  • Fans nine in Tuesday's win
Paxton (2-1) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings in a 5-4 victory over the Guardians. He struck out nine.

Advice: The veteran southpaw looked like he was in for a short night after needing 28 to get through the first inning, putting Boston in a 2-0 hole, but Paxton got locked in after that and gave his club a chance to come back. The quality start was his second in five outings since coming off the IL, and he'll carry a 3.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and impressive 36:9 K:BB through 26 innings into his next start, likely to come at home early next week against the Rockies. • Belts 13th homer
Bichette went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Astros.

Advice: He tagged Rafael Montero for an insurance run in the eighth inning, giving Bichette 13 homers on the year and four in his last 11 games. The shortstop has been held hitless only twice in his last 17 contests, a stretch in which he's slashing an impressive .360/.368/.560. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • Goes yard again Tuesday
Varsho went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Astros.

Advice: He took Hunter Brown deep in the fourth inning, giving Varsho homers in back-to-back contests as he extended his hitting streak to 10 games. The 26-year-old has only one multi-hit performance during that stretch, but it's still an encouraging turnaround after he held a .209/.278/.361 slash line when the streak begin May 27. • Gets offensive help in win
Dunning (5-1) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one over 5.2 innings to earn the win over St. Louis on Tuesday. He also hit a batter.

Advice: It was an off day for Dunning, who ceded all four runs on three home runs. He hadn't allowed a homer in the first 48 innings pitched prior to Tuesday. And the four runs were the most he's allowed in any of the six starts as a replacement for Jacob deGrom (elbow). Luckily, Dunning was backed by a powerful Texas lineup, which flipped a 2-0 first-inning deficit by scoring runs in innings two through five to make him a winner. The Rangers announced Tuesday that deGrom will undergo Tommy John surgery, and it's expected Dunning will remain in the rotation. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

  • Clubs ninth homer
Springer went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Astros.

Advice: His third-inning shot off Hunter Brown got the Blue Jays on the board, and gave Kevin Gausman all the run support he would need. Springer has shaken off his early-season struggles and is batting .303 (30-for-99) over his last 25 games with five of his nine homers and five of his 10 steals on the season. • Ties career high with 13 Ks
Gausman (5-3) picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-1 victory over the Astros, allowing one run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out 13 without walking a batter.

Advice: One day after Alek Manoah lasted only one-third of an inning and lost his spot in the rotation, Gausman gave his bullpen a needed breather with another dominant performance. The veteran right-hander generated 36 called or swinging strikes among his 101 pitches as he tied his career high with 13 strikeouts, and if it weren't for a Mauricio Dubon leadoff homer he might have taken aim at his first career shutout. Gausman has 10 quality starts and six double-digit strikeout efforts among his 13 outings this season, and he'll take a 2.63 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and eye-popping 113:18 K:BB through 82 innings into his next start, likely to come at home this weekend against the Twins. • Homers in win
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-4 win over St. Louis.

Advice: Lowe homered in the third inning as part of a four-inning stretch in which the Rangers overcame an early 2-0 deficit. Just like last season, Lowe appears to have flipped a switch in June. The lefty-hitting first baseman is 7-for-21 with a double, two home runs and six RBI over five games (1.042 OPS) this month. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago

  • Pops second homer
Dubon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Getting the start at second base, Dubon led off the game by taking Kevin Gausman deep, but it was the only flicker of offense Houston could manage all night. With Jose Altuve (oblique) on the IL again, Dubon is back in an everyday role and has rapped out six hits while making four straight starts at the keystone, While his .294 batting average remains a plus, the 28-year-old doesn't offer much else from a fantasy perspective -- Tuesday's homer was just his second of the season, and his first extra-base hit of any kind since May 22. • Quality start in Tuesday's loss
Brown (5-3) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on three hits and three walks over six innings as the Astros fell 5-1 to the Blue Jays. He struck out five.

Advice: Long balls by George Springer and Daulton Varsho accounted for all the damage off Brown, and the rookie right-hander had little margin for error on a night when Kevin Gausman was dominant for Toronto. The quality start was Brown's third in his last four starts and sixth of the season, and he'll take a 3.69 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 79:23 K:BB through 68.1 innings into his next outing, likely to come at home next week against the Nationals.
