    • Pablo López struggles again, allows six runs
      Pablo López allowed six earned runs in 4 ⅔ innings against the Rangers on Sunday. He struck out six and walked one.

      Advice: López continued what’s been a poor season thus far. The six strikeouts were nice, but came with only seven swings and misses. He’s at his best when he’s missing bats with all four of his pitches, but neither his changeup nor curveball induced a whiff in this one. His strong peripherals suggest a bounce back is coming, but a 5.25 ERA on Memorial Day is quite ugly. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:27 pm
       
    • Yusei Kikuchi struggles through three innings
      Yusei Kikuchi was pulled after allowing five runs and eight hits in three innings Sunday against the Tigers.

      Advice: Kikuchi’s velocity was down 1.5 mph on this fastball and about 2.5 mph on his secondary pitches today, and he failed to record a strikeout against the 17 batters he faced. It was easily his worst performance of the year. Hopefully, the velocity drop can be explained by an illness or something else minor. Rotoworld Sunday, 12:27 pm
       
    • Roughed up in no-decision
      Kikuchi escaped Sunday's 14-11 loss to Detroit with a no-decision, yielding five earned runs on eight hits over just three innings. He did not record a walk or strikeout.

      Advice: Kikuchi got roughed up in this one, surrendering four extra-base hits including a solo home run to Spencer Torkelson. The five earned runs are a season high for Kikuchi, who entered this game on a four-game streak allowing two runs or fewer. The 32-year-old still sports a solid 3.25 ERA after Sunday's outing, but more regression could be coming if his 0.74 HR/9 normalizes to his career average of 1.56.       Ortiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's matchup against Boston.

      Advice: Ortiz will get a breather after starting the last eight games at third base, going 9-for-29 with six RBI and one home run in that stretch.     • Strikes out nine in loss
      Cease (5-4) was tagged with the loss Saturday, allowing four runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings against the Yankees. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Cease got himself into trouble right out of the gate after surrendering a leadoff single to Anthony Volpe to open the contest, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Aaron Judge two batters later. The right-hander would then go on to strike out five of the next seven batters he faced before giving up another two runs in the fourth. Cease has now allowed three or more runs in three consecutive starts, going 0-2 over that stretch. On a positive note, he's recorded at least eight strikeouts in four of his last five outings and has posted a dynamite 42:6 K:BB in May. His 82 strikeouts on the campaign leave him sitting behind only Tyler Glasnow (87) for the league lead. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:33 am
       
    • Homers again Saturday
      Steer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

      Advice: He touched up Walker Buehler in the first inning to give the Reds an early lead. As Mark Sheldon of MLB.com notes, Steer has now gone deep in back-to-back games after entering the series without a homer since May 1 (17 games). His struggles from the middle of the order this month have led the Reds to the cellar in the NL Central, though it's certainly not all his fault. Steer sits with a .227/.341/.403 line with six homers, 35 RBI, 25 runs scored and 11 steals through 50 games this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:50 am

    • Ties season high with eight Ks
      Williams allowed one run on five hits over five innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Saturday. He struck out eight without walking a batter.

      Advice: The only blemish was a solo shot given up to Julio Rodriguez in the fifth inning. It's incredible what Williams is doing after years of mediocrity. As Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com notes, Williams has yet to allow more than three runs in a start this season, and he's allowed one run or zero in seven of his 10 starts for a 2.29 ERA over 51 total innings. The track record and lack of whiffs make Williams tough to trust, but the 32-year-old is keeping the ball on the ground and helping create his own good fortune. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:15 am

      Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Nationals.

      Advice: He provided the Mariners' lone run with his third homer of the season and first since May 12. Rodriguez has been one of the biggest fantasy disappointments through two months of the 2024 campaign -- even after Saturday's homer, his OPS sits at .618, exactly 200 points below his mark from last season. Manager Scott Servais recently moved Rodriguez down to the No. 6 spot in the lineup, and it looks like that's where the 23-year-old will remain until his bat gets going.     • Cease strikes out nine in loss Saturday
      Dylan Cease allowed four runs in 6 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Yankees on Saturday.

      Advice: Cease allowed eight hits, no walks and struck out nine. He’s had two tough starts in a row with difficult matchups against the Braves and Yankees. His ERA has increased from 2.45 to 3.29 in that time. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road next week.
