    • Willi Castro garners first All-Star Game selection
Willi Castro has been added to the American League All-Star roster.

Advice: It’s the first All-Star Game selection for Castro, who has been added to the junior circuit’s roster as an injury replacement for Jose Altuve, who is skipping the game due to a left hand ailment. It’ll be Marcus Semien taking over at the keystone to start next week’s Midsummer Classic. Rotoworld Today, 2:25 pm

    • Garrett Crochet starting Friday against the Pirates
Garrett Crochet will start on Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: It figures to be an abbreviated outing for Crochet in his first-half finale as it’ll set him up to potentially start next week’s All-Star Game for the American League. The 25-year-old southpaw has been at the epicenter of trade rumors recently and figures to be on the move by the trade deadline. The White Sox undoubtedly want to showcase him at the Midsummer Classic, so this outing might be a short one. Rotoworld Today, 2:13 pm

    • Brandon Nimmo drives in three versus Nationals
Brandon Nimmo drove in three runs in a blowout win Thursday over the Nationals.

Advice: With the score tied at 0-0, Nimmo opened the floodgates with a three-run double off MacKenzie Gore to make it 3-0, and that was all the offense the Mets would need. They scored four more runs, anyway, but still true. Nimmo is already up to 62 RBI on the season, and is enjoying a solid first half of 2024 with a line of .252/.365/.466. Rotoworld Today, 1:05 pm
    • MacKenzie Gore can’t get out of fifth vs. Mets
MacKenzie Gore gave up four runs in 4 2/3 innings of work in a loss to the Mets on Thursday.

Advice: Gore was going to have to be at his best to match David Peterson, but he wasn’t close to it. The southpaw issues three walks and threw just 59-of-95 pitches for strikes before exiting in the fifth. The 25-year-old has scuffled over his last two outings to see an ERA of 3.47 jump up to 4.01. There was more good than bad from Gore in the first half, but there’s still work to be done before he’s ready to be a frontline hurler. Rotoworld Today, 1:04 pm

    • Falls to Philly
Stone (9-3) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings as the Dodgers were downed 4-3 by the Phillies. He struck out three.

Advice: Kyle Schwarber drove Stone's third pitch of the game over the fence in left field, and the right-hander never seemed to regain his focus, leaving the mound after 77 pitches (52 strikes). Since firing a shutout against the White Sox on June 26, Stone has been tagged for eight runs over 7.2 innings in his last two outings. Despite the stumbles, he sports a 3.26 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 76:28 K:BB through 96.2 innings on the year. He'll get a chance to regroup, as he's not scheduled to make another start until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 6:17 am

    • Nabs 12th save
Sewald pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save over Atlanta on Wednesday.

Advice: Sewald entered the contest with a two-run lead in the ninth and needed only eight pitches to retire the side for his 12th save of the campaign. It was a nice bounce-back effort for the closer, who had allowed multiple runs and blown a save in his previous three outings. It was also Sewald's third appearance in which he didn't allow any hits or walks over his last six. Rotowire.com Today, 5:17 am
    • Homers again Wednesday
Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-2 victory versus the Nationals on Wednesday.

Advice: Nimmo got New York off to a strong start with a 440-foot solo blast in the first inning. It was his third straight game with a long ball and his fourth straight contest with at least one RBI. Nimmo logged career-best marks with 24 homers and 68 RBI last season, and he is on pace to surpass both totals in 2024 with 16 home runs and 59 RBI through 380 plate appearances. • Paul Sewald ends skid with 12th save vs. Braves
Paul Sewald tossed a clean ninth inning to convert the save against the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: Sewald came into this one having blown his last three save chances. Manager Torey Lovullo expressed his confidence in the veteran closer and went back to him with a two-run lead in the ninth on Wednesday. Sewald shut the door on Atlanta with a clean frame for his 12th save. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:16 pm
    • Nimmo takes Corbin deep for 16th homer of season
Brandon Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a home run in Wednesday’s win over the Nationals.

Advice: It didn’t take long for the Mets to get to Nats’ starter Patrick Corbin, as Nimmo blasted a solo shot with one out in the first to immediately get the Mets out to a 1-0 lead. It was the 16th homer of the season for Nimmo, who has now homered in three-straight games and carries a five-game hitting streak into Thursday’s finale for the three-game series.
