  • Cubs demote Pete Crow-Armstrong to Triple-A
    Cubs optioned OF Pete Crow-Armstrong to Triple-A Iowa.

    Advice: It’s nothing Crow-Armstrong did wrong, but the Cubs don’t want a 22-year-old top prospect sitting on the bench as often as Crow-Armstrong was going to now that Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki are healthy. PCA hit .236/.295/.364 in 63 plate appearances and graded out very well defensively in center during his four weeks in the majors. Rotoworld Today, 4:42 pm
     
  • Xander Bogaerts out with shoulder inflammation
    The Padres are calling Xander Bogaerts’ injury left shoulder inflammation.

    Advice: It’s an odd diagnosis, being that this was a sudden injury sustained while diving for a ball, but it’s what we’re left with after the Padres couldn’t initially find anything serious going on within the shoulder. He obviously was not included in the lineup for the second game of today’s doubleheader. Rotoworld Today, 4:16 pm

  • Starling Marte tossed for arguing third strike
    Starling Marte was ejected from Monday’s game in the fourth inning for arguing balls and strikes.

    Advice: Marte couldn’t let it go after being (correctly) called out to end the top of the fourth and was tossed as he was beginning to walk out to right field for the bottom of the inning. Tyrone Taylor replaced him versus the Guardians. Rotoworld Today, 4:08 pm
     
  • J.P. Crawford (oblique) activated by Mariners
    Mariners activated SS J.P. Crawford from the 10-day injured list.

    Advice: Crawford’s pregame workout today was impressive enough to get him back on the roster tonight after his absence due to an oblique strain and a subsequent bruised hand, but he won’t return to the starting lineup until tomorrow. Dylan Moore will return to his utility role then after spending the last 3 1/2 weeks as a starting shortstop. Rotoworld Today, 3:47 pm
     
  • Mariners send Leo Rivas back to Triple-A
    Mariners optioned INF Leo Rivas to Triple-A Tacoma.

    Advice: Not given much of a chance with Dylan Moore playing well at shortstop, Rivas went 2-for-6 with a triple in 25 days with the Mariners. Rotoworld Today, 3:47 pm
     
  • Danny Jansen homers, drives in five in Jays’ win
    Danny Jansen went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and five RBI as the Blue Jays bested the White Sox 9-3 on Monday.

    Advice: Jansen, who hadn’t batted higher than fifth this season until today, had his big game from the second spot in the lineup. He’s batting .333/.397/.681 with five homers and just nine strikeouts through 78 plate appearances. It seems like more than just a hot streak, so he’s probably a top-10 fantasy catcher for the short term. Still, staying healthy has been quite an issue for the 29-year-old.   • Bo Bichette goes 4-for-4, doubles three times
    Bo Bichette finished 4-for-4 with three doubles against the White Sox on Monday.

    Advice: The first double should have been an out, but the last two were legit. Those two and the single were all hit at least 105 mph, making this easily Bichette’s best exit-velocity day of the season. It was definitely an encouraging showing, even if it was aided by some meatballs from the White Sox staff. Rotoworld Today, 3:39 pm

  • Paul DeJong goes 3-for-4, hits seventh homer
    Paul DeJong went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and a steal against the Blue Jays on Monday.

    Advice: Given his current approach, it almost seems like an accident whenever DeJong finishes an at-bat without a strikeout or a homer. Consequently, this was the third time in 42 games this season that he’d picked up multiple singles in a game. Still, he’s been one of the White Sox’s best players in hitting .246/.295/.462.   • Andrew Benintendi goes hitless in loss to Jays
    After taking a seat Sunday, Andrew Benintendi went 0-for-4 as the White Sox’s No. 5 hitter Monday against the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Benintendi really set the tone for the day when he went out of the strike zone and tapped into a double play on a 1-0 pitch from Jose Berríos in the second inning. The White Sox collectively went 4-for-5 against Berríos that inning, yet they wound up with only one run. Benintendi also made a half-hearted slide attempt at a flyball in the second to give Bo Bichette a double and, later in the game, allowed Bichette to tag up and go from second to third without a throw on a 320-foot fly to left-center. At this point, Benintendi belongs on the injured list or in the minors. The White Sox will keep playing him, though. Rotoworld Today, 3:39 pm
