      De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Thursday in an 8-4 victory against the Cubs.

      Advice: De La Cruz, on the one-year anniversary of his MLB debut, turned a two-run Reds deficit into a one-run lead with a three-run blast in the third frame. The long ball was his second in three contests following a season-long 21-game homer drought. After tallying 13 homers and 35 RBI over 98 games as a rookie last season, De La Cruz is nearing those marks with 11 long balls and 32 thefts through 63 contests in 2024.     • Struggles with control in loss
      Lopez (5-6) took the loss against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing seven runs on four hits and six walks while striking out four batters over four innings.

      Advice: Lopez threw just 54 of 96 pitches for strikes and issued a season-high six walks -- more than he had handed out over his previous seven starts combined. Three of the free passes came to consecutive batters leading off the third frame, and all three of the recipients came around to score. The wildness was probably an aberration for Lopez considering his overall track record, but even when he's finding the strike zone, he's been struggling to get batters out.       Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run in a 5-2 win against Washington on Thursday.

      Advice: Ozuna gave Atlanta some breathing room with his two-run, eighth-inning blast that extended his team's lead from one run to three. It was the slugger's 18th long ball of the campaign, moving him into fourth place in the majors.       Pablo Lopez allowed seven runs in four innings and took the loss against the Yankees on Thursday.

      Advice: Lopez gave up four hits, walked six and struck out four. It was a tough matchup against the Yankees, but Lopez was shaky in this one. He hit Austin Wells in the second inning and he scored on a home run by Trent Gresham. In the third inning, Lopez walked the bases loaded and all three of the runners ended up scoring. In the fourth inning, he walked Aaron Judge, who also ended up scoring. Lopez’ ERA is up to 5.45 on the season, but his xFIP is significantly lower at 3.42.     • X-rays negative on Nico Hoerner’s hand after HBP
      X-rays came back negative on Nico Hoerner’s hand after being hit by a pitch during Thursday’s game against the Reds.

      Advice: Hoerner remained in the contest and appears to have avoided serious injury after being plunked on the hand by a 96.5 mph fastball from Reds starter Hunter Greene during the early stages of the game.       Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Nationals on Thursday.

      Kikuchi (3-5) earned the win Thursday over Baltimore, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Kikuchi held the Orioles scoreless through his first five innings, ultimately allowing a lone run on an Adley Rutschman solo home run in the sixth. It was an encouraging rebound effort from the 32-year-old left-hander, who'd given up 10 earned runs over just 8.1 innings in his previous two outings. Kikuchi lowered his ERA to 3.48 on the campaign with a 1.22 WHIP and 71:15 K:BB across 13 starts (72.1 innings). Kikuchi is currently scheduled to face the Brewers on the road in his next outing.
