    • Spencer Horwitz goes deep in victory over Giants
Spencer Horwitz went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Thursday, propelling the Blue Jays to a 5-3 victory over the Giants.

Advice: Horwitz is one of a handful of youngsters on the verge of a prominent role moving forward if Toronto decides to offload some of it’s veteran talent over the next few weeks prior to the trade deadline. The 26-year-old prospect has shown some real promise over the last few weeks, batting .322 (29-for-90) with four homers and 10 RBI through 29 games this season in the big leagues. He’s definitely worthy of a roster spot for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

    • Twirls seven no-hit innings
Skenes (6-0) picked up the win Thursday against Milwaukee, allowing no hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch with 11 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: Skenes' excellent rookie season got even better Tuesday, as he tied his career high in strikeouts and logged his second hitless start. He finished the outing by retiring 16 consecutive batters and allowed a baserunner in only the second inning. The 22-year-old is undefeated through 11 appearances and has generated a quality start in nine of his last 10 outings. Skenes will enter the All-Star break with a 1.91 ERA and 89 strikeouts across 66.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 2:06 pm

    • Paul Skenes fans 11 over seven no-hit innings
Paul Skenes didn’t allow a hit over seven innings while striking out 11 against the Brewers on Thursday to get a win in a 1-0 victory for the Pirates.

Advice: Spectacular. Skenes was pulled despite allowing just a walk over his seven innings after throwing 99 pitches — 65 of them for strikes. Colin Holderman immediately allowed a hit after Skenes left the outing to prevent the combined no-no. It would be almost impossible to overstate how impressive the 22-year-old has been since being promoted to Pittsburgh, and a 1.90 ERA and 89/12 K/BB over 11 starts will do the talking for us. Skenes very well could start the All-Star game on Tuesday, and you’d have to hate the city of Pittsburgh very much to suggest he’s undeserving of such an honor. Rotoworld Today, 1:34 pm

    • Getting afternoon off
Chourio is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Blake Perkins will pick up a start in the outfield while Chourio heads to the bench after he had been included in the lineup in each of the previous six games. The 20-year-old rookie has been one of the hotter hitters in the Milwaukee lineup of late, slashing .340/.397/.547 with seven extra-base hits (two home runs, five doubles) and two stolen bases over his last 15 games. • Getting afternoon off
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Alvarez will receive a breather for Thursday's matinee contest after he had started each of the previous four days, with three coming at catcher and one at designated hitter. Luis Torrens will fill in behind the dish Thursday in place of Alvarez, who is slashing .300/.382/.433 thus far in July. Rotowire.com Today, 8:14 am
    • Brooks Lee homers in comeback win over White Sox
Brooks Lee walloped a solo homer to power the Twins to a 3-2 victory over the White Sox in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: Lee’s sixth-inning homer off White Sox rookie Drew Thorpe, which barely cleared the right-field wall, was his second round-tripper in eight games since being called up last week from Triple-A St. Paul. It was his lone hit in five at-bats, but it wound up putting Minnesota on the board and jump-starting an eventual comeback victory. The 23-year-old top prospect is batting .364 (12-for-33) with two homers and nine RBI through eight games so far. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats at this juncture. • Completes clean inning
Bednar (oblique) didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one in a scoreless inning of work in a rehab appearance Tuesday with Double-A Altoona.

Advice: Bednar was originally scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Indianapolis, but weather concerns shifted his appearance to Altoona. Regardless, it was a positive outing and he is presumably nearing a return to the big-league mound. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:06 am

    • Not in lineup for first game
Buxton is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Advice: Buxton had been slated to sit out Tuesday before the game got rained out, and he'll remain out of the lineup for the makeup game. Manuel Margot will start in center field for the first contest, but Buxton should be back in the lineup for the second game. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:03 am

    • Swiping bags efficiently
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and a stolen base Tuesday against the Yankees.

Advice: Arozarena has struggled significantly for long stretches this season and has a .202 average and a .674 OPS across 359 plate appearances. Since June 1, however, he's hit .286 with an .868 OPS in 32 games. Arozarena's ability to get on base has also translated to more stolen bases, as he's swiped five bags in six tries in his last 17 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:53 am
