    • Nearly perfect in rehab outing
Rodriguez (back) threw three shutout, no-hit innings for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, walking one and striking out four.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander looked just about ready to rejoin the big-league staff, firing 29 of 43 pitches for strikes, and per MLB.com he threw another 15 pitches in the bullpen afterward to get stretched out a little more. That extra work suggests Rodriguez will be a candidate to move back into the rotation once he's activated, but the Blue Jays have yet to determine if he'll need one more rehab start before coming off the IL. • Stuck with loss
Sears (4-5) took the loss Thursday against Seattle, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Sears turned in his fifth quality start of the season Thursday and tied his season high in strikeouts. However, the A's offense mustered up just two hits and didn't score, leaving the left-hander in the loss column for the third time in his last four appearances. While Sears missed plenty of bats, he located just 60 of his 101 pitches in the strike zone and hit a pair of batters. Overall, Sears owns a 3.93 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 73.1 innings this season. He's scheduled to face the Padres in San Diego on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 6:36 am

    • Homers in loss
Abrams went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to Atlanta.

Advice: Abrams broke a scoreless tie in the sixth frame with his leadoff homer against Atlanta starter Reynaldo Lopez. The shortstop came into the contest having gone 1-for-21 over his previous seven games and recently missed time due to a shoulder issue, so the long ball was a much-needed positive development. Abrams reached 10 homers on the campaign with Thursday's blast, but he's slashing a meager .246/.293/.456 through 247 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:38 pm

    • Blasts 18th homer
Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run in a 5-2 win against Washington on Thursday.

Advice: Ozuna gave Atlanta some breathing room with his two-run, eighth-inning blast that extended his team's lead from one run to three. It was the slugger's 18th long ball of the campaign, moving him into fourth place in the majors. Ozuna also ranks second with 55 RBI while slashing an excellent .312/.389/.611 through 252 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:29 pm

    • Excellent in no-decision
Parker allowed two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out two batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Atlanta on Thursday.

Advice: Parker allowed just one hit through six scoreless frames before Atlanta got to him for a pair of runs on a single and a homer in the seventh. The rookie left-hander still managed to close out that frame to tie his longest outing of the season, but he had to settle for a no-decision. Parker has been remarkably consistent as a major-league pitcher thus far, allowing three or fewer runs in all 10 of his starts. He holds a 3.47 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 45:12 K:BB through 57 frames on the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:25 pm
    • Manny Machado grounds out as pinch-hitter
After being held out of the starting lineup due to a hip flexor, Manny Machado grounded out as a pinch-hitter Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The Padres said after the game that Machado would have been run for if he hadn’t gotten on base and that it’s unlikely that he’ll start Friday, even at DH. Tyler Wade played third base tonight and probably will do the same Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:11 pm

    • Appears as pinch hitter
Machado (hip) entered Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks as a pinch hitter and grounded out to the pitcher, AJ Cassavell of MLB.comreports.

Advice: Machado was held out of Thursday's lineup after suffering a hip flexor strain Wednesday. He is considered day-to-day and was expected to be unavailable Thursday. The fact that he was able to pinch hit is a positive sign, though it's still unclear when he'll be able to rejoin the lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:35 pm

    • Evan Phillips allows three runs in non-save spot
Evan Phillips was charged with three runs in the eighth inning on Thursday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

Advice: Phillips got the call for his first appearance in nearly a week with the Dodgers leading by seven runs at the time and wound up surrendering four hits, including a three-run homer to Oneil Cruz. Fortunately, his struggles didn’t end up impacting the final result of the contest, but it certainly doesn’t do fantasy managers any favors in the ratio departments. • Abrams blasts 10th home run Thursday
CJ Abrams went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Braves on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was Abrams’ 10th of the season. He had slumped and missed time with shoulder soreness last week, but seemed unbothered on Thursday. Abrams continues to show more power than he did last year as his .211 ISO is a lot better than the .167 ISO he had last year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:13 pm
