    • Alex Verdugo sits against left-hander on Friday
Alex Verdugo is not in the Yankees’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Braves.

Advice: While Verdugo started each of the team’s last two games against left-handed starters, he’ll get a breather with tough southpaw Chris Sale taking the hill for the Braves on Friday night. Verdugo is enjoying a solid season for the Bombers’, slashing .254/.309/.413 with nine homers and 41 RBI through his first 74 ballgames. Jahmai Jones will start in his place in left field and bat fifth for the Yankees on Friday evening in the Bronx. Rotoworld Today, 1:10 pm

    • Sitting against lefty
Verdugo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: Verdugo will dodge a matchup with southpaw Chris Sale on Friday. Instead, Jahmai Jones will bat fifth and fill left field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:39 pm

    • Allows two runs in no-decision
Littell did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings against the Twins. He struck out five.

Advice: Thursday represented a return to form for Littell, who held the Twins to single tallies in each of the second and third innings. Littell had posted a 7.71 ERA and 2.07 WHIP with four homers given up across three starts in June entering Thursday, including a season-worst six earned runs allowed in just two frames during his previous start. Although he was touched up for a homer for the seventh consecutive outing, it was also the first time in five starts he didn't allow at least three earned runs. He tentatively lines up for a home matchup with the Mariners next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:28 pm
    • Yu Darvish ready to return next week for Padres
Padres manager Mike Shildt told reporters Yu Darvish (groin) will return next week.

Advice: No definitive date yet for Darvish to rejoin San Diego’s starting rotation, but he figures to take the ball at some point during their next series against the Nationals, most likely on Tuesday in place of rookie Adam Mazur. The 37-year-old veteran righty made it through Wednesday’s minor league rehab outing for High-A Fort Wayne without any issues and is on track to return next week. He’s been out since late May recovering from a groin strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:39 pm

    • CJ Abrams day-to-day after MRI on left wrist
CJ Abrams is day-to-day after an MRI this week revealed a Ganglion cyst on his left palm near his wrist.

Advice: Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters Thursday that it isn’t a serious concern. We’re not medical professionals, but a Ganglion cyst is basically a non-cancerous lump that appears along the joints of the wrists or hands. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward as the issue mighty simply go away on its own, but it’s something Abrams will have to manage going forward. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Abrams back in Washington’s lineup at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:49 pm

    • Zack Littell allows two in no-decision vs. Twins
Zack Littell allowed two runs in five innings without qualifying for a decision Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: Littell bounced back nicely from his disaster against Atlanta (two innings, six earned runs), but wasn’t able to get enough run support to factor in the decision. The right-hander scattered five hits and two walks while fanning five. One of the runs was a homer by the red-hot Royce Lewis, and the other a double off the bat of Kyle Farmer. Littell has mostly been solid as a starting option, and he’s scheduled to work again next week against the Mariners. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:28 pm
    • Day-to-day following MRI on wrist
Abrams is considered day-to-day after an MRI revealed a ganglion cyst on his left wrist, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump which is commonly found on the tendons or joints of the wrists and hands. While the cyst has caused Abrams some discomfort, it's something that will often clear on its own. The shortstop could be back in the lineup this weekend in Colorado. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:02 pm

    • Receiving Thursday off
Langeliers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Kyle McCann will draw the start behind the dish while Langeliers rests for a day game after a night game. Langeliers went 0-for-7 with four strikeouts over the first two games of the series with Kansas City, bringing his batting average down to .198 for the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:58 am

    • Not in Thursday's lineup
Abrams (wrist) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Abrams was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's 3-1 win and was set to undergo an MRI on his left wrist. The results of his imaging haven't been revealed, but Abrams will miss a second straight start Thursday. The Nationals should have more information on the Abrams' condition before long. Ildemaro Vargas will fill in for Abrams at shortstop. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:25 am
