    • Zack Wheeler shuts down Giants in no-decision
Zack Wheeler blanked the Giants for six innings, allowing just two hits, in a no-decision Tuesday.

Advice: Wheeler wasn’t at his most efficient tonight, but that didn’t really matter, since the Phillies went 10 innings without scoring. It’s Wheeler’s ninth quality start in 12 tries, and he lowered his ERA to 2.32. Still, the Phillies bizarrely are only 6-6 when he pitches, compared to 32-12 the rest of the time. • Julio Rodríguez comes through in eighth in victory
Julio Rodríguez went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead single in the bottom of the eighth as the Mariners bested the Astros 4-2 on Tuesday.

Advice: Rodriguez delivered after Josh Rojas tied the game with an RBI single off Ryan Pressly. Those two combined for four of the Mariners’ seven hits and all three of the team’s runs batted in tonight (the other run also came on Rodríguez’s eighth-inning hit, but it was the result of an error). Rodríguez is 8-for-17 with two homers and seven RBI in his last four games, raising his OPS from .606 to .657. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:01 pm

    • Triston McKenzie strikes out nine in no-decision
Triston McKenzie fanned a season-high nine while allowing four runs over five innings Tuesday against the Rockies.

Advice: McKenzie left with a three-run lead, but he was denied a win after that was blown in the sixth. The no-decision left him 0-1 in his last seven starts, even though the Guardians have gone 6-1 in those games. But let’s just keep pretending win-loss records matters in 2024. • Allows four runs at Colorado
McKenzie gave up four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out nine over five innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: Kris Bryant and Elehuris Montero each tagged McKenzie for a two-run home run. Despite those homers, McKenzie left the game in line for the win before the Guardians' bullpen faltered in the sixth inning. The right-hander had limited opponents to three runs or fewer in each of his last seven outings before his step back Tuesday. McKenzie is at a 3.77 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 54:34 K:BB over 57.1 innings across 11 starts. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Royals in a tough divisional matchup. • Davis Schneider swats two doubles, drives in three
Davis Schneider went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.

Advice: Schneider doubled to kick off the game, but his second double, which came in the second inning, drove in two runs to give the Blue Jays an early 3-0 lead. He would add another RBI in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly to score George Springer, upping his RBI total to 28 on the season. Schneider is hitting a solid .255 on the year and is slashing .250/.368/.487 this month. While he’s not hitting for an overly high average, he’s offered decent power and an ability to drive in runs. • Avoids fracture
Manager Pat Murphy said after Tuesday's loss to the Cubs that Megill did not suffer a fracture on the line drive that hit his arm in the 10th inning, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

Advice: It remains unclear whether or not Megill will need to spend time on the injured list, but the 30-year-old reliever seems to have avoided the worst. The righty has been operating as Milwaukee's primary closer with Devin Williams (back) on the injured list, though the ninth inning may be given to Hoby Milner or Joel Payamps if Megill is forced to miss time. • Murphy: Trevor Megill didn’t fracture right elbow
Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters late Tuesday that Trevor Megill didn’t suffer a fracture when he was hit on the right elbow by a line-drive.

Advice: It’s an extremely encouraging update at Megill appears to have avoided serious injury after being struck directly on the right elbow by a 99-mph line-drive during Tuesday’s extra-inning showdown against the Cubs. The 30-year-old stopper is presumably day-to-day for the moment with a contusion, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he wound up requiring a trip to the injured list, just to bring in a fresh arm. • Falls to St. Louis
Abbott (3-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Abbott held St. Louis to three runs through six innings, as he pitched into the seventh for a third straight start. However, Abbott would allow the first three batters to reach in the frame, punctuated by a Nolan Gorman homer, en route to an eventual 7-1 loss. The 24-year-old left-hander had held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in nine of his 10 starts prior to Tuesday. Abbott's ERA rose to 3.29 with a 1.13 WHIP and 46:17 K:BB over 63 innings this year. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for early next week in Colorado. • Exits with injury
Megill was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cubs after getting hit in the right arm by a line drive, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Megill entered Tuesday's game in the 10th inning and threw three pitches to Mike Tauchman before getting taking a 99-mph line drive off his right (throwing) arm. Megill immediately came out of the game and will presumably head into the clubhouse for imaging. The Brewers should have more information on his status following Tuesday's contest.
