Civale (2-6) was tagged with the loss against Washington on Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Civale threw only 58 of 102 pitches for strikes and handed out four free passes, but he managed to mostly weave out of trouble and finished one out shy of a quality start. Nonetheless, he ended up in the loss column since the Rays' offense gave him only one run of support. Civale has gone 14 straight outings without a victory, and he hasn't pitched well overall with a 5.79 ERA over that span. Framber Valdez allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Astros’ 9-6 victory over the Mets on Saturday.



Advice: Valdez gave up 10 hits, walked three and struck out five. He allowed at least five runs for the second time in his last four starts. Valdez’ ERA is 4.11 on the year, though there is some hope for him to bounce back given his 3.55 xFIP. The 30-year-old left-hander is set to face the Blue Jays on the road next week.

Snell (groin) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and is expected to rejoin the Giants rotation after their road trip that ends July 7, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Snell threw three innings in a start with Sacramento on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts. The 31-year-old will require one more rehab appearance before being reinstated and is on track to make a start with San Francisco prior to the All-Star break. Advice: Brown was cleared to resume throwing last week, and Saturday will mark his first time working off a mound since he landed on the injured list June 11 with a left neck strain. Advice: Brown has resumed throwing just a couple weeks after landing on the shelf with a neck strain. The 24-year-old righty appeared to be putting it all together this season with a pristine 3.58 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 64/19 K/BB ratio across 55 1/3 innings (15 appearances, eight starts) before hitting the injured list.
