• Throws bullpen Tuesday
Stripling (elbow) was able to complete a bullpen session before Tuesday's game against the Angels and is set to throw another Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The veteran right-hander came away feeling healthy from Tuesday's activity, and he's expected to throw 30-35 pitches in his session Saturday. Assuming that bullpen also goes off without a hitch, Stripling could be deemed ready to face hitters at some point during the subsequent week. Rotowire.com Today, 8:47 am

  • Tigers recall Keider Montero to pitch Wednesday
Tigers recalled RHP Keider Montero from Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: The Tigers are bypassing him in favor of an opener, but Montero will make his second big-league appearance Wednesday against the Phillies. He gave up four runs over 4 1/3 innings against the Pirates in his debut four weeks ago. Rotoworld Today, 8:45 am
  • Starting second game Wednesday
Liberatore will start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Atlanta, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Liberatore's last appearance was a spot start a week ago, and he went 3.2 innings and threw 48 pitches against the Marlins. Based on the workload he handled versus Miami, Liberatore should be capable of going at least that long in Wednesday's outing, though the St. Louis bullpen will certainly be needed to cover multiple innings. • Kyle Muller (shoulder) begins rehab assignment
Kyle Muller opened a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas by throwing a scoreless innings Tuesday.

Advice: Muller has missed a month with left shoulder tendinitis. We’ve yet to hear whether the A’s intend to stretch him out before bringing him back to the majors. He was used exclusively as a reliever before getting hurt, but he topped out at 5 1/3 innings and threw four (on one day of rest!) in his last outing before going on the IL. Rotoworld Today, 7:59 am

  • Reid Detmers fans 10, gives up two homers in loss
Reid Detmers struck out 10 but still gave up five runs in six innings Tuesday for Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Although he allowed only five hard-hit balls, two turned into homers and he still gave up eight hits anyway. Detmers has a 6.00 ERA and a 30/7 K/BB ratio over 24 innings in four starts since his demotion. Rotoworld Today, 7:54 am

  • Called up, working in bulk relief
The Tigers recalled Montero from Tripe-A Toledo on Wednesday.

Advice: Per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com, Montero is slated to serve as a bulk reliever for the Tigers in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, likely entering the game in the second or third inning once opening pitcher Tyler Holton exits the contest. Montero's lone prior big-league appearance came as a starter back on May 29, when he gave up four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five across 4.1 innings in a loss to the Pirates. Montero owns a 5.03 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 13 starts with Toledo this season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:54 am
  • DL Hall gets through 2 2/3 scoreless in rehab
DL Hall pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in his latest rehab appearance with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Advice: Hall, on the IL since late April with a sprained left knee, allowed four hits, walked one and struck out none, so a dominant performance this was not. Hall’s 46 pitches were his high total in four appearances since he restarted his rehab assignment on June 13. At this rate, he might be optioned to the minors instead of rejoining the major league roster when his rehab assignment concludes. Rotoworld Today, 7:50 am

  • Alex Faedo (hip) begins rehab assignment
Alex Faedo retired two of the three batters he faced in his first rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Advice: Faedo has been out for three weeks with hip inflammation. He should return to the Tigers pen in the near future. Rotoworld Today, 7:43 am

  • Allan Winans fans nine in Triple-A start
Allan Winans struck out nine over six scoreless innings for Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Advice: Winans is on some kind of roll at that moment; his last four starts have seen him allow one earned run and post a 34/4 K/BB in 25 innings. The 28-year-old made one start for the Braves back in April, giving up six earned runs in five innings, but he’ll be in line for another shot if something opens up. Rotoworld Today, 7:41 am
