    • Clubs homer in win
Santander went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a triple in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Yankees.

Advice: Santander is 13-for-46 (.283) with five extra-base hits and three RBI over 12 contests in July. It was always reasonable to expect that he'd take a step back in the power department after slugging 13 homers in June. For the season, the outfielder is slashing .237/.301/.503 with 24 long balls, 58 RBI, 49 runs scored, 16 doubles and two triples over 91 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:54 pm

    • Takes tough-luck loss
Blanco (9-4) took the loss Sunday against the Rangers, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts across six innings.

Advice: All the damage against Blanco came in the first inning, when Josh Smith launched a two-run home run. However, the Astros only managed to score one run until the ninth inning, sticking Blanco with the loss despite logging a quality start. The 30-year-old has been outstanding this season, owning a 2.56 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP over 109.0 innings at the halfway point. Before 2024, Blanco had a career 4.78 ERA in 58.1 innings and had primarily been utilized out of the bullpen, making him one of baseball's biggest breakouts so far. • Takes loss Sunday
Duran (5-4) allowed an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter to take the loss Sunday versus the Giants.

Advice: Duran gave up a triple to Mike Yastrzemski to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning, and it turned into a run after Brooks Lee's relay throw ended up in the dugout. It's a tough way for Duran to take a loss, which also ended his 7.2-inning scoreless streak, but it won't hurt his ERA, which remains at 2.93 to go with a 0.98 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 30.2 innings. Since Duran was pitching in a tied game before giving up the run, he also will avoid taking his second blown save of the year, and his status as the Twins' primary closer is not in question. • Unlikely for Pittsburgh series
Manager Rob Thomson said Sunday that Realmuto (knee) likely won't be activated the 10-day injured list when the Phillies open their second-half schedule Friday in Pittsburgh, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Realmuto is reportedly progressing well in his recovery from the meniscectomy he underwent June 12, but his return date looks to have been pushed back a few days after poor weather in Philadelphia this past weekend prevented him from getting in his scheduled on-field work. The veteran backstop should continue to take part in baseball activities on his own during the All-Star break this coming week, but the Phillies will likely want to monitor him in a few more workouts before reinstating him from the IL. A return to action in the week of July 22 still looks to be in the cards for Realmuto. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:00 pm

    • Jhoan Duran takes loss on error in ninth
Jhoan Duran took a loss after giving up a triple to the only batter he faced Sunday against the ninth.

Advice: Opening the bottom of the ninth in a tie game, Duran gave up a well-placed 88.8 mph flyball to the right-center gap. Mike Yastrzemski tried stretching the hit into a triple, and relay man Brooks Lee threw the ball into the dugout to end the game. The run was unearned, of course. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:21 pm

    • Not ready for start of second half
Manager Aaron Boone said that Stanton (hamstring) won't be reinstated from the 10-day injured list when the Yankees open their second-half schedule Friday versus the Rays, but the 34-year-old could be activated soon thereafter, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Additionally, the skipper said that the Yankees remain undecided on whether will need to complete a minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the IL. Stanton was placed on the IL on June 23 with a left hamstring strain and was projected to miss around four weeks, and that timeline still looks to be accurate now that he's hit the three-week mark in his recovery process. Stanton will continue his rehab program during the All-Star break and could bypass a rehab assignment if the Yankees feel comfortable with how his hamstring is responding to live batting practice and pregame running. Fantasy managers shouldn't plan on Stanton being available for the start of the four-game series with the Rays, but a return from the IL the week after looks realistic. • Ronel Blanco tough luck loser against Rangers
Ronel Blanco allowed two hits and two earned runs across six innings on Sunday against the Rangers. He struck out five and walked two in defeat.

Advice: Blanco made precisely one mistake in this game: a 3-0 fastball to Josh Smith that got a little bit too much plate and left the yard. Otherwise, the Rangers had just one more hit and zero hard hit balls off Blanco. His slider forced an astounding 12 swings-and-misses as his primary pitch and he heads into the All-Star break with 11 quality starts, a 2.96 ERA, and 0.97 WHIP. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:51 pm

    • Santander connects for 24th homer Sunday
Anthony Santander homered and tripled in Sunday’s comeback win over the Yankees.

Advice: Santander put the Orioles ahead at the time with a solo shot to right field in the fifth inning which landed on Eutaw St. The first-time All-Star has 24 home runs to his name and appears poised to blow away his career-high of 33 homers from 2022 Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:14 pm

    • Sitting in second straight contest
Buxton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Buxton is on the bench for a second straight contest to close out of the Twins' first-half schedule, but manager Rocco Baldelli hasn't suggested that an injury is behind the consecutive absences. However, Buxton notably collided with the outfield wall while pursuing a flyball in Friday's 7-1 loss, and though he was able to finish the game, it's possible he could be dealing with some bumps and bruises. In any case, the Twins will take advantage of the upcoming All-Star break to build in some extended rest for Buxton, who hasn't been the most durable player over his career. Before sitting out Saturday's 4-2 win, Buxton had been swinging a hot bat in July, slashing .452/.500/.742 over eight games so far this month. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:47 am
