    • Homers, drives in four in win
Martinez went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 11-1 victory over the Cubs.

Advice: Martinez opened the scoring with a three-run home run off Shota Imanaga in the first inning, and he then added an RBI single in the fourth. Martinez went 1-for-10 in a quiet series against the Rangers earlier this week but continued a nice June, as he's now hitting .297 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 64 at-bats. On the season, he owns a .287 average with nine homers and 31 RBI in 178 at-bats. Rotowire.com Today, 3:13 pm

    • J.D. Martinez homers, drives in four in rout
J.D. Martinez delivered a three-run homer and an RBI single Friday as the Mets torched the Cubs 11-1.

Advice: Martinez is 11-for-27 with four homers, three doubles and 12 RBI in his last eight games. His current .870 OPS is practically a match for his career mark of .873, but it’s especially impressive given the current conditions, especially for a Mets hitter. Unfortunately, he’s probably going to lose his streak of five straight All-Star appearances, unless maybe the NL carries a third DH alongside Shohei Ohtani and Marcell Ozuna. • Starting Saturday
Gray will start Saturday's game against the Royals, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gray was scheduled to throw Monday at Milwaukee on seven days rest, but he'll have his start bumped up to Saturday to give Max Scherzer (thumb/back) extra rest. Gray had surrendered two or fewer runs 12 consecutive starts before being rocked for nine runs in three innings against the Mets on Monday. He yielded two runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts across seven innings in a start against the Royals on May 5. Rotowire.com Today, 2:21 pm

    • Justin Verlander (neck) has yet to resume throwing
Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Friday that right-hander Justin Verlander (neck) has yet to resume throwing.

Advice: There had been hope that he would resume throwing earlier in the week, but it’s taking much longer than expected for his neck discomfort to dissipate. At this point, there’s no clear timetable for when the 41-year-old hurler will be able to rejoin the Astros’ rotation. Rotoworld Today, 2:18 pm

    • Ketel Marte absent from Diamondbacks lineup Friday
Ketel Marte is absent from the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Advice: It appears to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the hard-hitting second baseman. Blaze Alexander will draw a rare start at second base in his place and will bat eighth for the Diamondbacks against Taijuan Walker and the Phillies on Friday evening in Philadelphia. • Not in Friday's lineup
Marte is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: Marte served as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter Thursday and is now out of their lineup altogether, although there's no indication at this point that this is anything other than a routine day off. Blaze Alexander is handling second base Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:22 am
    • Continues power surge Thursday
Merrill went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-6 win over Milwaukee on Thursday.

Advice: Merrill hit the second of back-to-back homers with Manny Machado in the first inning to give San Diego an early lead. The long ball was the second in as many days for Merrill, who has surged in the power department of late, with six of his nine homers on the campaign coming over his past eight games. All six of those long balls have been of the solo variety, but it's still a positive development for Merrill's fantasy managers after he went deep just three times over his first 68 games. • Moved up to start Sunday
Severino will move up in the Mets' rotation to start Sunday against the Cubs, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Severino had been slated to start Tuesday versus his former club, the Yankees, but will be bumped up a couple days to take the ball on regular rest. David Peterson had been on turn for Sunday but now figures to take the ball next week against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Today, 9:32 am
    • Goes deep in victory
Freeman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday in a 5-3 win against Colorado.

Advice: Freeman accounted for the Dodgers' final run of the contest with his fourth-inning solo shot to center field. The veteran first baseman is up to 11 long balls on the season, with five of them coming in June. Freeman has added to his standout month with a .354 average, 12 RBI, 17 runs, two stolen bases and a 14:10 BB:K through 18 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:22 pm
