• Continuing assignment Saturday
Lowe (oblique) will resume his rehab assignment Saturday at Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Lowe initially landed on the injured list April 12 with a strained right oblique, and he played four rehab games in the minors before a setback temporarily halted his assignment Sunday. Now that he's been cleared to get back on the field, the plan is for Lowe to play two more games with Durham before returning to Tampa Bay on Monday ahead of its upcoming series against the Red Sox. • Dominant in first MLB win
Skenes (1-0) earned the win over the Cubs on Friday, issuing just one walk while striking out 11 over six hitless innings.

Advice: Skenes was lights out in his second big-league start -- he struck out the first seven batters faced while holding the Cubs without a baserunner until Michael Busch's one-out walk in the fifth inning. Skenes has certainly looked as-advertised to start his career -- he averaged 99.3 MPH with his fastball Friday, generating a 44-percent whiff rate with the pitch. The 21-year-old right-hander has allowed three runs through his first 10 innings while striking out 18. Skenes will look to keep rolling in his next outing, tentatively lined up as a home matchup with the Giants. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

  • Evan Carter (back) available off bench on Friday
Evan Carter (back) was held out of the Rangers’ starting lineup once again on Friday night, but will be available off the bench.

Advice: The 21-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since Saturday due to stiffness in his lower back. The good news is that he’s progressing and won’t require a trip to the injured list, and likely wouldn’t have been in the starting lineup anyways on Friday with left-hander Tyler Anderson taking the ball for the Angels. Expect Carter to return to the starting lineup at some point over the weekend. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Kyle Manzardo rides the pine again on Friday night
Kyle Manzardo is not in the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Twins.

Advice: Fantasy managers were hopeful that Manzardo would at least find himself as a regular against right-handed pitching once he was promoted from Triple-A Columbus, but that hasn’t been the case so far. The 23-year-old slugger has hit just .148/.207/.185 with zero RBI and a 10/1 K/BB ratio in his first 29 plate appearances at the game’s highest level. David Fry will function as the Guardians’ designated hitter on Friday night and will bat fifth against Simeon Woods Richardson and the Twins. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Throwing off mound
Eovaldi (groin) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Friday will mark the first time Eovaldi has thrown off a mound since being diagnosed with a right groin strain May 3. He's eligible to return from the IL on Saturday, but considering the right-hander is just now resuming mound work, he may still be a week or two from returning to Texas' rotation. A clearer timeline for his return may emerge once he progresses to facing live hitters. Rotowire.com 32 minutes ago

  • Paul Skenes goes six hitless, fans 11 in first win
Paul Skenes pitched no-hit ball for six innings, striking out 11, in the Pirates’ 9-3 win over the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Skenes was overwhelming in striking out the first seven batters he faced, and he didn’t let up much after that. He allowed only one hard-hit ball, a 107-mph groundout from Miguel Amaya. In fact, six of his seven non-strikeout outs came on grounders. It was a clear step forward from his debut last week and even a little extra impressive because it came against a lineup that had just seen him. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

  • Kyle Hendricks gets roughed up by Pirates in loss
Kyle Hendricks was lit up for eight runs — seven earned — and 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Hendricks had a decent effort against the same lineup Sunday in his first start off the IL, but the Pirates had his number today. It perhaps shouldn’t have been quite as bad as it was; he actually wound up with a nice 35% CSW and none of the nine hard-hit balls he allowed came in over 103.9 mph. He struck out four and walked none. Hendricks’ spot is probably safe for now, but similar results this weekend against Atlanta might force the Cubs to make a change even before Jordan Wicks returns. • Jared Triolo homers as part of three-RBI day
Jared Triolo delivered a two-run homer and an RBI single against the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Ke’Bryan Hayes’ back injury gave Triolo a reprieve when Nick Gonzales was called up, but Gonzales is performing well so far (.824 OPS) and Triolo will need more of this if he’s going to stick around after Hayes returns. Triolo entered the day having gone hitless in his last four games and having collected only three extra-base hits in 161 plate appearances on the season. He’s at .201/.291/.257 overall. • Yasmani Grandal knocks in three against Cubs
Yasmani Grandal went 2-for-5 and knocked in three runs in the rout of the Pirates on Friday.

Advice: Grandal has started four of the last five games over Joey Bart, so it’s not much of a job share behind the plate for the Pirates right now. Grandal has hit .212/.229/.424 but with nine RBI in 10 games since coming off the injured list. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
