• Fails to qualify for win
Abbott did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits and four walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

Advice: After giving up a run in the opening frame, Abbott held the Phillies off the board through his next three innings, allowing just one baserunner. However, he lost the strike zone in the fifth, walking the first three batters to load the bases and ultimately forcing Abbott out of the game before he could qualify for the win. Still, it's been a nice start to the year for 24-year-old lefthander -- Abbott sports a 2.60 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP and 20:11 K:BB through his first five starts (27.2 innings). He's currently lined up to face the Rangers on the road Sunday in his next start. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Jordan Wicks pitches six strong in win over Astros
Jordan Wicks allowed five hits and two runs over six innings in the Cubs’ win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: Wicks had a chance to sit in cruise control after a five-run first inning courtesy of Cody Bellinger and Mike Tauchman gave him more than enough to work with. He allowed only two runs on the evening, one of which came on a solo homer to Jake Meyers, but the real story is the length of his outing. Prior to Tuesday, Wicks had yet to make it out of the fifth innings but was able to pitch six strong against the Astros. He’ll look for another productive outing on Sunday when he’s scheduled to face the Red Sox. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

  • J.P. France allows five earned runs vs. Cubs
J.P. France allowed five earned runs over five innings while striking out six in the Astros’ loss to the Cubs on Tuesday.

Advice: Things couldn’t have gone much worse for France, who entered the day with a 7.08 ERA and an 0-2 record. France allowed five earned runs and two homers in the first inning and needed 28 pitches to get through the frame. They would be the only runs he allowed on the day, but it was a rough night for the veteran righty, who tied a season-high with four walks while allowing nine total baserunners. Having faced the Yankees, Rangers (twice), Braves, and now, Cubs, things won’t get any easier for France in his next outing. He’s scheduled to toe the rubber on Tuesday against the Guardians. • Buxton hits first homer of season in win over CWS
Byron Buxton went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and one RBI in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.

Advice: Buxton’s first homer of the season couldn’t have come at a better time. Trailing 5-4 to kick off the ninth inning, Buxton sent a 377-foot shot off Steven Wilson into left field to tie the game. A walk by Carlos Santana, followed by a double from Ryan Jeffers, set up Alex Kirilloff for the game-winning single, giving the Twins their second win in as many days. Buxton struggled out of the gate to start the season but has now hit safely in four-straight games and appears to be rounding into form. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Larnach homers, drives in two vs. White Sox
Trevor Larnach went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.

Advice: Larnach belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning to draw the Twins within a run. His homer would prove crucial, as a solo homer by Byron Buxton in the ninth inning tied the game at 5-5 and put the twins in position for the win a few batters later. Run production has been hard to come by for Larnach, but he’s hit well since being called up and is currently slashing .350/.417/.750. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Exits with hip discomfort
Kiermaier was removed from Tuesday's game against the Royals due to left hip flexor discomfort, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Kiermaier went 0-for-2 during Tuesday's loss before being replaced on defense heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Blue Jays are officially considering him day-to-day, so his injury doesn't appear to be too serious, but it's possible the team holds him out of the lineup for a game or two to ensure he gets back to 100 percent. • Eloy Jiménez homers, drives in three vs. Twins
Eloy Jiménez went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

Advice: Jiménez got the scoring started for the lowly White Sox in the fourth inning when he got the best of Pablo López and sent a 417-foot blast into the left-field stands to put his team up 3-1. As has been the case for many White Sox players, Jiménez has largely underwhelmed to start the season. He entered the day batting .176, and Tuesday’s homer marks just his second of the season. He’s hard to trust as anything more than a desperation play until his bat heats up. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • Ohtani clobbers HR in win over WAS
Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in a win over the Nationals.

Advice: The home run was an absolute bomb that was 118.7 mph off the bat and traveled 450 feet. He also had a 109.7 mph flyout earlier in the game that had a .340 expected batting average. Ohtani is now hitting .364/.430/.677 with six home runs, 14 RBI, and five steals on the season. Yeah. he’s very good. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • Kevin Kiermaier day-to-day with hip flexor injury
Kevin Kiermaier was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Royals with left hip flexor discomfort.

Advice: Kiermaier is day-to-day and will undergo further evaluation after being lifted during the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Royals. There should be some clarity on his status at some point prior to Wednesday’s contest. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
