It was also the ninth time in 12 starts that Woods Richardson left with a no-decision. It was the third time in four outings that Woods Richardson struck out six batters, including a couple of big strikeouts to end the fourth and fifth innings, each coming with runners in scoring position to keep the game tied. Woods Richardson has been solid throughout his first full season in the majors, tallying a 3.26 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 12 starts with 52 strikeouts over 60.2 innings.       Gil (9-2) was hit with the loss against the Orioles on Thursday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings.

      Advice: Gil struggled out of the gate, surrendering a leadoff double to open the contest before eventually allowing one run in the first. However, things would get much worse for the right-hander in the following frame, as he failed to retire nine of the next 10 batters he faced, leading to his shortest outing of the campaign. Gil gave up a season-high seven runs on the afternoon and failed to make it through six innings for the third consecutive start. It also marked his first loss since April 15 against Toronto.       Luis Gil allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Thursday.

      Advice: Gil gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out one. He was due to have a bad start. Gil entered the game with a .194 BABIP allowed and 83 percent left on base percentage.       Landon Knack will start on Friday against the Angels.

      Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed to reporters following Thursday’s win over the Rockies that Knack will get the ball to kick off the Freeway Series against the Angels. The 26-year-old righty draws the starting assignment in place of an injured Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He’s posted a respectable 2.61 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings (four starts) this season in the majors. He figures to get some extended run with both Yamamoto and Walker Buehler on the shelf for an extended period.       Knack will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start against the Angels on Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Knack has been extremely effective in the majors this season, posting a 2.61 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across 20.2 innings through his first four starts. He'll now return to Los Angeles to fill the opening in the Dodgers' rotation left by Yoshinobu Yamamoto's (shoulder) trip to the injured list, though there's a good chance Knack's time in the majors is limited to only Friday's outing.       Simeon Woods Richardson held the Rays to just two runs in his six innings of work, but he didn’t factor into the decision Thursday.

      Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander struck out six while walking two and allowing four hits. Woods Richardson struggled in his previous outing against the A’s while allowing four runs in four innings, but this was much more like the version we’ve seen for the majority of 2024.       Yates earned a save against the Mets on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Yates protected a two-run Texas lead in the top of the ninth frame, retiring the side in order on 16 pitches. The veteran reliever is a perfect 11-for-11 in save chances this season -- no closer in baseball has converted more saves without blowing any opportunities.
