• Sitting again
Davis is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Davis will miss a third consecutive game Friday -- each of which has come against right-handed pitching. Considering the 31-year-old has been significantly better against southpaws, he could slip into the short side of a platoon. Tyler Soderstrom will fill in at the cold corner and bat eighth. • Looks like everyday third baseman
Vientos is expected to serve as the Mets' everyday third baseman after the club optioned Brett Baty to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Baty had started at third base in four of the Mets' previous five matchups versus right-handed pitchers, but the 24-year-old was unable to break out of his extended slump at the plate. He ends his time on the Mets' 26-man active roster having hit just .132 over his last 15 games, leaving Vientos as the big club's top option at the hot corner against both right- and left-handed pitching. Though he's an inferior defender compared to Baty, Vientos has been the far more effective hitter of the two at the big-league level this season, posting a .945 OPS over 48 plate appearances for the Mets. With Baty at least temporarily removed from the mix and a path to regular at-bats having been cleared up, Vientos makes for a worthy pickup for fantasy managers seeking an infusion of power. • Not in Thursday's lineup
Davis is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Davis is on the bench for a second straight day. The Rays are using a right-handed opener in Shawn Armstrong, so it's possible Davis enters mid-game if Tampa Bay eventually turns to a lefty. Davis has a .776 OPS against southpaws this season versus just a .581 OPS versus righties. Aledmys Diaz will start at first base Thursday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:18 am

  • Getting Wednesday off
Davis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: Davis will hit the bench after he went 1-for-6 at the dish while starting in both of the past two games. Tyler Soderstrom will step in for Davis at first base. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:21 pm

  • Jordan Westburg out Wednesday with bruised hand
Jordan Westburg is out of Wednesday’s lineup after getting hit on the right hand by a pitch Tuesday.

Advice: X-rays came back negative, and Westburg is day-to-day. The Orioles are using Ramón Urías at third base today. The 25-year-old was hit in the right hand by Red Sox start Brayan Bello in the sixth inning of Tuesday’s showdown, but managed to stay in the contest after a quick check from the Orioles’ training staff. • X-rays clean, but not in lineup
Westburg is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox due to a sore right hand, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Westburg was hit in the hand by a pitch in Tuesday's 8-3 loss. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that X-rays on Westburg's hand came back negative, but the 25-year-old infielder will benefit from two full days of rest with Baltimore off Thursday. Ramon Urias will handle third base Wednesday in Westburg's stead. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:42 pm

  • Nolan Arenado gets scheduled day off
Nolan Arenado is out of the Cardinals lineup Wednesday in what manager Oli Marmol said was a day off scheduled long ago.

Advice: It’s apparently very important to note that this is not a reaction to Arenado’s lengthy slump, and last night’s homer didn’t result in a change of heart and putting him into the lineup today. Brendan Donovan is starting at third base, and Matt Carpenter is getting a start at DH. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:26 am
  • Back to bench role
Espinal is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Espinal started at third base in all three games of the Reds' weekend series versus the Dodgers, but he's been a spectator for all three games of the series with St. Louis now that Jeimer Candelario is healthy again after missing time with a neck injury. The Reds will likely to continue to make room for Espinal in the lineup when the team faces left-handed pitchers, but his opportunities to play against right-handers will become more infrequent now that the team has all of its infielders available save for Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) and Matt McLain (shoulder), the latter of whom has been on the injured list all season. • Getting breather Wednesday
Arenado is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Cincinnati.

Advice: Arenado snapped an 11-game homerless drought in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds, but he will be given a breather for Wednesday's day game. Brendan Donovan will start at third base in place of Arenado. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:39 am
