    • George Springer homers in victory over White Sox
George Springer went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer on Monday, leading the Blue Jays to a 5-1 victory over the White Sox.

Advice: Springer set the tone early for Toronto with a second-inning blast off White Sox rookie Nick Nastrini. It was just his fourth round-tripper of the season and first time he’s gone deep since April 24. It’s been a down season offensively for the 34-year-old veteran as he holds a lackluster .570 OPS through 47 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:56 pm
    • Expected to hit on field Monday
Hoskins (hamstring) plans to advance to hitting on the field Monday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Hoskins will clear a significant hurdle in his recovery from a right hamstring strain, as Monday's activity will mark his first time hitting on the field since he landed on the injured list. While there is still no set timetable for his return to action, it sounds like Hoskins isn't too far off from a rehab assignment. "I feel as good as I can," Hoskins said. • Could return this week
Reds manager David Bell said Monday that Friedl (thumb) could return as soon as late this week or early next week, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Just six games into his return from a fractured right wrist, Friedl suffered a broken left thumb as a result of a hit-by-pitch. Fortunately for Friedl and the Reds, it doesn't sound like he will have to miss nearly as much action this time around. Bell has already said he thinks Friedl could bypass a rehab assignment. • Logs steal in Sunday's win
Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a hit-by-pitch one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Gimenez had a couple of hitless games last week, but he went 5-for-15 with five RBI and was plunked three times over the last four games. The second baseman is up to eight steals on 11 attempts this season, with Sunday's steal being his first since May 17. He's added a .270/.333/.383 slash line with four home runs, 32 RBI and 31 runs scored over 50 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:13 am

    • Ronald Acuña Jr. (knee) placed on 10-day IL
Braves placed OF Ronald Acuña Jr. on the 10-day injured list with a torn left ACL.

Advice: Acuña Jr. was diagnosed with a torn ACL last night and will be out for the season. It’s a brutal blow for the Braves and Acuña Jr., who has now torn the ACL in both of his knees. The Braves called up J.P. Martinez to take Acuña Jr.'s spot in on the active roster, but Adam Duvall will likely see an uptick in playing time until the Braves maybe make a move for an outfielder. • Down in seven spot Monday
Springer will start in right field and bat seventh in Monday's game versus the White Sox.

Advice: It's the lowest spot in the batting order Springer has ever occupied during his 11-year major-league career. Springer is slashing just .145/.203/.177 so far in May and is 1-for-17 at the dish over his last five contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:02 am
    • Officially placed on injured list
Atlanta placed Acuna (knee) on the 10-day injured list Monday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Acuna suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Sunday's 8-1 win in Pittsburgh and will undergo season-ending surgery in the coming days. He missed the second half of the 2021 season due to a torn ACL in his other knee and is now slated for another lengthy absence. Jarred Kelenic and Adam Duvall will likely be in line for additional at-bats in the corner outfield with Acuna out, though Atlanta could seek help from outside the organization. • Drives in two in win
Lowe went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's 6-2 win over Minnesota.

Advice: Lowe had a pair of run-producing singles, his first multi-hit game since May 8. The first baseman entered Sunday with just six hits over the last 49 at-bats (.122). That slump prompted manager Bruce Bochy to drop Lowe to sixth in order against right-handers this past week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:21 am

    • May not need rehab
Friedl (thumb) has started hitting off a tee and may not require a rehab assignment, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Apparently, Friedl is progressing at such a rate that manager David Bell feels he can avoid any detours and jump back into the majors. The outfielder, who missed the first six weeks of the season with a wrist injury, made just 24 plate appearances before suffering a fractured left thumb. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:37 am
