      Advice: Suarez has been one of the best closers in baseball this season with 12 saves (in 12 chances) and a 0.47 ERA, so his usage in the eighth inning against Atlanta was not a demotion. Rather, the right-hander was called upon to face the heart of Atlanta's formidable lineup, and though he gave up singles to Marcell Ozuna and Chadwick Tromp, Suarez managed to emerge from the outing with his 16-game scoreless streak intact. The 33-year-old should see most of his work in the ninth inning going forward, though Friday's usage is an indication that manager Mike Shildt won't hesitate to use Suarez in the highest-leverage situations prior to the ninth if the situation calls for it.       Advice: The right-hander needed only six pitches (five strikes) to dispatch the heart of Toronto's order, setting down Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero and Justin Turner. Fairbanks still isn't quite flashing his usual velocity -- he topped out at 97.3 mph with his fastball Friday after averaging 98.9 mph in 2023 -- but he hasn't seemed to miss the extra gear since coming off the IL, firing four straight hitless, scoreless appearances with a 6:0 K:BB.       Arenado went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Friday's 10-6 win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: Arenado had gone 5-for-38 with no multi-hit efforts and a 1:10 BB:K over his previous nine contests. The third baseman hasn't stumbled as much as some of his teammates, but he's still in the midst of a down year, especially from a power standpoint. He's slashing .268/.323/.375 with three home runs, 22 RBI, 17 runs scored and nine doubles over 43 games on the year. Arenado hasn't hit fewer than 20 homers in a full-length campaign since 2014, and he's never slugged lower than .405 over a full year in his career, but he's got a lot of work to do to get back to those levels in 2024. It all worked out perfectly; Suarez gave up a couple of hits, but he protected the two-run lead, and then Jeremiah Estrada locked things up against the bottom of the order in the ninth.       Advice: All of the damage against Miller came in the first inning, when the Orioles put up five runs before the right-hander could record an out. Miller would settle in and blank Baltimore over his final 4.1 frames, allowing just two more hits, though the Mariners couldn't climb out of the early hole in an eventual 9-2 defeat. The 24-year-old Miller has been solid this year overall, holding opponents to two runs or fewer in six of his nine starts. He sports a 3.08 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP and 52:16 K:BB across 52.2 innings this season. Miller is currently lined up for a tough road matchup with the Yankees in his next outing.       Advice: The 25-year-old hurler walked one and recorded only one strikeout on the night. The Orioles jumped on him early and often in this one, with Gunnar Henderson blasting a leadoff home run to start a five-run uprising in the opening inning. Miller settled in nicely afterwards, but the damage had already been done. He got just six swings and misses on 86 pitches in the contest, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 22 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he totes an impressive 3.08 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 52/16 K/BB ratio (52 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Yankees in New York.       Advice: Bohm opened the scoring in the home half of the first inning, plating J.T. Realmuto with his run-scoring double off of Nationals’ right-hander Jake irvin. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night. For the season, the 27-year-old slugger is now hitting a robust .331/.397/.521 with four long balls, 37 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.       Brandon Lowe (oblique) could be activated from the injured list and return to the Rays’ lineup on Monday.

      Advice: The 29-year-old slugger will restart his minor league rehab assignment on Saturday and is set to play games on back-to-back days at Triple-A Durham. If all goes well with that, he’ll be cleared to rejoin the Rays for Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox.
