    • IL move made official
The Cubs placed Wick on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right oblique strain, Taylor McGregor reports.

Advice: Wicks had to be pulled from Friday's start against the Cardinals in the second inning due to the injury. It's not clear what grade the strain is, so it's difficult to project a return date. Typically, though, even low-grade oblique strains result in longer than a minimum stay on the IL. Kyle Hendricks will slide into Wicks' rotation spot. Rotowire.com Today, 10:31 am

    • Cubs put Jordan Wicks (oblique) on 15-day IL
Cubs placed LHP Jordan Wicks on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain.

Advice: Wicks suffered the injury during Friday’s start against the Cardinals and is likely to wind up missing at least a couple weeks, even in a best-case scenario. It’ll probably be Kyle Hendricks taking his spot in Chicago’s starting rotation since they don’t really have a ton of alternatives at the moment. Rotoworld Today, 10:27 am

    • Day off Saturday
Marte is not in the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Padres.

Advice: Marte was in the lineup for each of the previous four tilts, but he will receive a day of rest Saturday. DJ Stewart is handling right field for the Mets in this one. Rotowire.com Today, 10:04 am

    • Working behind opener Saturday
Henry is expected to work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Scott McGough in Saturday's game against the White Sox, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: After being called up from Triple-A Reno last Sunday, Henry worked behind McGough and picked up a win against the Padres, despite giving up two earned runs over three hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. Henry hasn't been used since that relief outing, so he should be able to give Arizona plenty of length once McGough exits Saturday's contest. Rotowire.com Today, 9:41 am

    • Quality start against O's
Suarez came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Orioles, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The southpaw delivered his ninth quality start of the season on 88 pitches (57 strikes), but Suarez was denied his 11th win in a wild affair that saw half the game's runs cross the plate after the ninth inning. Since his nine-start win streak ended in late May, the 28-year-old has posted a 3.10 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 20.1 innings over four outings. Suarez's next scheduled trip to the mound is a home tilt next week against the Padres. Rotowire.com Today, 6:55 am
    • Yields four runs
Woods Richardson allowed four runs on four hits and four walks over four innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out four during the win over Oakland.

Advice: Woods Richardson was the victim of a Shea Langeliers grand slam in the first inning but otherwise kept the Athletics off the board. However, Woods Richardson threw just 45 of 80 pitches for strikes as he struggled with his command. It was the first time this season he walked more than two batters and it was his second-shortest outing. Woods Richardson's ERA is up to 3.29 with a 46:15 K:BB through 54.2 frames. His next start is lined up to be at home against the Rays. Rotowire.com Today, 4:45 am
    • Slugs seventh homer
Ramos went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and two walks in Friday's 8-6 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Ramos collected his seventh multi-hit effort in 12 games in June. He's also posted five homers, 14 RBI and an 8:15 BB:K over that span. Ramos is up to a .314/.400/.529 slash line with seven long balls, 27 RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base over 140 plate appearances this season. He initially worked in the corner outfield spots, but the 24-year-old has started the last seven games in center field as he continues to solidify his place in the majors. • Heliot Ramos hits three-run homer in loss to LAA
Heliot Ramos hit a three-run homer and reached four times in a loss to the Angels on Friday.

Advice: In addition to the three-run homer, Ramos also singled and drew a pair of walks. The 24-year-old has been outstanding in 2024 after struggling in his limited MLB chances in the past, and the four-reach game has him slashing .314/.400/.529 in 121 at-bats. It’s time to take Ramos seriously, if you needed any convincing. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:17 pm

    • Fans eight in win
Nelson (4-5) earned the win Friday against the White Sox, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Nelson collected his third quality start of the season as he generated 13 whiffs en route to a season-high eight punchouts. The Arizona righty was especially sharp in this 95-pitch outing, as his entire pitch arsenal displayed increased velocity, led by a slider that was 2.1 mph faster than average. With this one-run performance, Nelson lowered his season ERA to 5.49. He is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Nationals on the road. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:28 pm
