this time. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:01 pm
  • Road struggles continue
Kirby (4-4) suffered the loss Sunday against the Orioles, allowing five runs on nine hits over six innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Kirby was tagged for a solo homer by Gunnar Henderson to lead off the game and eventually allowed five runs and two homers through three innings before settling down and making it through six frames with no additional damage. It was the first time in seven starts Kirby has allowed more than five hits, while the five earned runs lifted Kirby's ERA to 3.99 over 56.1 innings and 5.19 over 26 innings on the road. Kirby's next start is also slated to take place on the road, though in a much friendlier matchup, as he's tentatively lined up to take on the Nationals in Washington next weekend. • Doval locks down eighth save in win over Rockies
Camilo Doval threw a scoreless ninth inning to close out a 4-1 win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Advice: Camilo Doval didn’t allow a hit or a walk while striking out one to earn his eighth save of the season. The right-hander has a 3.00 ERA on the season with 24 strikeouts in 18 innings. He has yet to blow a save on the season, and if the Giants lineup can get healthy and start putting up some runs, he could earn some more saves in the months ahead. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:50 pm
  • Dakota Hudson fades in 5th vs Giants
Dakota Hudson allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits in 4 2/3 in a loss to the Giants on Sunday.

Advice: Hudson had allowed no runs on two hits through his first four innings and then bad luck struck in the fifth. After walking the lead-off hitter, he allowed two infield singles, a fielder’s choice, and an error, which scored three runs and chased him from the game. He didn’t miss many bats with a 14 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW and remains a low-upside fantasy option that you should not start at home against the Phillies next week. • Jordan Hicks’ velocity is way down in win
Jordan Hicks allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Advice: The big news here is that Hicks averaged just 91.7 mph on his sinker after averaging 95.3 mph on the year. In fact, he was down 2.5 mph or more on every single one of his pitches in this start, which is part of the reason why he struck out just one batter. Of course, because he was facing the Rockies, he wasn’t saddled with that much damage. It will be interesting to hear what the Giants have to say about the performance or if it was just an off night for the oft-injured right-hander. Provided he’s healthy, he would have another good start lined up against the Mets next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm
