    • J.D. Martinez gets on four times in blowout win
J.D. Martinez went 3-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI in a victory Thursday over the Nationals.

Advice: Martinez also drew a walk for a four-reach day without getting out. The 36-year-old designated hitter doubled for the 15th time in the first half of the campaign, while his RBI is the 36th of 2024. Martinez has dealt with some injuries, but he has also shown there’s plenty of life left in his bat when he’s capable of going. Rotoworld Today, 1:12 pm

    • Dealing with calf strain
Bichette, who is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants, was diagnosed with a fascia strain in his right calf, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old suffered the injury during Wednesday's contest and is currently considered day-to-day. Bichette dealt with a strain in the same calf last month that resulted in a short stay on the injured list, though it's unclear if an IL move will be necessary this time around. The Blue Jays could add a player to the taxi squad in order to provide some potential depth at shortstop for the immediate future. Rotowire.com Today, 12:06 pm

    • Bo Bichette not in the lineup on Thursday
Bo Bichette (calf) is not in the Blue Jays lineup on Thursday.

Advice: Bichette left Wednesday’s game after tweaking his calf while fielding a pick-off attempt in the second inning. “First step kind of caught him a little bit,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider. “He wanted to stay in. He’s a gamer. I just...I didn’t want to take a chance.” It seems that the Blue Jays will not take a chance on Thursday either, but there doesn’t to be much concern about a lengthy absence even though Bichette was on the IL with a right calf strain from June 15-24. Leo Jimenez will start in his place and bat ninth on Thursday. Rotoworld Today, 11:10 am

    • Sitting out Thursday
Bichette (calf) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Bichette made an early exit from Wednesday's 10-6 win after experiencing soreness in his right calf while he was playing the field during a pickoff attempt. Though the Blue Jays appear to be viewing Bichette as day-to-day for now, he spent time on the injured list in June with a strain of the same calf. Leo Jimenez will fill in for Bichette at shortstop Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:45 am

    • Stays busy on basepaths
Ohtani went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: The 30-year-old superstar has swiped six bags in his last six games, pushing him up to 22 steals on the season -- just four shy of his career high. Ohtani has been doing plenty of damage with his bat as well, and since June 16 he's slashing .359/.480/.859 in 98 plate appearances with 11 homers, 21 runs and 22 RBI. • Inefficient again Wednesday
Stroman came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Rays, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: The Yankees staked Stroman to a 2-0 lead through four innings, but the veteran right-hander couldn't hang around long enough to record the win. Instead, he got the hook after 84 pitches (49 strikes), leaving the mound with the bases loaded and needing the New York bullpen to bail him out. Stroman has completed six innings only once in his last seven outings, delivering a shaky 5.30 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 23:18 K:BB through 35.2 innings over that stretch. He'll now get an extended rest as he isn't scheduled to make another start before the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 5:52 am
    • Slugs another homer
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-4 loss to the Royals in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Goldschmidt also went 1-for-4 in the nightcap, but he struck out a total of four times across the twin bill. The first baseman is up to 13 homers this year, with four of them coming over his last 17 contests. He's at a .229/.292/.374 slash line, 36 RBI, 46 runs scored, six stolen bases and 13 doubles through 390 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:46 pm
    • Shines in win
Valdez (8-5) allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out 10 over seven innings to earn the win over the Marlins on Wednesday.

Advice: This is the seventh time this season Valdez has gone at least seven innings, and he's allowed more than one run in just one of those outings. The southpaw has earned quality starts in four of his last five games, allowing 13 runs (10 earned) over 30.2 innings in that span. For the season, he's at a 3.66 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 82:32 K:BB across 98.1 innings through 16 starts. He's been giving up a lot of hits this season, but he's done a decent job at damage control and could have a strong second half if he can keep traffic off the bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:17 pm
    • Exits with calf soreness
Bichette was removed from Wednesday's game versus San Francisco due to right calf soreness.

Advice: The severity of Bichette's injury remains unclear, but it was apparently bothering him enough to warrant his removal from Wednesday's contest in the fourth inning. Leo Jimenez entered as Bichette's replacement at shortstop and would likely be the next man up to start should the 26-year-old's calf cause him to miss any amount of time.
