      Lane Thomas smacked a two-run double, drew a pair of walks and scored a run on Wednesday as the Nationals fell to the Padres in San Diego.

      Advice: Thomas finally broke through and got the Nationals on the board with a two-run double off of Tom Cosgrove in the ninth inning. He scored later in the frame on a two-run double by Luis Garcia, but the five-run rally in the ninth still fell short. The 28-year-old outfielder was also cut down attempting to steal second base in the ballgame.       White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Wednesday that Clevinger (elbow) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.comreports.

      Advice: The veteran right-hander threw 71 pitchers over 4.2 innings during his third rehab outing Sunday, and he'll continue building up his workload at Triple-A.       Brady Singer allowed one run over 7 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

      Advice: Singer surrendered a run-scoring single to Nick Fortes in the second inning, which represented the lone tally against him in this one. Unfortunately, Kansas City’s offense didn’t respond with any run support until after his exit from the contest when they put up five runs in the eighth inning. The 27-year-old righty finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk in his longest outing of the year so far.       Advice: Semien started off well enough in April, but he’s been treading water for about two months now, and particularly unfortunate for fantasy leaguers is that he’s attempted just four steals this season, converting three of them.     • Another rehab start Thursday
      Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that Kremer (tricep) will make another rehab start Thursday at Triple-A Norfolk, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

      Advice: Kremer struggled in his second rehab outing this past Saturday with Norfolk, allowing five runs while recording just two outs. He got his pitch count to 59 in his first rehab start but was pulled from the second outing after throwing just 39 pitches due to a stressful first inning. It's possible Kremer will be ready to return from the 15-day injured list next week, though that decision depends on how he looks Thursday and how much he can get stretched out.       Bryson Stott doubled, walked, stole a base and scored three runs on Wednesday afternoon as the Phillies triumphed over the Tigers.

      Advice: Stott started the fourth inning by working Keider Montero for a walk and then rode home on Brandon Marsh’s two-run blast. He then doubled the following inning and scored on a two-run single off the bat of Marsh. Stott also reached on a fielder’s choice in the eighth, swiped second base and scored on a sacrifice fly by David Dahl.       Brewers general manager Matt Arnold confirmed Wednesday that Gasser (elbow) underwent a traditional Tommy John surgery Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

      Advice: As expected, Gasser wasn't a candidate for an internal brace procedure, which would have shortened his timetable.
