    • Framber Valdez turns in quality start in loss
Framber Valdez surrendered three runs in six innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Mariners.

Advice: All of the runs scored in the first, an inning that could have been much worse if Jake Meyers didn’t cover half of the outfield to chase down a Cal Raleigh fly with the bases loaded. Valdez still gave up four hits that inning, but he allowed just two more the rest of the way. Nevertheless, he still took the loss in a 3-2 game, leaving him 3-3 with a 4.34 ERA for the season. A home start against the Twins is up next. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago
    • Strong in return
Lodolo (4-2) allowed a run on five hits over 5.1 innings Monday, striking out three and earning a win over St. Louis.

Advice: Aside from Paul Goldschmidt's first-inning solo shot, Lodolo kept the Cardinals quiet while cruising to a victory. It was Lodolo's first start since May 11 after a trip to the injured list due to a groin issue. Before that IL stint, he lost two straight starts while coughing up eight total runs through 11 innings. Lodolo now owns a 3.12 ERA with a 46:9 K:BB through seven starts. His next outing is lined up to be on the road against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Today, 7:32 pm
    • Suarez picks up 16th save against Marlins Monday
Robert Suarez tossed a scoreless inning and picked up the save against the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: The save was Suarez’ 16th of the season. He lowered his ERA to 0.73 on the season. While the Padres’ closer situation was ambiguous going into the season, Suarez has grabbed the job and run with it to the point where he’s been one of the best closers in all of fantasy this season. • Nick Lodolo earns win in return from IL
Nick Lodolo limited the Cardinals to one run in 5 1/3 innings in the Reds’ 3-1 victory Monday.

Advice: Lodolo walked none and struck out three in an 81-pitch outing in his return from the injured list. It’s hard to say whether his body is going to hold up, but he’s a fine mixed-league SP while healthy. Rotoworld Today, 6:00 pm
    • Fans seven in quality start
Gasser did not factor into the decision Monday against the Cubs, allowing three hits and no walks over six shutout innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Gasser dominated the Cubs, pounding them with a sound five-pitch mix to collect his second career quality start. The 24-year-old rookie has impressed in 23 innings so far, producing a 1.96 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB. Things have been excellent under the hood too, as he owns a 2.52 FIP and 47.3 percent groundball rate. Gasser is tentatively set to make his next scheduled start against the White Sox at home. • Abrams hits ninth home run Monday
CJ Abrams went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly against the Braves on Monday.

Advice: The Nationals scored four runs in the first inning and Abrams’ solo shot in the second inning made the score 5-0. He hit 18 home runs in 151 games last year and is halfway to that mark in only 49 games so far this season. Fantasy managers didn’t draft Abrams for his power, though. While he stole 47 bases last year, he has just eight steals so far this year.

    • Gasser strikes out seven in no-decision Monday
Robert Gasser threw six shutout innings and got the no-decision in the Brewers’ 5-1 victory over the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Gasser left the game in the seventh inning with two on and nobody. Reliever Bryan Hudson escaped the jam without any runs being charged to Gasser, who allowed only three hits and struck out seven. He lowered his ERA to 1.96 in four starts. Gasser has a SO:BB of 13:1 and 47 percent ground ball percentage. He’s certainly a promising rookie, though he’s probably due to give up some runs eventually as his xFIP is 3.99. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the White Sox at home this weekend.

    • Lars Nootbaar day-to-day with hamstring issue
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said Lars Nootbaar is “day-to-day” with a hamstring strain.

Advice: Marmol said that the team believed that keeping Nootbaar out of the lineup on Sunday and Monday is “the smart thing to do,” but they “don’t see it lingering.” That provides some optimism that Nootbaar could make it back in the middle of this week; however, hamstring injuries are known to linger so fantasy managers in weekly lineup lock leagues could decide to play it safe and sit Nootbaar this week. • Remains out Monday
Nootbaar (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game in Cincinnati.

Advice: Nootbaar was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup due to a hamstring issue. With tough left-hander Nick Lodolo on the mound for the Reds on Monday, it makes sense to hold Nootbaar out again. Cincinnati does another another southpaw scheduled to start Tuesday in Andrew Abbott, so it's possible Nootbaar could remain out until Wednesday. For what it's worth, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Monday of Nootbaar's injury that "we don't see it lingering," per John Denton of MLB.com. Dylan Carlson will be in right field Monday.
