• Returning from two-game absence
Cruz (ankle) will start at shortstop and bat third in Sunday's game against the Rockies, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Cruz will check back into the lineup after a sore left ankle prevented him from playing in either of the first two games of the series. The fact that the Pirates are using him at shortstop Sunday rather than deploying him at designated hitter would seem to speak to confidence in Cruz's health heading into the team's upcoming six-game week. • Huge day at plate
Greene went 4-for-5 with one walk, two home runs and six RBI in Saturday's 13-5 win over the Astros.

Advice: Greene was a beast in this contest. He contributed a solo shot in the first inning, a three-run blast in the second and an RBI single in the third as the Tigers jumped out to a 10-0 lead. His sixth RBI of the day came on a bases-loaded walk in the eighth. The outfielder has driven in 12 runs during his six-game hitting streak and he's batting .321 (17-for-53) in June. The 23-year-old is up to 14 homers, 36 RBI, 48 runs scored, three stolen bases and a .256/.348/.488 slash line through 69 contests overall as he continues to cement himself as a building block for the Tigers during their ongoing rebuild. • Falls to Brewers on Saturday
Abbott (5-6) took the loss against Milwaukee on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Abbott navigated around a stream of baserunners to keep the Brewers off the scoreboard for four frames, but he put himself in quick danger by walking the first two batters in the fifth. That came back to hurt him in a big way when Joey Ortiz hit a changeup for a three-run homer, accounting for all the runs Abbott surrendered in the outing. It was the southpaw's second straight start of five frames after he went at least six innings in four consecutive outings between May 15 and June 3. Abbott has fared reasonably well this season with a 3.42 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, though his 60:25 K:B over 79 frames doesn't help his fantasy stock. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:41 pm

  • Andrew Abbott takes loss against Brewers
Andrew Abbott allowed three runs on four hits in five innings in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: It wasn’t a poor performance for the left-hander, who walked three and struck out three on the day. As is typical, Abbott didn’t get many whiffs, with just six whiffs on 43 swings for a 14 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW. However, he also didn’t allow much hard contact with just an 82.3 mph average exit velocity allowed. He’ll take a 3.42 ERA into a game against the Red Sox next week, and his lack of strikeouts always makes him a bit risky for fantasy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:25 pm

  • Riley Greene homers twice in win
Riley Greene went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI and two runs scored in a 13-5 win over the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: Greene didn’t hit for a ton of power last year while recovering from a shoulder injury, so there was a narrative that he was more of a slap hitter, but that was never the case. The 23-year-old is now up to 14 home runs on the season to go along with 36 RBI and a .836 OPS. He looks to be in the midst of a full-on breakout and has a bright fantasy future ahead of him. • Oneil Cruz (ankle) remains out of Pirates’ lineup
Oneil Cruz (ankle) remains out of the Pirates’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s showdown against the Rockies.

Advice: It’s the second straight game that the dynamic 25-year-old shortstop has missed at Coors Field due to a sore ankle. The encouraging sign is that is still hasn’t been placed on the injured list, so the Pirates still believe that it’s truly a day-to-day type of situation. Jared Triolo will once again start in his place and will bat eighth against Rockies’ southpaw Ty Blach. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:27 pm

  • Jazz Chisholm Jr. gets rare day off on Saturday
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the division-rival Nationals.

Advice: It’s a rare day off for Chisholm, who has made an appeares in 68 of 69 contests this season for Miami. The talented 26-year-old outfielder is batting .254/.319/.435 with 10 homers and 13 steals in 285 plate appearances. It’ll be Dane Myers patrolling center field on Saturday afternoon in his absence.
