    • No-decision vs. Philly
King didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: King had to contend with traffic for most of his outing Tuesday, though he'd manage to hold the Phillies to one run before departing in the fifth. The 29-year-old right-hander has pitched well of late, posting a 1.71 ERA with 34 strikeouts over his last five outings (26.2 innings). Overall, King is 5-4 with a 3.49 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 101:37 K: BB across 87.2 innings this season. He's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Brewers this weekend in his next start. • Jonathan Cannon barely misses shutout in first win
Jonathan Cannon shut out the Astros for 8 2/3 innings, striking out four, in a 2-0 win for the White Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: That’ll do. It’s the first major league victory for Cannon, who came in with a 4.56 ERA in four starts and one relief appearance. Facing a lineup missing Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker, Cannon gave up seven hits tonight, but just one went for extra bases. He walked only one before coming out with two on in a 2-0 game in the ninth. There doesn’t seem like a ton of upside here, but between the sinker, sweeper and cutter, Cannon has the potential to last as a major league starter. He’s still a weak bet for fantasy purposes while pitching for one of the league’s worst teams. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:04 pm
    • Michael King struggles with command on Tuesday
Michael King allowed one run on six hits in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Phillies.

Advice: The right-hander struck out six but also walked three on the day and needed 100 pitches to get through his 4 2/3 innings. He did induce 12 whiffs on 47 swings for a 27 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW but he also had just a 44 percent zone rate on the night. King has been missing plenty of bats in his first season as a full-time starter, but the consistency hasn’t quite been there. Still, fantasy mangers are not upset about a 3.49 ERA and he remains a solid start this weekend against the Brewers. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:40 pm

    • Fires 8.2 scoreless in first win
Cannon (1-1) earned his first career win Tuesday against Houston, allowing seven hits and one walk over 8.2 scoreless innings. He struck out four.

Advice: The 23-year-old rookie tossed the best game of his short career, leading the charge for the first White Sox shutout since May 21. Cannon has displayed masterful control in the majors, allowing just six walks in 32.1 innings. The Chicago right-hander now sports a 3.34 ERA and 1.24 WHIP this season. He is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Tigers on the road this weekend. Although Mike Clevinger (elbow) is rehabbing and nearing a return, Cannon's strong performance to date may keep him in the White Sox rotation long term. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:32 pm
    • Schwellenbach strikes out 7 in win over Tigers
Spencer Schwellenbach allowed one earned run over six innings while picking up the win on Tuesday against the Tigers.

Advice: Schwellenbach turned in his best performance of the season on Tuesday to earn his first career win. In addition to striking out a season-high seven batters, Schwellenbach also allowed just one run on three hits — both season-bests. The rookie has now allowed three earned runs in his last 12 innings pitched and has a 10:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio over that span. Schwellenbach is scheduled to make his next start on Monday against the Cardinals. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:55 pm
    • Lance Lynn has fourth straight rough start
Lance Lynn allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: Lynn may have allowed only three extra-base hits, but he allowed 14 hard-hit baseballs and had an average exit velocity allowed of 95 mph. This is now the fourth straight rough start for Lynn, who has not pitched more than 5 1/3 innings in any of those starts, allowing a combined 16 runs (12 earned) in 18 innings. He did get 10 whiffs on 27 swings with his fastball on Tuesday but none of his other pitchers were particularly effective. He now has a 4.08 ERA and finds himself with a much tougher start next week against the Braves. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:46 pm

    • Yankees transfer Clarke Schmidt to 60-day IL
Yankees transferred RHP Clarke Schmidt to the 60-dau injured list.

Advice: Nothing has changed regarding Schmidt’s return timetable as the procedural move merely opens up a spot on New York’s 40-man roster. The 28-year-old righty has been on the shelf since late May recovering from a right lat strain and is first-eligible to return on July 26. Rotoworld Tuesday, 3:16 pm

    • Moves to 60-day IL
The Yankees transferred Schmidt (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

Advice: The Yankees announced Schmidt would be shut down from throwing for 4-to-6 weeks once they placed him on the IL on May 30, so his move to the 60-day IL hardly comes as a surprise. He'll be eligible for activation July 26, but a better idea of his return timeline will have to wait until he's been cleared to throw again. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:15 pm

    • Making season debut Saturday
Scherzer (back/thumb) will return from the injured list and start against the Royals on Saturday, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Scherzer has been on the injured list all season while recovering from offseason back surgery and battling thumb/forearm injuries throughout his rehab process. However, after experiencing no issues following his latest rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock, the 39-year-old veteran has officially been given the green light to return to the Rangers' rotation. He posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.18 WHIP alongside a 17:3 K:BB through 11 innings during his assignment, and it's unclear if the right-hander will be working under any restrictions during his return to a big-league mound.
