Hoffman struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save Sunday vs Miami.
Advice: Hoffman allowed a runner to reach on an error but was otherwise solid to pick up his sixth save. Jose Alvarado leads the Phillies with 12 saves this season, but Hoffman has gotten the occasional opportunity. No matter the role, Hoffman has proven to be one of the most reliable bullpen weapons for the Phillies this season, pitching with a 1.27 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. Rotowire.comToday, 3:49 pm
Patrick Bailey went 2-for-5 with three RBI on Sunday in the Giants’ lopsided victory over the Dodgers.
Advice: Bailey’s impressive offensive breakout continued in this one with run-scoring doubles in the fourth and eighth inning, respectively, as part of a 10-run, 16-hit offensive explosion for San Francisco in this one. The 25-year-old backstop holds an impressive .284/.353/.433 triple-slash line with six homers and two steals in 222 plate appearances through 59 games so far. RotoworldToday, 3:36 pm
Ryan McMahon went 1-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base against the White Sox on Sunday.
Advice: McMahon’s stolen base was his third of the year. He started the scoring as he came around on a Garrett Crochet balk in the second inning and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Michael Toglia in the 14th inning. McMahon is hitting .270 with an .812 OPS, 14 home runs and 42 RBI on the season. RotoworldToday, 2:46 pm
Jeff Hoffman struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday against the Marlins.
Advice: Hoffman worked around a throwing error from Trea Turner to secure this save. While possibly the best Phillie reliever, José Alvarado has grabbed most of the saves. He pitched on Saturday opening the door for Hoffman. He and the rest of this stellar bullpen were instrumental in the team’s huge comeback victory. RotoworldToday, 2:00 pm
Nico Hoerner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Brewers on Sunday.
Advice: It was a quiet afternoon for the Cubs’ offense as they could only muster one run against the Brewers. Hoerner’s home run was just his fourth of the year. He’s hitting just .248 on the season, but has a hit in each of his last seven games. He’s 10-for-27 (.370) with two home runs and three RBI in that time. RotoworldToday, 1:47 pm
Corey Seager, who hurt his left hand when he was hit by a pitch Saturday, is out of the Rangers lineup for Sunday night’s game against the Orioles.
Advice: Josh Smith starts at shortstop, with Davis Wendzel playing third base. The good news is that Seager isn’t going on the IL, at least not yet. The Rangers have tomorrow off, so they can wait until Tuesday to make a decision there. RotoworldToday, 1:41 pm
Seager (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Advice: The 30-year-old had X-rays come back negative after being struck in the left wrist by a pitch Saturday, and he'll miss at least one start. The Rangers are calling up Jonathan Ornelas for added infield depth, per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, which could signify that Seager will miss some time. No IL move is coming Sunday though, as Brock Burke was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. Josh Smith is starting at shortstop as Davis Wendzel mans the hot corner. Rotowire.comToday, 1:37 pm
Gabriel Moreno (thumb) could be activated off the injured list as as soon as Tuesday, Jody Jackson of the Diamondbacks reports.
Advice: Moreno was placed on the injured list last Saturday with a sprained left thumb, and he’ll be eligible for activation Tuesday. The 24-year-old may get a couple extra days, but the Diamondbacks already announced they don’t believe he needs a rehab assignment, so it would take something unforeseeable for him not to be back before the middle of the week. Schneider is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Advice: Scheider has a .165/.221/.304 slash line through 25 games in June and will hit the bench Sunday after going 1-for-14 over his past six contests. Daulton Varsho will shift to left field while Kevin Kiermaier receives a start in center. Rotowire.comToday, 7:58 am
