      Advice: A Ke'Bryan Hayes homer in the seventh inning was the lone mark against Lodolo on Tuesday as he earned his fifth straight win -- the left-hander hasn't allowed more than two runs in a start during that span. Overall, Lodolo's ERA is down to 2.76 on the year with a 1.01 WHIP and 70:15 K:BB across 65.1 innings.       Severino did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 7-6 win over Texas, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out one.

      Advice: After yielding just one run through four innings, the New York right-hander unraveled in the fifth, allowing five runs on five hits, including two homers. Severino also produced only five whiffs on his way to collecting a season-worst one strikeout. The 30-year-old's velocity on his entire arsenal was down in this outing, anchored by a sinker that averaged 94.5 mph, down 1.2 mph.       Luis Severino was tagged for six runs in 6 1/3 innings by the Rangers on Tuesday.

      Advice: Severino struck out one and gave up two homers, which is never a good ratio. His velocity was down a bit tonight, and he wound up with just five missed swings and a 17% CSW. As much twitter concern as there was about Severino after his season debut 2 1/2 months ago, this is probably his most discouraging outing of the season to date.       Framber Valdez pitched six innings of two-run ball Tuesday in a loss to the White Sox.

      Advice: Valdez allowed just two hits, but he walked five batters, which fueled the rallies in the third and fifth innings.       Advice: The Houston southpaw toiled against a weak White Sox team that entered the evening collectively batting .220 with a 7.1 percent walk rate -- both qualifying as the second-worst marks in the majors. The five walks Valdez issued were the most since his first start this season against the Yankees on March 28, when he issued six free passes. The 30-year-old now sports a 3.91 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 56:24 K:BB over 73.2 innings. Valdez faces a difficult test in his next scheduled outing, slated to come against Baltimore at home this weekend.       Nick Lodolo allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Pirates on Tuesday.

      Advice: The left-hander struck out eight and didn’t walk a single batter on the day. He got 18 whiffs on 50 swings for a 36 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW on the day. He did a good job keeping his fastball upstairs and the curve low in the zone, which led to a 57 percent whiff rate on the curve alone. Lodolo has always showcased high upside but injuries have gotten in his way; yet, he now has a 2.76 ERA on the year with a good start against these same Pirates next week.       Mike Clevinger (elbow) is making a rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

    • Hurls quality start Monday
      Garrett struck out six and allowed one run on five hits and no walks over six innings in a no-decision during Monday's extra-innings loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: Garrett served up a solo homer to Mike Siani in the fifth inning that turned out to be his only mistake in an otherwise stellar showing. The left-hander didn't issue a walk, making it the fourth time in his seven starts this season that he didn't allow a free pass. The 26-year-old has been inconsistent, as he has allowed four or more earned runs in four of his starts but has given up just two total runs in his other three appearances.       Hicks allowed four hits and four walks while striking out four batters over five scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Monday.

      Advice: Hicks recently battled an illness but was able to take his regular turn in the rotation Monday. He threw only 48 of 87 pitches for strikes and tied a season high in issuing four free passes, but he was able to work around constant traffic on the basepaths to finish with five scoreless frames. It was the first time Hicks has held an opponent scoreless since his season debut against San Diego on March 30, though he's been quite reliable in yielding three or fewer earned runs in all but one of his 15 outings.
