Graham Ashcraft starting Wednesday vs. PiratesGraham Ashcraft will start on Wednesday against the Pirates.
Advice: Ashcraft will get the call back to the majors to take the ball in place of Nick Lodolo, who landed on the injured list with a blister issue. India has two hits, two steals in lossJonathan India went 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored, and two steals in a loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.
Advice: India is enjoying a tremendous month of June, going 26-for-72 (.361) with two home runs, 15 runs scored, and three steals. India has also been leading off since TJ Friedl went on the IL, which is more good news for his fantasy value. Headed to majorsThe Reds will recall Ashcraft from Triple-A Louisville to start against the Pirates on Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Advice: Ashcraft had been one of the candidates to replace Nick Lodolo (finger) in the Reds' rotation, and it now appears the spot is officially his. Ashcraft was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the month after putting up a 5.05 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 62.1 innings over 12 starts, and he's bounced back nicely with Louisville, giving up four earned runs in 12 innings while striking out 12 batters and walking two. The 26-year-old righty will almost certainly make multiple starts during his stint with the Reds, but he'll likely be pushed back to Triple-A once Lodolo returns from the IL. Mitch Keller escapes with win over RedsMitch Keller allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Reds on Tuesday.
Advice: Keller struck out six and walked three on the day; however, he got just eight whiffs on 48 swings for a 17 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW. Keller’s command was good in this one, which led to 22 called strikes and helped him get through without the most dynamic stuff. He’ll look for a smoother rice against the Cardinals next time out. Hunter Greene coughs up six runs to PiratesHunter Greene allowed six runs on seven hits in four innings in a loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.
Advice: The game started with Greene throwing up on the mound after delivering a first-inning fastball and it didn’t get much better from there. He struck out five and walked two and his velocity was fine on the day, but he clearly wasn’t feeling 100 percent. He posted a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW, but the command wasn’t great and the Pirates were able to scratch out their runs on just one extra-base hit. Starting nightcap WednesdayAtlanta will recall Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett to start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Advice: With Tuesday's game between Atlanta and St. Louis getting pushed back a day due to rain, Elder will get a chance to make a spot start during Wednesday's nightcap. The 25-year-old owns a 6.46 ERA and 1.94 WHIP through 23.2 innings across five MLB starts this season, and he allowed six earned runs in four innings during his most recent outing with Gwinnett. George Springer finds power stroke in winGeorge Springer went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in a 9-4 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Advice: It was Springer’s sixth home run of the season and first since June 4th. Springer only has three home runs since April 24th, so we’re not looking at a power surge here. It’s also Springer’s first multi-hit game since June 3rd. It’s certainly nice to see, but the 34-year-old is still just 13-for-78 (.167) in June so we’ll need to see a few more games like this before we believe he’s figuring things out. Vlad Jr. has four RBI in win over Red SoxVladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-5 with four RBI in a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Advice: Vlad Jr. drove in two on a double in the third inning and then drove in two more on another double in the fourth inning. He now has 40 RBI on the season and has been far and away the Blue Jays’ best hitter this season. He also made two bad errors in the field, but that doesn’t count for most fantasy leagues. Bryce Elder starting Wednesday against CardinalsBryce Elder will start on Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Advice: Elder remains a non-factor for fantasy purposes, but the interesting wrinkle here with him coming up to take the ball for the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader at Busch Stadium is that it pushes Chris Sale back an extra day to take the ball against his former team in Chicago.
